The XK carry-over styling doesn't fit this design well. The concept was far more original than this.

I cant find any reviews for the smaller jaguars, but like yssman has mentioned even on the british subaru impreza forum they mock the x-type.

What has a Subaru Impreza got to do with any Jaguar?

No - the vehicle has been only given minor updates since debut. That's not horrendous though because the styling has always been quite good, though I personally find the interior dated (as I do all Jaguar interiors). I honestly think the car could continue on in its current design for some time, though it's sort of in an in-between segment that it needs to leave: either make it smaller to take on the 5-series and E-class, or make it larger to take on the A8 and 7-series.

I mention them because on that forum most of the mebers are in theyre late 20's to late 30's and they have actual experience driving the jaguars. They dont rate them at all.

Subaru Imprezas are different to Jaguars. I'm not surprised that they don't like them because they are a totally different car.

they like bmw's and audi's. Some hate audi's though aswell. They also love theyre diesels, and a few theyre saabs.

And for each Subaru Impreza owner yo9u can show me that doesn't like Jaguar much, I can show you a Jaguar owner that does, the key words being "Jaguar owner".

I wouldn't go onto a Rolls Royce forum and expect people there to rate TVR's.

But then why do they rate the BMW's though? Or the saabs?

First of all, Saab's arn't a patch on Jaguars, never have, never will be, and that's according to magazines and test drives and comparative tests. These people are into Subaru Impreza's, for these guys Jaguars probably just arn't cool. This may shock some people, but a Saab is in some peoples opinion, cooler than a Jaguar. This because Jaguar still has a bit of the old man image about it, but that doesn't make Saab's better cars. People are often found rating cars based on image or based on not providing something the car was never meant to provide in the first place. These people are into the image an Impreza gives that's why they own Impreza's and they spend thier time talking to Impreza owners on an Impreza forum. The Impreza's image is almost the opposite of the one a Jaguar gives. Like I said, I wouldn't go to a Rolls Royce forum and expect them to love TVR's. Bentley's and Maybachs maybe, because the image is a lot closer to a Rolls than that of a TVR, in much the same way, a Saab is a lot closer to a Subaru than a Jaguar image wise.

They're = They are.
Their = Belonging to them.
There = Not here.
nnn's = Belonging to nnn (except its)

Sorry, but it grated.

You are talking about Scoobynet, right? The forum for people who want a fast car, but are too scared to drive an Evo every day and yearn for the day they can afford a 911?

A Subaru Impreza owner is unlikely to also be any type of Jaguar owner. The Impreza is aimed at a completely different market to the X-Type, S-Type and XJ. It doesn't surprise me in the least that someone under 30 doesn't like a Jaguar, because the car is not aimed at them. It doesn't surprise me in the least that an Impreza owner doesn't like a Jaguar because, other than the £50,000 S-Type R, £60,000 XKR and £70,000 XJR, there's no Jaguar even close to being as fast as a £25,000 Impreza.

The X-Type is a junior exec or family car. The S-Type is an exec. The XJ is a luxury car. Most Impreza owners either have no family or a young one - precisely because, as you point out, they are 20-30 somethings. Most X-Type owners are in their 40s, with S-Type and XJ owners in their 50s and 60s.

So I ask again - what does a Subaru Impreza have to do with a Jaguar X-Type?

They're = They are.
Their = Belonging to them.
There = Not here.

I actually needed that, the internet and particularly msn messenger has really messed up my spelling and grammar over the last few years.

Wait, I'm confused...

Completely differerent people buy Saabs, Subarus and Jaguars.

Saab = Rich white folks, often just a hair on the "crazy" side, in it more for the looks than the performance. Maybe a Nicole Richie and Bill Murray type thing.

Subaru = Hippies and punk-ass kids. Or thats the way it is in the US. Think George Carlin and Frankie Muniz.

Jaguar = Older folks, or the more "high strung" (like myself) younger types. I always think of the sterotypical old Englishman when I think of Jaguar, usually someone like James May.

You're being too nice. I'll fix it for you:

Saabs = people who are too busy planning "gay weekend" at the synagogue to buy a real car.

Subarus = people who regretted their vote for Kerry, wishing instead they had voted for Nader.

Jaguar = people who have either just died, or are going to die quite soon.

I could go on all day about automotive stereotypes.

Actually, Saabs are bought by men with beards who refuse to wear anything fashionable, and don't listen to any music made in the last forty years.

Subarus are bought by those kids' parents... as a "safer" alternative to other sport compacts. Little do they know... :lol:

(vote for Kerry? How liberal can you be if you're buying a (relatively) gas-guzzling turbocharged AWD car? Aren't Kerry voters buying Priuses? So much for stereotypes... :lol: )

By the way, Frankie Muniz drives an SUV. And yes, it's pimped out.

Jaguars are bought by old men, yes, but they do make some nice cars.

I'm a young man (ripe old age of 19, going on 20 quite quickly) and I love Jaguars. If I had money, I'd have an XJ, no questions there. I just love the look and the feel of the cars, particularly on the XJ and XK. Call me old fashioned (I allready do), but they are still built "right" IMO by comparison to the overly "blackified" German and American cars while the Jag is still rich with nice wood and fine leather.

...Thats a luxury car...

Mhhhmmm... black-ified? (Good word)... My Uncle's XJR has the black curly maple trim. Utterly gorgeous. I'm still trying to steal the keys. :lol:

Well, more of a "black-ified" in a sense that all of the plastic, leather and technology all leads to a very dull and "blackened" state of luxury. Granted, people like it, but I much prefer the "light" look to the Jaguars. You know, British Racing Green exterior, tan leather, the burl walnut trim...

:lol: I know what you mean. When we were shopping through the Jaguar brochure for that car, the number of color combinations and materials to choose from blew me away. Jaguar's hides and wood trims are a far sight more special feeling than most recent BMW's I've been in, with their uniformly dark leather, plastic and steel or steel-colored plastic trims.

Yeah, I certainly agree with that. When we were having a quick look at BMWs most of them had a darker interior, which we hate. Jaguar is the only luxury company AFAIK that offer trim types like that, so it made our search a little more difficult because of the MANY specific trim types there are... I mean, there's two whole pages in a brochure just for the colour combination for the leather seats and dash... 16 to be exact in this year-old brochure.

lol all of the big 3 germans offer numerous different cabin colours and combinations. Its just that if you dont want to talk a chance or just like your interior black, its the perfect choice, because you know it will sell and not look hideous.

I know that mercedes has a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee list of trim options and colours, and audi's isnt too shabby either. BMW's list is probably the most meagre, on par with VW.

Yes, Audi may go with some lighter colors, but still isn't at a level with Jaguar, IMO...

I was trying to look it up online, but the online brochures simply don't prepare you for the level of customization that you get when purchasing a Jaguar in real life.

I could only find a selection of three to six interior colors online.

In real life, you get six colors to choose from, maybe half-a-dozen different leathers, and a whole lumberyard's worth of different wood trims to choose from. It's nerve-wracking trying to figure it out. Sort of like decorating your house... :lol:

EDIT:
Oops... almost found it. Six different colors of leather, three different types of leather/leatherette, four kinds of interior colors and four kinds of wood... but still no black curly maple... grrrrr....

Alot of the manufacturers have reeled in the amount of colours/customisation etc than compared to what they offered in the 80's and 90's. The mercedes gallery is huge though, especially for the bigger pricier models.
