Speaking of shattered:

Anyone know where I can get a car?

You can try finding a renting company for regular cars, and bringing it to the 'Ring, though it may be harder to do so now-a-days than when I went years back. I also had someone else help acquire the car, so maybe someone here can help sign any papers for you, and then let you drive it.

There's another few 'Ring rental companies out there:

http://www.ringhaus.com/hotel_en/public/cars.php

http://www.tte-racing.de/ (couldn't find it mentioned on their site, but apparantly they have an old BMW 325i)

If you have no joy with either of those, try asking the Ringers forum.

I’ve already e-mailed those two companies, but I’m still waiting on a response. I’ll check out the Ringers forum on the weekend. Thanks. 👍

Thanks for the suggestion but if possible I don’t want to do anything dodgy just incase. :indiff:

The dates are notorious around this time of year for suddenly being shortened or cancelled altogether as manufacturers book the track. Therefore, these dates should be treated as provisional. Once we've got a date set that the majority agree on, I'll start a new thread to keep track of the definates, maybes and no-can-dos.

I've got work-experience then a week of college up until about 8th July. Though I probably won't be driving, I'd like to be designated cameraman!

Cool!
Bring a hide-able one for the laps Sure-tbread, cos theyre all banned on the ring, so you'll have to sneak it past the barriers.
Or you could just bake the marshalls a cake. :sly:
I would really like to go again, depending on money and car condition.
She's up on the ramps soon to make sure we're all good to go.

I want to make it an annual thing if possible.
I still maintain that weekdays are the best time for a quiet track.
But I spose that wont suit everyone.

:irked:👍

I think most people will be taking time off anyway to do this, so I don't see why not.

Hmm, are passengers banned on the track?

I really wasn't expecting anyone to request me to bring some shortbread...I can be the official food connoisseur of the trip!

Passengers are allowed.

If it ends up in the second half of July, I might join in, also car-less.

Passengers are allowed. Filming is not.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it. Finances are very tight after buying a house, and having to do it up. I'll have to see later how my money is doing.

I've booked most of my annual leave for November, and finances most likely will not allow us a 'ring trip this year as we have something planned which is going to be expensive...

If filming isn't allowed, cars with built in cameras for parking and such shouldn't be allowed either :D

edit:here's a possible solution if you have money to spare:

Just strap it somewhere on the front of your car where no one will notice it.
It can take some punishment since it's designed for model aircraft, mountain bikes and all kinds of stuff.

Or strap this little camera on the front end of your car behind the grill. I also have a power supply to operate this camera and a VCR or a DVD in your car.
Its a colour camera with a build in microphone.
