It's better than the old cars I guess. But I'm a little annoyed that it doesn't look like a cat. It should have cat eyes and cat taillights. It's got the toned lines and strong look. But it needs the eyes.

I can see a distant similarity, like how people say my brother looks like the dude from Fall-Out Boy (ewww), but its not outstandingly obvious. The difference here is that the Jaguar looks like it has a bit of emotion behind it while the Chrysler looks tired, bloated, like it is giving up on life.

But, I'd say it looks more like the LHS:

If you're really looking for a tired, bloated, overweight, and near-suicidal car, this one is it... I spent a week with one while a friend was on vacation, and it isn't fun to drive. You get nearly as sick driving it as you do riding in the back seat. That is a feat that no car has yet to match that I've ever driven...

I'm with YSS. I can start to see similarities with the LHS. However, the car still looks like a bit of a Lexus/Kia combo.

Really am I crazy to see the similarities? On another forum people are telling me I'm nuts.

No your not crazy! It does look abit seabringy with the lights flipped upside down, the picture on the previous page looked even more like it, all in all a huge dissapointment that it looks like either a normal buick saloon (especially the grille) or a gm creation or as was said some non descript hyundai.... If you looked at it without the jag badges you would think hyundai sonata money!!

The shouldnt have hyped it all up... the concept looked amazing, but the front really would make me embarrassed to own because it looks a hell of alot cheaper than it is, heres hoping that maybe a R sports verison (XFR) makes it look better. Should have just done a four door xk...

How dare you insult the General by attempting to mix-up a Buick with what is clearly a Chrysler product!

As you can see, Buick actually has some "class" when designing their cars:

I dont know how much of that was scarcasm YSSMAN but I / we used to have a Buick LeSabre back in 1997 and it was a fabulous car, it was big had great presence and decent quality. I do like the new style of Buicks but what I don't like its Jag looking like them because its not a Buick!

And to all the GM supporters, I have a Vauxhall Corsa and I think its a great car!

Naw, I was kidding. Buick has always done a good job of making their cars tasteful at the very least, even when they share the basis with some utter crap at GM. Chrysler used to do a really good job, and really generally speaking, the LHS (and 300M) weren't bad at the time. But when you've got the Sebring and Aspen falling flat on their face, thats a problem.

...Lets hope Jaguar doesn't do the same. I'm still in love with the company who build great cars like this...

...History rides in Jaguar's pocket, lets hope there isn't a hole in there to let it drop-out...

Huh? Buick and Tasteful in the same sentence? uh... no.

The new Buick's look really good in my opinion. I think they are very tastefully done...even though they stole some design cues from VAG.

Well, considering that they're attempting to go up against Lexus (As Bob Lutz continues to assert again, and again, and again), they're going to have to be rather tasteful to do so. I love the subdued looks of the updated LaCrosse, Lucerne, and especially the Enclave.

Jaguar is appearing to do the same tasteful and elegant styling moves as Buick, but the problem is that with Jag, you expect classically British looks; Not a strange amalgamation of German/French/British/American looks.

Hmm. Had a closer look at the car, and it's still not quite my cup of tea, but it is quite a presence. Interior is different, which nice touches. I could lose the Ikeaveneea in a heartbeat, but the switchgear and driver interaction is very tasteful. It has one or two very unfortunate angles, but some extremely successful ones too.

It's going to be a success, I'd hang a hat on that.

The rejects have made there way onto the web...

Autoblog
When the Jaguar C-XF concept appeared just before the Detroit Auto Show most observers breathed a big sigh of relief. After the disappointments of the X-Type and S-Type Jaguar fans were looking for signs of fresh life from Coventry. For a company that has been tied to styling tradition for so long, coming up with a new direction was definitely a challenge. Along the way to the XF, there were numerous proposals ranging from the warmed -ver S-Type pictured above to variations on what was ultimately approved. Check out the gallery to see what the XF was spared from being.

The only question I have is why on God's green earth didn't they go with this?

That's a lot of Bentleys and Chryslers.

I'm guessing they didn't want that car because they don't quite want a car that looks a lot like a twisted up 300C.

It's different. It's not ungainly, and the interior is modern enough to convince most people. It's exactly what Jaguar needed. This is "ugly" in the same way the 2004 7-series was "ugly" (well, actually the 7 is). It should help Jaguar shed it's stodgy image far better than any X-Type ever could.

...Thats what they should have built. A dead-ringer for the old XJ6...

It definitely looks better to me from the outside in these images. 👍

Agreed, looks much better in these studio shots than the oddly angled originals. Cracker likes.

The back end and side profile is nice. The front ruins the whole car though. Its too fussy, reminds me of a korean car

Its amazing how different images can create completely different views of a vehicle. Jaguar must have dressed their photos up way too much, but despite the fact I did like them already, the new AutoExpress photos turn the dial up a bit.

Great find!

I really am suprised how much better the car looks in these latest shots. I'm still not convinced but they have restored a lot of faith in Jaguar that was lost in hose first shots.

I still don't think I care for the front end all that much.

agreed the rest of the car is all smooth and minimalistic and then the front end just has bloody curves and squiggly bits everywhere. It reminds me of a hyundai coupe and seat ibiza bonnet front end!

Jag messed up what could have been the most beautiful saloon in the world.

Not sure whether ot not to like a car is how I felt about the looks of the Corvette C6. I sometimes like its looks... then sometimes DISlike it's looks. As far as this deal goes, I'm a bit proud they didn't go with the vertically-elongated grill of that concept Jaguar last year or so. I think it's styled rather nicely. My favorite modern Jaguar was the previous generation XK8 and XKR. From a style perspective, I'd give it an approval rating of 80%. I haven't looked beyond its looks, so I'll talk about this some other time.
