So Canadian police started using the new Fords?

My local police department has committed to purchasing a few of them - I saw one on the road a couple of weeks ago. It had someone pulled over, so I slowed way down and was consequently able to get a good look at it. :D

I'm in NY, all we have are Chargers, Crown Victorias, and Impalas as police cars...they're not even the newest models...

EDIT:

Haha, I see this every day :D

I haven't seen a Charger cop car apart from my uncles who just had a dash light. He traded that in for a 2010 Challenger though 2 years ago. I think I may have seen an Impala before but not very recently.

Were at in NY? I'm over by Darien Lake.

I've often wondered about how good of a track day car you could make out of a used police cruiser. Strip the interior out, and it would still be heavy. Supercharger maybe?

There's a guy around here that uses a P71 Crown Vic without really any upgrades for autocrossing. He does surprisingly well.

Better than what we get in england :D
^ What, really!?

Yeah, havent you seen Hot Fuzz? He gets an Impreza at the end.

Meanwhile in reality the fastest car my local police have got is a PETROL Astra rather than Diesel. Ahhhh the movies.

Down here in Florida, almost all the new police cars are Dodge Chargers.

Depends on where in Florida you are, I see quite a few late-model Impalas in the Pensacola/Milton area, Chargers are a very small proportion of the force and that includes City, County, and State patrolmen.

FWIW, the Taurus police interceptor should be painted flat black, so it can reach this level of coolness:

I live in the Tampa area, and more often than not, I come across Chargers than Crown Vics.

^ You mean 'flat' matte black...
:sly:

Meh. Flat, matte; six of one, half a dozen of another. It's all the same to me. :indiff:

FWIW, that Taurus P.I. is really, really sleek - me likey :D:tup:

Kinda figured as much, I'm guessing that's where the funding is allocated the most heavily presently.

Orange County.

Looks like Shelby American has started designing a new police cruiser out of the Mustang. This was the concept vehicle that was released today. Looks pretty cool, needs some work though.

I think it is but only as a mockup and not having been built yet.

Really? If this turns out to be "a thing", I'm going to be royally pissed. The CHP does NOT need any new vehicles with the Explorers on the way. Stop wasting money.

really cool, looks like a power-train due to which i think now the crimes on the roads are going to decrease a lot.

Do not highing while post.

Our Sheriff's department has taken delievery of a plethora of new vehicles, and I dont know why...

They seem to have a Ford Taurus (Pictured above), a couple of those new Explorers, a Chevy Tahoe, black with a slightly less-black "Shasta Count Sheriff" logo on the side(actually looks pretty sick), and a new Charger.

Why they chose to buy from different brands eludes me...

I'd love to show pics, because the liveries are kind of neat, but I always see them on the road, and I feel like using my cellphone to take a picture while driving with a cracked windshield would just draw too much attention...

Although, when the city gets rid of its 2007~ Crow Vics, I want to snag one for Autocross...
