2007 Bentley Arnage gets power boost

2007-bentley-arnage.jpg

Bentley has updated its flagship Arnage range with the introduction of major powertrain and chassis enhancements for the 2007 model year. The Arnage's 6.75-litre V8 engine now develops up to 500 hp and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain changes are complemented by subtle exterior, interior and under-bonnet design cues. In the performance-oriented Arnage T model, the revised twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces a staggering 500 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque –- an 11 percent increase in power and a 14 percent increase in torque over the outgoing model. In the Arnage R and RL models the new engine is boosted from 400 to 450 hp, while torque climbs from to 645 pound-feet.

Looks all the more desirable. ;)

Looks sexy. Wouldn't mind a 1:18 model of one.

Nice to see that they're still using the almost 50 year old 6.75 V8.

It's a great engine. In the Rolls Royce Phantom it's quiet but strong, and in the Bentley Arn-zure ranges it's a comfortable powerhouse.

Arnage: for the rich guy whom the Maybach and Rolls-Royce aren't absurdly powerful enough.

One of my favourite pictures on the internet.

Too bad all of them brought to the USA will be bought by idiotic rappers who can't appreciate the history and class of this car...or any Bentley for that matter.

The Phantom uses a Beamer engine.
Anyways: Just what the Arnage needed: More torque. Watch out Bentley! Mack trucks was shooting for you! I wonder how much over 160 it will go now. Before that brutishly square vehicle went a rediculous 168. Now I'm guessing 173.

Agreed. That was why Bugatti was pretty much making sure the Veyron didn't go to any rappers whatsoever. Thats also why Crystal has backed away from the hip-hop scene as well...

But back to the car: Another beautiful car from the land of luxury cars, much better than their German siblings. I've always been a fan of large British luxury cars, and this is no exception. Thing only thing that could make this car better would be if it was in my driveway, but I don't see that happening any time soon...

I was unaware of the Phantom using a BMW engine, thanks for the info.
Another 6.75l engine, but not the 6.75l engine.

It'll get you from your home in Beverley Hills to the recording studio in Miami by tea time.

I feel so dirty.

Let me introduce you to the world of petty theft, my friend.

Does anyone else think the wheels in the pictures in the first post look photoshopped?

Correction on YSSMAN's post:

Ern... Bugatti ;)

Back on topic though, that car is rediculosly awesome. Something so huge, and square that'll roast rubber better than 99% of cars on the street? It's Rootastic!

You guys know what that car is telling me? "Get a driver and get the driver to drive you around town!" :sly:

What's the fun of riding in the backseat of something like that? You don't want to drive it? I thought you were a car-guy... Pfft!

To be honnest, I didn't even know they still produced the Arnage, so there's some news for me!

Yeah, I realise that now... I'll fix it...

I'm not a fan of Bentleys but I used to love getting them at Top Trumps for the engine displacement

738 ft lbs is what the Merc SL65 has, can that be pure co-incidence or is there some kind of competition here, I wonder?

I'd love to say that my car has more than 700 lb-ft of torque... Thats more than most work trucks, including heavy-duty diesels, have here in the US...

Actually, that's called "grand theft auto", but maybe we should save that for another thread. :D

So with 700+ lb-ft, does that mean the Sultan of Brunei can now hook up his custom-matched motorhome to the back of his new Bentley?
