Lots more pictures!

From the A-pillar back, I love it… it’s really just about perfect (note this date, kiddies – Sage said something nice about a post-Bangle BMW!!!). The hardtop doesn’t scream “I’m a foldable hardtop!”, and all of the lines are clean and nicely resolved. I really hope that that becomes the new Bangle butt – I love how the fender line wraps around the vertical portion of the trunk instead of swooping down and terminating in the bumper.

Forward of the a-pillar is kinda yucky though. That side turn signal is pretty awful, which is surprising since BMW is usually one of the best at those. (Let’s not get into the ridiculous S-Drive badge.) The v-shape that surrounds the hood ornament is stupid. When only the angel headlights are on, it looks cross-eyed. Why is the kidney grille the size of Canada now? And the vents surrounding the lower radiator grille are way plasticky tacky.

It looks amazing from the side and I like the interior. Still hate the rear, and the front reminds me of a Benz CL-- it certainly doesn't scream small roadster. Something about BMW's designs still make me feel uneasy.

Anyway, I bet the tails look a million times better at night. If post-Bangle BMW is good at anything, it's making ugly-by-day lights look amazing at night.

Looks like the thread title got tripped up in the Caps Lock filter. :dunce:

I think the lines and booty look improved, but looking at the front makes me want to punch someone in the nose.

Why did they expand the kidney grille? It's like you're staring up someone's nose. The second problem is that it makes the car look fat.

These kidneys might top the ugliness of the M6 ones.

I like it. I think the front looks quite Merc. SL-ish.

I wonder how it will look against it's competitors in '10 though...

Very Nice love everything from the front back. But how could such a good looking car be allowed to have such an UGLY front end. The lines from side are great, the shape of the roofline fantastic.:)

Don't like it. The grille is awful, the swept-back front lights are awful, and there are even more swoopy random lines than there were before. I didn't like the Z4 roadster before (though I did like the Coupe, which looks great) and I like it even less now.

I don't care what people said about the Z3 as a car, it still looked way better than the Z4 ever has.

I'm gonna reserve judgement, as it usually takes about a year for me to actually get used to anything BMW designs. At the moment though, I like it. Then again, I liked the old one so perhaps that's not surprising.

hmms the front looks a bit weird eh... but hey.. its def a much much better job then the previous ones..... haha that i have to agree.. though.. bmw really shud rethink their interior.? i mean.. its nice.. and well made.. but kinda feels blend.? or mayb i am too fussy. :S

I think it's a well designed car....a bit boring though. I mean, the last one actually grew on me, and I began to enjoy it's distinctiveness.

I think that the hood looks a tad long from some angles, not that it's a horrible thing though.

I keep on hearing comparisons to other cars, and that's because I think it's lacking in originality a bit. To me, it looks like a 6 series fused with a M-B CL and then shrunk.

Again, that is my opinion. You're free to ignore it. ^^

I've never been much for the sharp crease lines. I've always been a fan of smooth rolling lines, but for the most part (surprisingly) I like the styling. When the hardtop is up is just screams sexy as long as you can't see the front. The lines are reminiscent of old coupe racers (Shelby Daytona in particular). The front end though, hood and all, just takes so much away from the overall impact I think. Still, better than the last one I think.

I actually like it, the proportion is perfect as a roadster, but I still can't pass the Concept CS grille for such a sporty Z4.
They seems to go up market the Z4 with luxury style instead of performance. I found it little bit overlapping with the 6-series. Also, I thought Z cars are always different from entire lineup.

Actually its a pretty good improvement over prior models. But car shown is a poor color choice,I think it would be better in a darker color.

I agree, I think the current Z4 looks way better and a lot more masculine.. this new one looks too soft and its got this melting effect intead of the sweeping sharp edges. Oh, and it looks like they stole the bonnet off a Maserati GT!

Should have made it look more like the current 3 series convertable which I think is one of the best looking BMW's for a long time.

Robin.

I prefer the original one. It looks unique, sharp and edgy in all the right places while still having nice curves. This one looks really watered down and tame, especially at the back end. The front looks too much like the rest of the cars from the BMW range IMO. At least the previous Z4 looked unique;

I'd much rather have that without a doubt. If you glanced at the new one you'd think it was just a convertible 3 series!

Did you say 50% less hideousness? That is a worse restyle than the new 7-series. Controversial or not, the current Z4 is at least sharp and smooth. This thing is nearly as lumpy as the Lexus SC430, and in all the same places! And that new front end is completely awful.

You know, count me in the "I liked the Original" camp. However, I could live with the new headlights.

I'll reserve judgement for when I see in in person....

But right now, that is horrid. Definitely not a fan of the bigger grilles, or any of the front end. The lines up the hood look okay, which takes me to the interior... Which I like. Out back, failure again.

Looks.... Too swoopy. Too overstyled.

I'll take the original flavour, please.

Fixed that for you.

I agree with many others, it looks nice, but way too similar to the current line-up. It does indeed look too soft compared to the current one.

Robin.

Something occurred to me after I read that.

I recalled that the Z4 was one of the top 10 cars who's owners were women. With 60.31 percent female drivers, it was 6th on the list.

I believe that this redesign caters more towards that market.

Just a thought.

Just occured to me while I was out earlier,I saw a nice red Z3 BMW it IS a much better looking car than the Z4.:)

Oh my freakin' God, I love it! And that's the first time I've said that about a Beemer!

I <3 the M Coupe actually. Especially with 315 hp.

But I know what you're talking about. The Z3 is a nice looking machine. And I think the previous Z4 was too. This one just takes away a little bit.

Although there is a photo of it in blue and it looks a bit better.

Sorry to quote myself but I figured it would look better in a darker color, looks much better.:)
