A lot of the talk here in the US is still circling around the idea that the Falcon will likely come to the US as a sedan, probably with the Falcon name, and as a coupe, in the form of the '09 Mustang. All I'm hoping for is a decent engine and transmission program, as Ford otherwise lags behind GM pretty bad these days.

The transmission in the current Falcon is 10 times better then what's in the VE Commodore. However, the engines are starting to be, well, crap.

What transmissions are you guys using? We've got the five-speed out of the CTS in the V6 model, and then the top-line versions have either the six-speed from the Corvette, or the modified T56 (I think called the M10) as a further option.

For Holdens
In automatics: For the base V6 we get the 4L60-E :yuck:, then we get the 5L40 and the 6L80 for the Highoutput V6 and V8 Respectively.

In Manuals: The Highoutput V6 gets the Aisin AY6, and the V8s get the Tremec T-56.

In Manuals it's much of a muchness, since both the Commodore and the Falcon use the T-56 (Although most reviews say the Falcon's is slightly better). However, the Falcon gets the ZF 6HP26 Automatic, which is a stunner, and completely outclasses the 5L40/6L80.

Okay, I see why then. I'm surprised you guys still have the 4L80E running in the Commodore. The "base" G8 in the states will have the 5L40E, the G8 GT will have the 6L80E.

...But you're right, the ZF is in a completely different league there...
