Wait you honestly think the interior of the Mini is busier then that of a 500?

I understand why the speedo was put in the center of the dash, but IMO it would have been better to have a single display behind the wheel, rather than a big speedo in the middle and then more little pods with dials in elsewhere! And does it really need to be so big? I can see why people would like it, it's very cool and modern but it really doesn't do anything for me at all.

I can sort of see what you mean, although it's more the centre console that's busy:

It doesn't particularly bother me, but it is a little less attractive. Personal preference I suppose.
 
The Mini interior posted is actually the previous MINI. The new one looks like this inside:

I do agree with Moglet though, I've sat in all three cars (500 and both MINIs) and the Fiat has the cleaner design inside. I prefer the MINI's driving position though.
 
I don't know if the speedo has to be so big, but it does add to the character of the car.
 
Its roughly the size of a dinner plate these days, which surprised me when I first saw the new MINI up close a year or so ago...
