Um, yes, we know. I'm very aware of that fact. Let alone that this is a GRAN TURISMO web forum. I think anyone here who has played that game knows that.

And who would expect to see any kind of badging on a car that's 90% tape?

I doubt it's the STi, too, but not because of the wheels. I just think that it's too soon for any STi testing (and it's a wagon, which I don't think Subaru thinks is right for this market, since Mitsubishi isn't bringing the Evo wagon, and Subaru usually follows Mitsubishi).

As for the scoop itself, hasn't Subaru tamed the hood scoop with the 2007? I thought that the WRX and STi scoop are the same now, since the intercooler became much more efficient.

In fact, I'm hard-pressed to really tell any differences between the two cars other than color (both can be WRC blue, though), pink STi badges, stock foglights on the WRX, and the double-spoiler on the STi. They've even got the same 2.5L block, making the difference the rest of the drivetrain (with DCCD), brakes, and a few different suspension components. Still glad I got my 2006....

It just seems a bit optimistic to assume that the first ever real spy shots of the new Impreza in the US would be the STI. Are they working on one to eventually sell?? Oh, absolutely they are. But, this first ever test mule caught on road is not likely to be an STI.

Huh, I didn't know they did that for the '07s. That scoop IS much smaller than I had seen. A friend of mine has an '04 STI, and that scoop is HUGE!!! I hadn't seen the new '07 scoop.

Well, there is quite a bit different with regards to them. The suspension is a good deal different. Not to mention, the different hub assemblies for the different bore spacing on the wheels. And, if you look close, you'll see the little flare on the rear wheels of the STI. That is to give it a little wider track. This coinciding with the entirely different drivetrain with 6-speed and DCCD, that you mentioned. And also, its been said that some of the aluminum suspension bits on the WRX are steel now, so theres more. And the STI also has no fogs because it comes with HID headlights.

And the engine, even though they are both 2.5L now, is quite different internally. Different pistons and rods, not to mention the STI is drive-by-wire, and has completely different head with variable valve timing. And also uses a bigger turbo, along with its bigger intercooler, even though the scoop is now smaller. So really, the only thing similar of any importance under the body is the block. Almost all of the "business" of the STI is different in some way.

No, also for the current 2006 model, that was what I was talking about.

Pardon my typo. What I meant to say is, I didn't know the new snout-nose style had smaller scoops, '06 and '07 included. My bad on the non-clarification. But, its not that important, just wanted to say that.....

Me, being a very big Impreza fan, hate the car for what it is right now. The '04 Impreza was great, the '06 became less "pretty", and this one sucks ass.
