I actually find no problem with it at all (though perhaps it is a bit too close to the M-Coupe from the side), and it already looks 14.2 million times better than the 612.

From the profile and rear views, yes. From the front it's actually uglier.

How they pulled that off is, well, almost an art form. :odd:

Saw thread title, thought it was referring to the drivetrain. Thought:yuck:

Saw the rear and profile. Thought:)

Than the front.Thought:scared::yuck:

How does this thing fit into Ferrari's other goal of trying to boost fuel efficiency? Its gonna be f'n heavy.

I really don't like this thing. I mean it looks alright besides the blandish front, but the name sucks. Being the Ferrari Halo model sucks. Porsche can make sedans and SUVs because, well, Porsche has a demographic that drives them and they aren't $400k hatchbacks.

It is lighter than the 612, uses stop start and I think it is called HELE technology to improve fuel efficiency.

I don't know how anyone can call this or the 612 etc. Ferrari's halo/top car. It has always been the biggest car but ask anyone what the most recognised Ferrari is any given year and they will tell you either their supercar attempt (enzo/f50/f40 etc.) or their current base model (458, f430, f355 etc.)

First time i saw the pics: :yuck:

Second time i looked at pics: :odd:

Third time i looked at the pics: :)

When i looked again this morning: 👍👍

I had the same thing with for example the Mercedes SLS... didn't like the first looks but started to appreciate it more and more...and finally when i saw it in real life i just loved it...

Guess this will be the same... 👍👍👍

:)

spy.

^That happened to me with the SLS too... :)

About this FF... mmm.. The front could look a bit odd, the one of the 548 look a lot better in my opinion and from the side view remind me a lot of the M Coupè, but overall I found it great and about handling and overall performance I'm pretty sure it's amazing. I can't see a fail like some people say. 4WD Ferrari? Why not?

Like somebody said before, I thought of the M-Coupe BMW the first time I saw the side profile. This car isn't ugly nor it's beautiful... It has good spec and it's unique!

From the first day I saw this posted on Autoblog, and until now... and even in a few days, weeks and months on, I still can't believe Ferrari actually made this!!! A really bold move by Ferrari none the less... 👍

Bold indeed. Uglier than the Scaglietti in my opinion, should bolster a really sportif handling though. I read the AWD system weights -50% less than conventional systems and it has the Ferrari's celebrated adjustable suspension. However, I still can't get over it's profile view. Rest it's ok but that alone really puts me off.

Rear 👍
Front :odd:
Profile 👎

The rear end is gorgeous, the side profile reminded me of the Z3 Coupé, which was meh in my opinion, but the front end is disappointing.

I must admit I'm proud of their dareness, but by designing such an untraditional car Ferrari could have done it in many other more interesting and original ways, they went with the 458-like front fascia which is brilliant on the 458 but overdone for a wagon.... Why not use something more discrete and compliant with the sleek body and astonishing rear end? I was expecting more Cali and less Italia, or even some touches of the wonderful 599.

Anyway, the lucky folks driving them will still have the gorgeous ( naturally aspirated, which is a gift nowadays ) V12 and have sort of an all-season Ferrari. And that catapults this car to the cool class in a hurry. Lovin' it. :D

6 months from now & once we can see the car in person, I'll bet most of us, myself included, will probably change our opinions on it.

I watched the 599, California, & 458 meet the same comments the FF is getting right now, and change completely within a year. It's like Pininfarina just knows we'll come around.

Quite like what I see, I agree with Dan about how they should've based the front end on the California or 599 though.

The first Ferrari the I wouldn't be caught died in. Hands down one of the ugliest cars I've seen. What was Ferrari and Porsche with there Pamamera thinking. Funny story about the naming of that Porsche though, look it up.

It was named from the Carrera Panamericana, which is coincidentally, where the Carrera comes from & what was once regarded to as a very dangerous race.

So, where's the funny?

Don't know why there's such hate for a Panamera, I think it looks great and certainly better than this Ferrari and also the fatty Aston Rapide.

 Wonder why they pictured it from the back only.I am in the category that Thinks Supercar Manufactures should only make Mid engined Crazy supercars .Who would want to buy this there are alot of people who would want to.I do think it doesn't look bad at all though (Ducks under table)

Is it just me or is everyone comparing it with the Z3 M Coupe because, y'know, it's the same type of car?

It's a shooting brake. All shooting brakes have that characteristic shape. It's no more a Z3 than it is any other 'brake:

(Anyone else noticed that the Z3 doesn't actually feature the "hoffmeister kink"?

Certainly not Ferrari's first 'brake either.

I officially declare the shooting brake to be the most loathesome shape of car. Even more than the Crossover. And the SUV.

In fact, crossovers and SUVs suck most of the time, they're heavier, uglier, gustly and mostly, slower than similarly priced cars. But they do carry some utility, a tall driving position and a bit of offroad ability, which is why they're practical soccer mom mobiles and family haulers.

Shooting brakes however, fall into the category of: Interesting sport coupés ( or sedans ), morphed into a practical and ( generally ) well designed wagon-like sportscar. I honestly like them a lot, specially this one:

I still don't get the front fascia of the FF, but as a whole, the car is gorgeous. Ferrari knows how to do their things.

I would go ballistic if Nissan had cojones to build this, though:

Tuner's special, it will never see real world asphalt, though.

^Is that a prototype?
Its a Nissan Stagea M35 with a R35 front end conversion done by Kids Heart . Not as good as the Nissan Stagea Autech RS260 though... :indiff:

homeforsummer: I never realize there were other Ferrari shooting brakes besides the Breadvan. Was that a one-off prototype or something? :odd:

Edit:
So what does FF stand for? I guess Four-Four for the drivetrain and seats maybe?

Apparently, according to Wikipedia it meant "Ferrari Four" as in four seats and four-wheel drive.
Ferrari FF

Yeah, I think they were basically one-offs, or maybe limited runs. It was a time when design houses like Pininfarina, Bertone, Zagato and the like thought very little of producing crazy yet stunning coachbuilt versions of production cars.

They're an acquired taste but I love them. There's an elegant utility about them. You don't usually get utility from a sports car, and rarely get elegance from something with utility, so it's a good combination. The Lynx Eventer I previously posted is a gorgeous thing, much more distinct than the regular Jaguar XJS, and the Reliant Scimitar (above the Aston in my last post) is probably one of my favourite old British cars. Not least because you can actually buy them pretty cheaply now which makes them very tempting.

I compared it to the M Coupe as it is the shooting brake that I am most familiar with, and also the one that I like the most (its one of my favourite cars, full stop.)

Looking at the variety of shooting brakes you posted, I much prefer the examples with shorter rear-overhangs, for their 'stocky' stance. I personally find the rest to look a little ungainly. I've never seen the 924 before, but I love it 👍

I like the new pics Peterram430, I think the 3/4 angle looks even better than a square-on profile shot.

That Porsche is sick.

Any other pics of the front end? I don't really like how the angles Ferrari provided do nothing to give a feel for how the car looks. Give us some 3/4 shots or something.
