Am I the only person who thinks Yellow-White-Black and not Yellow-Blue when they think of Renault in racing colours?

Having not grown up with Renault in yellow-white-black, I usually associate those colours with this:

Yeah, I agree. Everything that was good about the TF109 in the release photos has now been destoryed. It went from the best-looking car on the grid to the worst with the addition of that ... thing. Worse, I don't think it really provides any net benefit given that McLaren won the drivers' championship last year without one.

Looks on the TF109 may be subjective, but you cannot judge a sharkfin's usefulness "because others won without it". Formula 1 cars are complex aerodynamic structures (especially last year's hyper-aero cars), and McLaren's car happened to work well without one. By the same token, I could claim bridge-wings and horns aren't beneficial because Ferrari won the constructor's championship without them. There's great benefit in the fins as far as aerodynamic stability is concerned: Under jaw, it helps stabilize airflow and return the car into line, and even when not, flow-separation between the left and right halves of the engine-cover helps smoother airflow hit the rear wing.

Alright, then how does that impact upon the car railing behind?

I hadn't grown up with those colours either, in fact I grew up seeing the Williams cars take victory after victory in white/blue/yellow with their Renault engines. I don't know why but I just think those 70s colours are the "right" ones for some reason, maybe I just saw a lot of old model Renault race cars when I was younger at the Renault showroom my family serviced their car at or something.
Maybe its just that yellow was always Renault's colour before 2000, whereas now it seems to be blue. Whatever, lol.

I have to say I actually like the new Renault colours, quite interesting and a bit of a nod towards the Spanish flag do I see?
As I expected, the Williams looks great in that black, nice front wing too.

My favourite front wings so far:
Ferrari
Toyota
Williams

My favourite rear wings so far:
Toyota
McLaren
Williams

I still think the Williams is my favourite so far. I have changes my mind on the Renault again, it looks dreadfull from the front, and the profiles not much better either. The livery is cool but its still an abomination in my eyes.

The Williams is the only one that actually looks like an F1 car.

I'm glad someone else asked that. I don't get it, either.

Just from certain angles? What? That doens't make sense, either, because two of the Renault are almost the same.

I don't get it ... why is there a picture of the Renault under all three categories and a Toyota under "Win" and "Fail"?

Because of the particular angles the cars look good, and catastrophically bad from.

Nobody understands the reason, but they've been running it since the start of the testing-season, for some odd reason.
