2006 Range Rover SPORT

Well dont get to sure about being Highly doubltful there man. My parents can afford this "automobile" if they wanted to but they wont ever. Why? Because they dont want the extra features and "junk" like that. They just like something very simple. Oh and I think they do care about the gas.
You're missing my point. I'm not saying that no one can afford this car. But, what I'm saying is, when you get a car like this, you know going in that its going to use lots of gas. I mean, that would be like someone buying a Viper and wondering why it uses so much gas. Well, it has 8.3L of 500hp engine to feed, it will use gas. Same goes for this Range. Sure, the price isn't exactly exotic. But, I don't think people that will be looking at a car like this are thinking that its a nice economical Volvo wagon alternative. Thus, going in, you know its a performance machine, and it will give you those performance "features" in return. Like, the less-than-ideal ammount of gas it uses in return for the nearly 400hp it gives you back.

.....People like me do not like and can't afford gas prices today.
Its called "pay to play" man. Hi performance engines will use lots of gas, thats a given. To get power from an engine, you have to get more air through it. More air equals more fuel. I hate the price of gas these days as well. And, my Talon doesn't exactly sip the gas with over 500hp and a big a$$ turbo. But, if I want to go fast, I have to pay the price. I know that going in, so I just have to take it. Thats how it works.

Hilg

Whatever, your's is custom. Land Rover is stock and the EPA sucks.
You're still missing the point. The point isn't that my car eats lots of gas and has lots of work done, or that the Range eats lots of gas and is stock. The fact of the matter is, people that buy performance cars know what they're getting. Be it a big-turbo'd Talon, an LS1 Camaro, an S2000, or a Ferrari 575M. If you seek performance, don't be shocked when that performance has a price. Like I said before "Pay to Play" is the name of the game.

But I think there are other places that sell petrol cheaper than this.

Oh I see what you mean now. Yeah I guess you wouldnt really care but my parents do. my brother kinda dont I guess since is puts in Prieum fuel! I told him just stick with the regular stuff but he never listens. My parents are really really really really simple when it comes to anything about cars or any type of automobile.

I'm first on my local Land Rover dealer's wait list.

Definitely. Depends on how you drive too - I can't remember the last time I was over 20mpg, which includes an obscene amount of cars from a 1999 Toyota Avalon to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Same deal - if you drive like that, expect to pay for it one way or another.

Can we all agree that the Range Rovers are the best looking SUVs built today?

But I don't know why you would buy this when you could probably get a BMW X5 for less.

Do you always have to be wrong?

I don't think the BMW X5 is cheaper than anything.

I'm getting this over an X5 and an FX45 because they have no ability except on pavement. Or, at least, the X5 4.8is doesn't. This thing's got performance and capability, and capability's necessary when it snows then a day later it rains while it's 20 degrees. Ice, that's what forms. Everywhere, ice. You can't even look outside and not see ice.

I didn't realize how expensive the X5 was.

The XC90 is the second-best looking SUV, and the Ascender is just ass-ugly. ASS-UGLY!!

How does the Land Rover Discovery handle off-road? It must be better than the Range Rover, right?

Wait, did I miss something???? Did you just agree with me??? It must be getting pretty cold "downstairs" for that to be happening.

Oh go back to Papillion you damn Husker. :P

The extended-length Ascender is ugly, but the standard-length model is great-looking.

Disco is good off-road - better than all Range Rovers except the 'good' ones of yore - but it's an awful piece of trash. LR3 is better but does seem to compromise some off-road ability. Frankly I'll take the trade - the Disco's engine was absolutely terrible.

Now thats where I draw the line. You can call me what you want, tell me I'm from some other part of town that I'm not, but NEVER call me a Husker!!! :yuck: :yuck: 👎 :grumpy: :yuck: 👎 :grumpy: :yuck: 👎 :grumpy:
Those people are just nuts about the damn Huskers around here, always have been. If its not the arrogant bragging about how good they are (like a few years ago), its the making excuses about how bad they are (like this year). It never ends.

I was born in Iowa City, went to school in Iowa City at the U of Iowa, and lived in Iowa for a lot of my life growing up. I was born a Hawkeye, and will always be one. But, oh man, calling me a Husker, thats over the line. :) :) :) :)

j/k man, but really, I hate the Huskers, and couldn't be happier about their football season this year.

 Classic. And Nebraska is sucking this year - they've still got potential though and given their recruiting abilites and dynasty-like past performance I see it turning around damn soon.

I'm one of few people you'll meet who likes Iowa City. I don't like the bigger cities in Iowa - Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City - because they're boring cities trying to be fun. But the three college towns - Ames, Iowa City, and Waterloo - are boring cities that admit they're boring and aren't trying to make any excuses, so they kick ass in my book. I prefer Ames, truthfully, but Iowa City's nice.

Hey, none of that now!!! I want to relish in this bottomless pit of sucking they are going through right now. Its classic. They suck, and we (Iowa) are going to be playing on New Years in a good bowl. Their sucking can't last long enough in my book.

I grew up in Council Bluffs, so that doesn't really count. Its right next to Omaha, just separated by the Missouri river. Not a big town per se, but when its basically part of Omaha, it doesn't feel so bad. And, I as well love Iowa City. And, actually, I know many people around here that do as well. You're not from around here, so you might not hear it much. College towns are always fun though. Its a great town for school too. Big enough to have some fun, but not so big that you feel overwhelmed. I miss it. I haven't been there in over 2 years. Might go to a few basketball games this year, so we'll see.

GO HAWKS!!!!! DOWN WITH THE 'SKERS!!!!

Council Bluffs, Nebraska's casino. Or at least that's how it seems. I've only ever driven through it on I-80 but in Omaha the ads there for gambling in Council Bluffs are overwelming!

College towns with big colleges in them are fun if you're a student and a source for constant complaints if you're a resident. I've also been to Grinnell, Iowa, and good school though Grinnell is, I don't know how they can handle it. That's not a fun college town. Meanwhile, a place like Iowa City (or Boulder, Colorado or Ann Arbor, Michigan) is definitely a good place to go to school.

Yep, thats basically how its been for a while. In Nebraska, they couldn't have gambling, but across the river, it was ok. First, there was Bluffs Run. They had a dog track for many years. Then, the legislation went through that if they had river boats, a full on casino was ok. So now we have Harrah's and Ameristar that are full on casinos with table games and all. And, Bluffs Run is still there, but all they have is slots and keno. They might be getting tables and all that soon, but who knows. So, there are 3 casinos over in CB. There is some legislation in the works right now to try and get some in Omaha, but who knows when that will happen. The casinos are pretty nice though. Nothing special, and they don't hold a candle to anything in Vegas. But, for a metro area like Omaha/CB, its great.

I don't beleive it - Americans complaining about the price of petrol !

Cross the pond a see how much the rest of us pay - I passed a motorway services today that wanted 91 pence ($1.68 ish at todays conversion)

Do any of you seriously think that all Range Rovers go off road. I reckon that the closest most go in the UK to off road is parking on the footway outside the local shop or a car park !

And as for the Cayenne its so ugly the designer should have been shot
