If it would be 4WD I would of like it a lot more... FF is no no for me. I will never in my life get a FF car

You will have deprived yourself then. But then again in america you guys dont get good FF cars.

Edit

Yes you do, the Mini cooper S. You would be silly to not try one in your lifetime.

and with a slight edit, it is instantly better [/fordbash]

Find me a car more fun to drive than that anywhere near it's price.

Edit,

Just noticed you live in holland america, not netherlands holland. So just discount the Leon.

If it drives supremely well then I don't care that it's fwd. Just like this the Subaru is still a road car and it's natural tendency will be to understeer if you push too hard through a corner. The RS was never limited in handling because it was fwd, ofcourse there is only so far you can take a fwd car power wise but as a road car, as long as it remains composed when it's on the power then the fact it's fwd shouldn't be a problem.

Another two fun ones to add to the list...one of them you guys across the pond don't get.

But as much fun as an FF car CAN be, It still just isn't the kind of car one of the Rally Twins is. Yes, I feel 4WD's a big part of the experience, there, and this Focus RS just won't be the same as, say, that Escort RS.

Yes, I'm sure with a trick diff, this car will be a wonderful asphalt car, but on gravel...eh, not so much.

for me, there is only 1 genuinely fun FWD, and it's Pug 205 1.9 GTi. the rest don't come even close.

How About Some of the "Real" Stuff?

Autoblog
Though it first debuted the 2009 Focus RS at the London Motor Show in July, Ford of Europe will do it again at the Paris Motor Show next month and today has given us even more info about the fastest European car to ever wear the Blue Oval badge. The '09 Focus RS is powered by a turbocharged Duratec 2.5L five-cylinder producing about 300 horsepower and 325 ft-lbs of torque and can reach 62 mph in less than six seconds on its way to a top speed of 162 mph. The front-wheel-drive pocket rocket will channel all that energy to the ground through a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip diff and what Ford calls the 'RevoKnuckle' front suspension. We couldn't explain how it works, but Ford found the system so effective at reducing torque steer that a heavier all-wheel-drive was taken off the table during development.

While we first saw the '09 Focus RS in July, Ford has released even more images of the car including details shots of the diffuser, hood louvers, wheels and fender vents. Ford has also revealed that in addition to 'Ultimate Green', buyers will be able to order their RS in Performance Blue and Frozen White. Those orders will be fulfilled sometime in early 2009 when the cars begin arriving in dealerships. Check out the new pics in our gallery below and read Ford's official press release after the jump for all the info you'd ever want to know about the 2009 Focus RS.

I like it, but the 300 BHP is going to require a few tricks to get right. Take note, Ford: Dodge has had a hard time making the Caliber SRT-4 Pull it off correctly...

Lets hope the Focus RS doesn't make the same transition the SRT-4 did simply for the sake of MOAR POWAH, and do more of a Cobalt SS or Pontiac Grand Prix style transition.

They're already on top of that. Still, there are limits to a 300 hp FWD car even the best system can't improve.

Jost Capito, Ford's premier performance guru, is on the phone from Cologne, and he's getting evangelical. Surely you can't possibly shove 300bhp through the front wheels of a Focus and get away with it, I ask him?

Long pause. "The RS will change your mind. We haven't even reached the limit of what the front wheels can cope with yet. Have we raised the bar significantly? I'm convinced of it." Not that Jost has owned up to the magic 300 exactly.

(...)

"We've redesigned the front suspension," says Jost. "It's a double wishbone set-up and uses something similar to a MacPherson strut, only better. The knuckle is mounted to the strut, and now the strut doesn't move under load. It works in conjunction with a new Quaife limited-slip diff, and eliminates steering disturbance. To be honest, it's almost unbelievable."

Umm, that's not saying much. Dodge has a hard time pulling anything off correctly.

From below to above... ? Erm... FAIL

The old car does look better, but I'm not complaining with the end result...

I'd be interesting to see how their system works. Although I'm not surprised it's Ford who is pulling that power from a FWD car, given their experience with the MS3. Who knows. Maybe we'll start seeing more power from FWD hot hatches.

The main problem I can see is that you still can't get the power down like a 4WD car... I imagine even with the diff one would still have to be a bit more careful with the throttle, to avoid setting both fronts alight.

The only difference at the front is the fog lamps, then the Production car has the vent behind the front arches and the rear wing. All in all, it has stayed pretty faithfull to the concept, more so than a lot of cars.

Here Here! Its odd that the Grand Prix GXP did an otherwise silly trick that worked, something that could easily be done on the Focus. I'm just wondering why no one at Ford was reading when they pulled it off, especially when the Pontiac had a bit more power going through the wheels.

I like the look of the production model better than the concept. It's cleaner and less busy.

This focus is be something that I'd be interested in (granted it's gonna have ecoboost and enough legroom). Can't wait for Ford to start bringing over its euro cars to (hopefully) save the company.

I think the RS will have no issues getting power down at all in the dry. In the wet it will get a little tricky.

I asked a guy how his car coped with torque steer as he had a 330hp leon cupra, and he told me with the ESP engaged the limited slip differential would also kick in and then it really wasnt noticeable at all, so going by that and the fact that this RS is a purpose built machine to kick out 300hp with the least amount of fuss through the front wheels im utterly impressed! I cant wait to drive one!

I think the RS will rewrite history in terms of FWD handling. When getting off the line however, it will struggle to gets its power down, and no weather, LSD or clever electronics will change that.
