So, GTP, what were the highest and lowest points of your year, since we're almost all the way through 2011? Anything exceptional happen? Post it here! Anything... less than exceptional? Feel free to post that as well.

I'll start by saying that the two highest points in my year were in April, when I got my first car, and in September, when I was able to start school and have my two best friends attend the same campus as well.

On the other hand, 2011 probably bottomed out when I went unemployed over the summer despite my best efforts, which made supporting the shiny new car a little harder than I originally had anticipated... hooray for savings! :dunce:

All in all, it has been a good year, and I feel really lucky to have not had anything truly catastrophic happen with regards to health and overall wellness.

High point? Joining GTPlanet of course. :sly: Or maybe being gifted a GTP Premium.
Low point? Finding out my mum has cancer. :(

Several major high points in 2011. Overall a quite positive year.

-Had nasal surgery in February for my Vertigo which was very successful.

-Got married which consumed most of 2011. The wedding and honeymoon really consumed most of our year. Physically, fincially, and mentally. But we did get some other things done too.

-Went to Florida for the first time for our honeymoon. Visited The Magic Kingdom, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Aquatica, Daytona Beach, and Cape Canaveral the day the last Space Shuttle launched. Did all that in 6 days.

-Dropped the V8 302 into our 67 Fastback Mustang in place of the 200 straight 6. Then got it running and drivable. Then installed the Saleen exhaust and a lot of other things to the car. Its the first time the Mustang has been driven in 2 or 3 years. So that was also quite major too.

-Paid off my college loan

-Paid off my wifes car

-Paid off a couple other bills too

High point? Joining GTPlanet of course. :sly: Or maybe being gifted a GTP Premium.
Low point? Finding out my mum has cancer. :(
Sorry to hear about your mum. My dad passed away last February 2010 from Cancer. I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. I hope your mom can beat it like my grandmother did.

Apparently they caught it pretty early so all should be ok. *crosses fingers* She's over half way through the chemo, but she takes around a week to recover fully, so it's a hard week after the treatment.

Wow epic posts already anyway hard to top but.

-Participating in a revolution (both ones)
-New PS3 (NO COD this year)
-First year My Mum allowed me to drive the car alone (no lisence yet)
-Made alot of new friends
-Learned alot of stuff
-learnt alot about my self :D
Oh and lastly a brand new phone (a new play area for me)

Edit: @matty hope all goes well Sorry about the bad news .

It's been a pretty good year overall, with more highs than lows, although the lows were bad at the time.

First low, Pete being diagnosed with a massive blood clot in his calf, and having to take Warfarin. The consequent chance of serious, if not fatal bleeding should we then be unfortunate enough to have an off, meant the end of our biking life and led to the second low, saying goodbye to our beloved Ducati 996.

Pete is now deemed recovered enough to no longer need to take Warfarin, and although I still miss the bike at times, I think of the 150,000 miles we did together over nine years with not one accident, and I am just grateful that we had that time.

Biggest high was our road trip to the South of France in June, where I got to realise a childhood dream and ride a white horse in the Camargue on my 50th birthday.

Almost as big a high, receiving a phonecall from my son to tell me he had just got married to his girlfriend. They had sneaked off to Prague and kept it a secret from everyone. Her parents weren't very happy about not being invited, but they had the day they wanted, and that was fine by me. Saved me having to buy and wear a stupid hat too!

All in all, not a bad year.

This year was an inauspicious year with umpteen natural disasters and aftereffects of a huge Tohoku earthquake that happened on the 11th of March, such as breakdown of a nuclear power plant and spread of radioactivity as a result of that occasion, therefore I see more negative things(points) than pleasant occurences altogether looking back what I have experienced throughout the year 2011.

But the disaster taught us a great lesson to stick it out for recovery and that the partnership was what is needed for accomplishment of our common aim, so that we again stand up as the Japanese nation to sustain our country in the future.

So it might be the highest point I can say we unmercifully and accidentally learned from an unwelcomed mishap that took away the lives of thousands of people with irresistible power of our nature. :(

Good Things:
-1000th post
-2000th post
-3000th post
-Got Madden NFL 12 for my PS2

Bad Things:
-Uncle died of cancer
-Brother moved to Toronto
-Other brother won't be coming for Christmas.

The biggest highlight would have to be this:
  • My brother decided to get back in touch with everyone on Thanksgiving after throwing a huge fit last December and cutting off connections with the family.

Some more highlights of the year in no particular order:
  • Got my Fanatec GT2 RS Wheel and Clubsport Pedals
  • Have made over 3,000 posts this year
  • Hit above 100mph for the first time on pavement. In my mom's Camaro.
  • Hit over 80mph for the first time on water. My Dad's friend brought his Donzi to "Bumper Bash"(I love Maryland) and was giving people rides in it.
  • First vacation outside the country. Jamaica.
  • First flight since I was 2. To Jamaica.
  • First time getting completely wasted. Also Jamaica(18 year old drink limit:D). Not many people can say their first time getting drunk was at a swim-up bar.
  • Spent a whole week in OC, Maryland by myself in my family's camper.
  • Fired a gun larger than a .22 rifle. My brother brought his 30.06 up over thanksgiving.
[*]Got a Droid Razr, first 4G phone and loving it.
  • Ponies took over my life.
  • My Forza Pony Design was featured on a massive Brony news site.
  • Discovered a love for music. I use to hardly listen to any music at all, now I don't know how I lived without it.
  • Got a ride in a Corvette Z06:D
  • Lost 50lbs to bring myself down to 195 at 6'2"
  • New headlights and grill on the Blazer.
  • Got a set date for heading into the USCG.
  • Set foot on the newest Coast Guard response boat while touring a base. I am a sucker for exposed wiring and brushed aluminum:drool::bowdown::drool:

Low points?

  • I :censored:ed up a rim on my mom's Camaro by scrapping it against a curb:guilty:. I was avoiding some jackass who decided that he had right of way despite the Stop sign on his side, so it wasn't really my fault, but I still feel bad about it.
  • My Uncle, who lives in Maine, probably won't be able to make it to Christmas this year.

Other than the usual small stuff not many bad things have happened to me this year.

It's been a good one. A really good one.

If you'd asked me last year it would have been a much different story.

And sorry to hear about that, matty. I hope everything works out alright.

High points

- Goodwood Festival of Speed, amazing amazing day.
- DTM at Brands Hatch, again, superb days racing
- World Series by Renault at Silverstone, first trip to Silverstone, and it was free!
- A number of incredible and memorable nights out.
- Promotion at work (recent this one is).
- Very fun camping holiday down in Cornwall with 7 other mates, was an awesome trip.

Low points
- Some memorable nights out, for the wrong reason (face down in a bus stop, paralytically drunk and taken home by police?)
- Best mate left town
- Went through a few months of bad anger problems and minor depression

Not the worst year ever.

High Point: obviously joining GTP... or getting my new laptop

Low Point: Breaking my wrist when I fell off my bike, 3 weeks before we went on holiday.

Good points

- "Discovering" and watching MLP FiM. :D
- I got to scare the 🤬 out of kids on Halloween.
- Finally rode a steel coaster at an amusement park. Specifically Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. The Storm Runner was a blast. 👍
- Almost 4000 posts here on GTP. :)

Bad points

- Dodge SRT4 ACR got into an accident, then it was deemed unrepairable by the mechanics. There goes the family sport car. :(
- I didn't go out of the country, nor have I ever in the first place. Only left the state once this year, like every year.
- Ocean City (MD) was boring this year. Really wasn't all that fun as last year.
- Q-Steer broke within 2 days of having it. (Look it up)
- Hershey Park only I rode the Farenheit (Might be spelt incorrectly) was very boring.

I don't seem to do much...

High points:

- Loosing my Nandos virginity
- Finally deciding what to do with my life

Low points:

- Family members getting ill
- Missing out on several great opportunities
- All of the deaths in Motorsport, Dan Wheldon's passing hitting me the hardest.
- Not being able to see people as often because of work/their education
- Spending too much money
- Gaining too much weight

Not bad for my first 'proper' year.

High Points:
Flying by plane for the first time
Going to Cyprus on my birthday
First time out on the p*ss
Arsenal F.C beating FC Barcelona 2-1

Low points: Kind of lost contact with close freinds splitting up for college

All in all though, great year

Sorry about the news matty. Best of luck to your mother:tup:

Probably this year has been the lowest year of my life. I better get my act together to make sure years like this won't follow.
2012 will be a crucial year for me, and it may very well decide my future as a whole.

Positives this year I suppose is that I have gained knowledge so rapidly.

- Acheiving Grade 4 Piano and Grade 8 Cello.
- Completing 2.5 of my A Levels (and school).
- Getting my first girlfriend.
- Going to the British Grand Prix.
- Becoming Principal Cellist of my local Youth Orchestra.
- Getting guaranteed unconditionals from universities already.
- Confirming I had perfect pitch.
- 2000th GTP Post.

Only bad point I can think of is being stuck in Corsham for 3 months by myself while all my friends go off to uni. :grumpy:

Arsenal F.C beating FC Barcelona 2-1

Low points: Kind of lost contact with close freinds splitting up for college

Surely should add "Arsenal FC throwing away a 4 goal lead against the might Toon Army" to the lows? ;)

February: Turned a really good friend into my girlfriend. GREAT SUCCESS!

March: -

May: Company BBQ

June: Sealed the deal, moving out in August. Trip to Normandy.

October: Don't know what happened was playing F1 2011.

November: See October.

December(so far): Girlfriend is arriving tomorrow, company christmas party.

Wasn't too shabby.

Highs: Got a PS3 and GT5. Joined GTPlanet.
Lows: A friend of mine has been diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. She has a slim chance of making it.

Well, I touched on this somewhat in the other forum, but this has been a rather great year for me. Vegas in March for my birthday, Orlando in the summer for vacation, & then a small trip to San Antonio just recently makes this one of my most traveled years in a long time. Other highs would be buying out my car from its lease in January, re-connecting with a couple relatives, & gaining some really close friends. My photography, despite an amateur, has also been getting some recognition this year, & I've even had a few owners request pictures and found that some turned them into their FB profile pics. :)

Only a month left in the year, & hopefully, it ends on an even higher note.👍

High point? Moved out and went to FSU.

Low point? Went to FSU.

Well I had my first trip away alone with my girlfriend which was fantastic.

I watched my Canucks go to a Stanley Cup final.

I bought a car.

I finally got healthy and gained a nearly 40 lbs in weight to get to the healthy weight.

Never really had a significant low point, one of the years of my life actually. All the low points were last year thank god.

January: Had a really awesome time in a hockey tournament, won in a shootout to make the finals, then won a nail-biter 2-1 to win the finals. Canada lost the U20 Hockey finals, so that was a low point.

February: I visited McGill University and Concordia University in Montreal, and saw the Montreal Canadiens (my favourite NHL team) live in Montreal for the first time (they lost unfortunately.)

March: Went to Europe (Budapest, Prague, and Krakow) on a school trip, got really drunk for the first time, started having some good conversations with a girl I kinda liked, but that went nowhere (I was upset at the time, but it was a blessing in disguise)

April: NHL playoffs started (Montreal eliminated 1st round :(), got a new phone (Blackberry Bold). Did a 30 hour famine at a friend's house for World Vision.

May: Started really talking again to a girl who I've been best friends with for a long time, and my feelings for her started to change (see July for more details), Osama Bin Laden died, had a falling out with one of my good buddies after he called my mom a bitch.

June: Got my G2 license (meaning I can drive alone), and my social life took an immediate upturn :p. Finished school, visited a cousin from Nova Scotia who came to visit with her new baby

July: -For the first half, worked, golfed, and hung out with friends. Then Harry Potter 7 part 2 came out, and I went to see it with some friends and the girl I was talking about in May, this girl and I kept talking and she's now my girlfriend :)
- Second part was visiting with family from Nova Scotia who came to visit, and then hanging out with my girlfriend.

August: Lots of time spend with my girlfriend, started getting into Ponies, and went on a trip to NYC with the family, saw a game at Yankee Stadium (they hit 3 grand slams!) and got stuck in New York because of Hurricane Irene.

September: School started again, a very fun end of summer party (on labour day weekend), was the man of the house for a week when my parents went on an anniversary vacation to Italy, and my birthday on the 30th.

October: The county fair was in the first week, and that was a ton of fun, hockey started again (both my local team and the NHL), and went to Canada's Wonderland with a big group of friends (2 of us drove up in our dad's SUV's full of people).

November: Hmm, nothing really too exciting or bad happened here, a few hockey games, some fun times, some bad math tests, nothing too exciting.

December (in progress): Had another hockey tournament, this time we lost in the semi finals, it was a pretty disappointing loss, but the tournament was a lot of fun.

This was easily the best year of my life, far and away the best. Between making new friends, finally getting somewhere with the girl I've been interested in for a long time, being able to drive, and getting closer with some other good friends, it's been a fantastic year. No really low points whatsoever.

Highpoints: Got my first proper job
Left main school and went to 6 form
Aherm "lost it" aherm
I played a lot of football

Lowpoints: All the work from 6 form
Injuring my hand and ankle quite a few times.
My mum becoming very stressy
And worst of all my grandma was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer :(

BUT, I look in the positives and look forward to a new year :)

High Points:
Moved into a new house
Got a new laptop
Made a couple of new friends
Got a new PS3
I became a brony
Seriously enjoyed (and still enjoying) the new SR
I learned how to video/photo edit (kind of)
Set up RVR
Got to meet my step fathers 2 children (who live in England)
Had a pretty good school year

...and hopefully i'll have a good Christmas!

Low points:
My Grandfather (Who I got on very well with) passed away...
My Cousin has been diagnosed with cancer (For the SECOND time, and she's only 7!! :()
(Bear in mind I got told on these first two things on the same night :()
My PS3 YLOD'ed
My old laptop (I had it for 5 months) broke.... twice!
I lost my PSP
Nearly killed my sisters laptop with a Rouge AV
Took Chemistry in school

Overall my year wasn't to bad but it could have been much much better than it was

Going to continue and re-do my high and low points like everyone elses. January: +Continued to visit my oldest brother a lot -Second oldest brother got divorced (he was really sad. -Teased a bit at school, started losing friends. April: +Stopped believing in God -Failed 3 science tests May: +Got 99% on a math test -Friends stopped talking to me, I was a loner. June: +Passed math with 70% +Passed English with 84% -Social life eroded. July: +Started bike riding 3 km a day. -Was still a loner August: -Same as July. September: +Started Grade 11 +New Friends +Great B-Day Madden NFL 12 +2000 posts October: -Uncle died +99% in Accounting tests. November: +/- nothing December so far: +gifted premium +3000 posts. Started good, went awful, ending great.

I can't remember exactly when everything happened, so I'll just put it in high and low like several others in roughly chronological order.

Highs:

- Became much closer to God.
- Got my driver's license (first try :D ) and my first car.
- Got to play in concert with and solo with Dave Steinmeyer (I doubt many people here know who that is).
- Got a piece that I wrote performed in concert, and I conducted it.
- Took a girl to senior prom.
- Had the time of my life enjoying the end of childhood with my friends in high school.
- Graduated high school. Man, how I miss it.
- Cars 2.
- Top Gear season 17.
- Went to see a DCI (Drum Corps International) semi final competition in Pennsylvania with my best friends from high school.
- Got accepted to my #1 choice college and music school, and got enough scholarships to be able to go there (which is where I am right now).
- Experienced the wonders of college life and specifically the amazing music school for the first time, including performing with numerous exceptional ensembles.
- Had my first ever plane flight (and my second one a few days later!).
- Legally became an adult (turned 18 yesterday! :D )
- Got my first girlfriend over the summer.

Lows:

- Said girlfriend from the summer, with whom things were going perfectly, almost like out of a movie, decided to leave for no reason whatsoever.
- Got into a bit of a cold war with certain professors in the music school blaming me for things that were not my fault and completely out of control. Luckily, that was resolved.

Overall, this has definitely been the best year of my life so far. So many amazing things happened, and a good number of the most important moments in one's life occurred. I finished the first book of my life (childhood) and started the second, I had no less than four life dreams come true, and I can happily say that I lived it to the fullest. I have a handful of regrets, sure, but overall, they fade away when I consider all of the fantastic events that took place for me. Here's hoping that 2012 will be even better, for everyone!
