On another note... anyone else excited to finally see ACEMCO back in action at Le Mans? It seems like they suddenly disappeared without a trace. No one really talks about them, no updates to their whereabouts that I know of, and their website seems abandoned. This is my favorite team and they're running one of my favorite cars, so you know I'm pretty damn excited.

Oh, yeah. Even though I'm a Corvette fan, I would love to see ACEMCO do well at Le Mans.

Not sure why they're not racing in ALMS this year. The team owner complained last year about the advantage the Corvettes had over them. But now that IMSA has severely handicapped the Corvettes, ACEMCO is a no-show.

Yes, Michael Schumacher did race at Le Mans in 1991 for Sauber-Mercedes, I believe. Although, I remember reading in a paper somewhere that he said he was too scared of Le Mans and would never do it.

That's really funny

The ACO has released this years poster. You can see it at their official website

It features the Pescarolo leading the Audi R10 before the Dunlop Bridge. For you Audi fans, you can see it as the R10 about to put the Pescarolo a lap down. ;)

I saw the poster and looks like the ACO is dreaming again.:sly: They might as well keep doing it because if they couldn't get the faster Pescarolo to beat the slower Audi R8 , what makes them think they'll beat the Audi R10? its fast, its durable as its suppose to be and the worst thing for them, its silent. that means when they get passed, they won't even know unless they're looking.:sly:

BTW, what do you guys think that the ACO is gonna do now that there is a French driver with the Panoz team? as Mulsanne has said, they throw the book down on everybody else, so with Sebastian Bourdais on board, perhaps they'll give multimatic a little "wink" here and there.

I don't think Schumacher said he was "scared" to race there (he did set a lap record in '91), but he did say it was unsafe. I guess he requires a kilometer of asphalt/gravel trap runoff with soft pillows to hit for him to race anywhere. :) The way he drives (Adelaide '94, Jerez '97, countless startline "swerves"), I can see why he needs so much runoff area.

Re: Poster - I too see that as the Audi lapping the Pescarolo. Although, I do expect them to put up more of a fight this year. Last year, they lost the race through their own mistakes (mechanical failures/driver errors). I don't see them making those mistakes again. But it still won't be enough to race with the Audi. I expect it to be 2000 all over again, where Audi is in a league of their own. It's just too bad Audi are now limited to only two entries. The 3-car side-by-side finishes were really cool, IMHO.

As for Panoz, it's still an American car. But it now has a maple leaf on it, so I don't know how they'll get treated by the ACO. But despite the flag on the car, I still would like to see them do well.

The Mulsanne Straight had no chicanes when Schumacher raced, and the closing rate between GT cars and Group C cars was much more radical than the LMP to GT car rate these days.

Le Mans WAS dangerous during Group C for drivers without plenty of experience, which at the time Schumacher did not have. After all, remember that Mercedes-Benz wrote Michael off as a second tier driver, feeling that Karl Wendlinger and Heinz-Harald Frentzen were much better investments.

The Wiki site has Jason Bright in the Aston Martin but this weeks Auto Action says he won't be driving because he can't get to the test day but will be driving in the Petit Le Mans.
David Brabham will be busy if he is driving the Cirtek Aston Martin and the Multimatic Panoz.

hey it seems like everyones keen to see the viper at the 24 heurs du mans race, hopefully it will hapen so the corvette will start biting some dust.and the sellout olivier beretta can rethink his future. anyways, is there a way to find out if dodge is going to do le mans cas (preferably A VIPER) ? i e-mailed people at the viper racing a while back and they said currently here is no plans for such, however they might just be trying to cover up the secret surprise(i Hope). i know the viper alley and american viper club has a huge hold over the way the vipers are made, so i was wandeing if theres a way to do a huge poll or a request ( along with the help of members from those 2 sites) that we can organise for dodge so the vipers can go on le mans agin?? please e-mail to tyronnezx@hotmail.com only.
