Are you kidding?
Ok, it's actually called the G50, but I thought it was a bit dull.

Introducing the Ginetta G50
ginettacars.com
Ginetta is to launch an all-new British sports car for 2008, designated the Ginetta G50, the car has been designed in-house at LNT Automotive’s new purpose-built factory in Leeds.
The G50 is a celebration of 50 years of British sports car manufacturing by the company, and has been designed as the base for a new generation of Ginetta sports cars.
2008 and will see the Ginetta ‘G50 Cup Car’ launched, this car is designed to bridge the gap between single-make sports car racing such as the current Ginetta G20 championship – and GT cars such as the new GT4 Championship, GT3 and GT2 racing.
Weighing in at a little over 800kg, the Ginetta G50 is a rear-wheel drive car, powered by a front-mid mounted Ford 3.5- litre, V6 engine producing 300 bhp, with a five-speed sequential gearbox.
A G50 Cup Car series will be created, with the focus on keeping running costs to a minimum by using control tyres, control fuel and low maintenance costs through clever design. Ginetta will offer a spares and support service at all race and test events.

The series will consist of 10 race weekends, with eight events confirmed to be supporting the SRO F3/GT package alongside the current 'G20' Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship. Two stand alone, long distance events are also planned with a substantial prize fund and TV coverage guaranteed by Ginetta.
Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of LNT Automotive said: “We’ve designed the G50 as a stepping stone for GT drivers. Production of the first 30 cars is well under way with a mixture of cup, road and GT4 cars available from early 2008."
The price is likely to be around the £35,000 mark.
Further news and details will be announced over the coming months as the race car design is completed and goes into full time production.

Speculate at will, gentlemen. I'll update this thread if more news comes up.

I hope they can pick up where Marcos left off.

I mean with the meaty FR coupe, not the folding. :S

Are you going to be able to see through the real one too?

Let's put an EcoBoost in that bad boy...I mean, if it makes a Taurus GO!!!, imagine what it'd do in a 800KG Ginetta!

I like the looks, the roofline reminds me of the TVR Cerbera. I'm sure when we see a proper model or a real version it will look much better, this is a pretty simple model but all the proportions and curves are in the right places. Here's hoping it achieves what Ginetta want and need it to do.

The body extends too low to the ground. If I can recall correctly, the Ginetta G4 had rounded sides that curved beneath the car. No doubt it would be more expensive to produce, however.

It looks sharp, and from the rear, it looks like a late C3 Corvette. But why do I think of the TVR Grantura when I see it?

Oh, just in. In order to cut costs and make way for a new line of mainstream hatchbacks, Chery motor company has offered to extend its front wheel drive platform to Ginetta for use in the G50.

The G4? The G4 was ages ago, and they went through a couple of models since. And why would it "be too low"? It's a hardcore sportscar - most of them will be driving around tracks anyway.

Are you serious?

No. He wasn't.

I'd respectfully dissagree with that. It does fit a certain style of Sportscar, if you looked at it's silhouette it would look like perhaps a Cerbera or a TSO and it probably fits the general profile people (perhaps mainly from the US I don't know) think of when they think of a British sports coupe, like a stereotype that while holds some truth isn't really accurate. For example it looks nothing like the Esprit, Europa, Sagaris, AeroMax, V8 Vantage, M12, M15, Fighter, Exige, I don't even think it looks much like the XK8 either. The only similarities it has with cars like the XK8 and the current V8 Vantange are just general things that come from it's layout. A long bonnet and a cabin thats near the back are things that you'll find in a lot front engined rear wheel drive 2 seater sports coupes wherever they're from. The Exige is probably the most common British sports coupe.

Dont they have things like this every year... oh some long lost british sports car brand is going to come back its going to be amazing and heres a concept etc etc.. then it either never happens or the finished car is bought by like 5 people and no one really cares. Also the build quality is usually rubbish and its made out of like old Ford parts..

Basically im calling MEH on this one.. It looks super bland and I would rather have a mainstream brand.

As Metar just said, Ginetta isn't a long lost company being revived, it's been running sine 1959. If it's made out of old Ford parts that could mean anything, old Ford parts from the 90's would be a no no, old Ford parts from 2006 or after, what's wrong with that. Ford's have been reliable for the last decade. Ginetta will sell all of these, it is limited production but there's a decent enough following for these to sell. It probably won't be put together compared to anything decent thats mass produced but it'll go like stink on a track.

And I can see exactly one guy on GTP who will actually care about the plastics in his car while thrashing it on the track.

But he'll probably want an automatic version :p

Like I said...If it's got the EcoBoost Twin Turbo six...or they engineer the Ginetta so that mill'd fit, well, we'd see one very fast British sports car.
