Well that's sure nice-looking...and the Ecotec is supposedly easy to modify, so I can see this being a winner. I think it looks a bit better than the Solstice.

M5Power
It probably won't be the quickest Saturn ever built.

$22400 for 0-60 in 6.6? That performance is almost the best 0-60-per-dollar that you can get (damn SRT-4). I've recommended the Vue V6 to four people who actually bought it, too, so I'm not the only one.

After all, it was our own "stat boy" on cars (M5Power) who said the Saturn Vue is the most underrated car in the world. So if he says such a thing, you tend to either listen or think about it at least.

And I somehow got a bunch of people to agree with me in that thread - evidently my praises of the Vue V6 haven't been falling on deaf ears! I might re-think 'most underrated car' though. It's still the most underrated new car, but I can think of a few used cars that would give it a run.

I'm not really against Saturn's styling, but could be better. Here is an excerpt of what a pamphlet for Saturn cars says:

"People deserve to feel safe, who appreciate reliability, quick acceleration, style, and a lot of unexpected features. And who believe, like us, that a car can be smart, practical and beautiful, all at the same time." -Saturn pamphlet from 2004

Now, do you see the part I underlined? With the Saturn Sky being mentioned in this one, do you think this machine lives up to the underlined portion of my excerpt?

Somehow, I never saw any pics of this car, and saw it for the first time at the DC auto show this weekend. The Solstice looks good, and this car looks even better.

That Saturn looks as sporty as a fat man, the front looks like it's off a small family hatchback. Completely unispired design imo.

Id have to say that the Kappa twins are some of the best looking cars to roll out of a GM showroom is quite a long time, and being that the Saturn is exactly what the Speester/VX220 replacements are going to look like, get used to 'em.

They aleardy look similar in general

YSSMAN, being used to a design has nothing to do with liking it or not, theres plenty of cars I don't like that I see on a regular basis.

Regardless, M5Power. Whether or not it's performance is good (VUE) it's still ugly as hell. If the Aztec came stock with a twin-turbo V6 that produced 300hp I wouldn't buy it. It's ugly as HELL! I wouldn't be caught dead in either of those cars.

that's your call to make. i couldn't really give two ****s about the exterior styling of a car, especially when it's as quick as the vue, but if you want to be that shallow by all means go ahead - you're the one missing out, not me, and certainly not saturn, who can't keep them in stock.

I have to say I wouldn't buy a car I didn't like the looks of either, I wouldn't call it shallow, I'd call it a decision of taste. It's down to you if you want to view it as a "your loss" case, but it's not shallow. There so much choice when buying a car your not really left in a position where theres one you don't really like but it's the only sensible choice.

Let me *cough* first say without embarrasment that I would own one IF--and a big if--if I were to ever be made to a coupe'. Styling is fantastic for a Saturn. I saw my first Solstice in person today and it was just too ugly from the front view. I can't stand that Pontiac grille treatment to every one of thier cars.

I'll take the Redline one when it comes out...280hp is hardly going to make that thing slow.

fine - but dismissing the segment leader because its ugly is stupid. you're missing the best cargo space, interior room, price, features, and horsepower. there are no other classes where there's such a clear segment leader. it's just idiotic. fortunately it appears people actually in the segment aren't making that stupid choice.

TBH I'm not talking about that car in particular or that market for car's I'm generalising, we don't all the same cars over here. But you have a point, if it's the segment leader then I guess it'd be stupid to NOT consider it at most, once you get in you might love it. But if theres a choice of car's and all fit your need's but the ugly one has only slightly more room in the boot, I'd probably go for the better looking one, that's provided they were the same in everything else. It's all personal choice, but in a case like you mentioned, I think you have a point.

None of those points have anything to do with 'owning a sports car' they might matter for family saloons or shopping hatch-backs but the only element that should figure in the 'buying a sports car' equation is 'how good a sports car it is'

If you're bothered about cargo space you should'nt be even thinking of a sports car and will probably never drive it like it should be driven.

At least the nose is better. I'd still go for the MX5 simply because of the weight distribution. (well, that's a lie, I love the MX5 on every aspect, but the nose isn't very attractive, but I could put a license plate over that.)

Design is very important to me. If someone wants to buy the nicer looking second best car over the best, but a ugly(matter of taste, of course ;))car, I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

design is of major importance to me as well. however, styling is not. don't confuse the two.

Yep, design can be functional and have little to do with styling. However I generally wouldn't choose an ugly but slightly better car over a nice looking car.
