Interesting news... Singapore contract extended. There were rumors late last year or earlier this year that they wouldn't renew, but the party is going to keep on going.

Which means I have a chance of going... someday... If school and diaper payments permit.

Ferrari being realistic on twitter.

It will be tough for us: a place in the top three rows will be a reasonable result.

HAM and VET will be the clear favourite in the fight for the pole position, with their team-mates obviously very strong as well.

EDIT - niky, it says a lot about Bernie's commercial interest in the Singapore GP that they got a new 5-year deal for a reduced fee.

Yup. Singapore has become the Monaco of the East. Certainly, the track isn't quite as iconic, but the atmosphere is terrific.

Charles Pic will have 20 seconds added to his race time tomorrow and will also have to do a day of community service for overtaking cars in front of red flags

Lotus going SS in Q1? Signs ain't good. Kobayashi also needs to level up, too.

Interesting. RBR worried about midfielders on SS. Going out again.

Edit: Bye bye Kobayashi.

Wonder if they can get under 1:45 with this year's car? Didn't really want to read anything into FP times... Figured people would have pace in reserve.

Senna go bye bye, now, too. Wreckedit.com

Massa and Schumi in danger of being bumped off. That Force India is pretty keen.

And no surprise, they're out. But so are Kimi and Sergio. Shame.

Wait... Schumi made it in.

Was hoping Hulkenburg would make it, but it didn't happen. Surprising that Raikonnen didn't make it, wasn't expecting that.

Wonder what bit Kimi, bad timing? The track really is evolving rapidly, and Grosjean is up there with the big boys. Maybe if Kimi had just gone out a few minutes later... He set an early lap, as did Grosjean. Then Grosjean went back out and went much faster.

I think Grosjean used all of his super soft tyres up to get there.

Used 'em up, but still got there. Kimi had two runs, and didn't make it. Grosjean set his lap after Kimi pitted, I think.

Hammy at 1:46.3. Amazing how much of a difference last year's blown diffusers made, even on a track like this.[/captain obvious]

Third row, Alonso, as is expected.

Unexpected is Maldonado on the first row, ahead of Vettel, beside Lewis. I smell fireworks on the first lap.

Good job by Button, to get that close to Vettel.

Hamilton rubs the wall for good luck on his last lap. This will be a nailbiter of a race tomorrow.

Crashtor or not, massive respect for that qualifying performance by Maldonado.

Even more massive respect if he brings it in on the podium without stuffing it.

What I look like as a Vettel supporter, considering Maldonado is right behind Hamilton at the start of the race:

I don't admire Maldonado, but I do love the surprise factor. So, it was a Hamilton vs. Vettel private fight, uh? :D

I suspect he will win the battle for corner 1 and I think he'll either crash or win tomorrow.

Shame it's a slow first corner, I'm hoping Pastor doesn't get a good start because I see a pile up in turn 1. Apparently Lewis was faster in the middle sector on his second lap, I'm not sure if it was significantly faster though.

Indeed. Pastor has gone fastor, lets hope it's not a disastor

Come on, that's painful. :D

Maldonado to put in a respectable performance and finish just outside the podium and not cause any crashes.

How good is that Williams, really? Senna having a time of it trying to get into the top seventeen, while Pastor SECOND. Wild. If the midfielders keep throwing monkey wrenches in Qualifying and during Raceday, Alonso's title run might hold till the last two or three races.

I dunno, it seems that the driver is a big factor with the Williams.

I think Senna isn't gelling with the car at all at this track.

I think the car is good and Pastor seems to drive closer to the limit than most of the drivers above him which makes him faster but as a result he rarely scores points because he pushes too much. I'd like to see Bottas have a full race weekend in that car.

Alonso has really grown in these last few years. His attitude (and mental strengh) is amazing.

(just watched him being interviewed)
