Standard is a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine producing 240 horsepower (on premium fuel) and 270 lb-ft of torque while returning 22 mpg city / 33 mpg highway. More power is available via a 3.7-liter V6 generating 300 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, which returns 18 mpg city / 26 mpg hwy. The MKZ Hybrid is also back offering a combined output of 188 hp from its 2.0-liter four-cylinder and electric drivetrain. EPA estimates aren't available for the MKZ Hybrid, but Lincoln says it should remain America's most fuel-efficient premium sedan. All-wheel drive is an option for both non-hybrid models, which also receive six-speed automatic transmissions and paddle shifters, while the MKZ Hybrid is front-wheel-drive only with a CVT.

It is part of [James] Farley's plan to differentiate the Lincoln shopping experience from the competition. He compares his plan to how five-star boutique hotels have differentiated themselves from chain hotels. No doubt luxury shoppers appreciate added layers of personalized service, but they also are very brand conscious, and it will take years of getting everything right to put Lincoln on equal footing with the likes of Mercedes-Benz or even cross-town rival Cadillac.

Now that's what I call a cohesive design. Thematic. It's got a language, man, and the whole thing just works. There are shiny bits where shiny bits should be, there are dark bits where shiny bits shouldn't. Often people complain that healights and taillights are too large on production cars, like beady eyes - well there you have it, this car's light assemblies might as well have been taken straight off the concept car. It's got various other little details that make the design unique and interesting. It grabs your attention without being glitzy - it's fancy looking for sure, but it's elegant rather than boisterous. Probably not a future classic, but it stands out in the Age of Ugly Cars.

Looks very good. If they build it properly, like a Mercedes or a BMW it must become a success.

It looks fantastic, though the beltline should be about a half or so inches lower. I like the use of the Ecoboost four.

That looks better.

The butterfly grille (it seriously looks like one) looks better than the waterfall grille.

The thing that sucks about that push button transmission is that you have to look down at the dash to put it in gear. Gone are the days of reversing, slamming it back into drive and going. Oh well. I guess when you're so old that you'd buy a Lincoln, you don't just do things seamlessly anyway.

Oh, and if they want to compete with the Lacrosse they should probably put out a price. Are there any kind of plans for an eAssist-type feature on this thing?

edit: Derp. Lincoln MKZ hybrid. Wonder what kind of mileage it gets.

Close enough.

Here's my theory: Given the same equipment, this car will get the same or better highway mileage than the outgoing model because of improved aerodynamics.

i was pretty impressed when i saw it, i love the roof and the interior, and i always liked the new lincoln wing type grills, they look different than all the other grills on the road, only tiny gripe is in the side profile towards the rear, i would make it so the rear roof/trunk line is a little slimmer and keeps going instead of leveling out sooner and lifting up to create like a mini spoiler if you know what i mean.

I have a feeling Ford/lincoln stuff in the coming years is gonna kick ass after selling aston and jaguar

Huge, obnoxious, chrome grill.
That side profile is just so damn nice.
The raised trunk reminds of the 1st gen Lexus GS, which for some reason I've always liked.

Actually I believe only the grille surround, going all the way around the headlights, is chome. The slats are gray/silver. There's two textures in this one to tone it down.

Its the best-looking Lincoln we've had in the better part of, well, 40+ years. Although the Mark VIII looked great in its day, it hasn't aged well... Considering it would be better to just forget the '70s, '80s, '90s and most of the '00s at Lincoln, this is massive success based on photographs alone.

The part that gets me here is that it IS a Fusion underneath, and neither one looks anything alike. That cannot be cheap for Ford to do, but if they want to turn Lincoln into a legitimate Cadillac-fighter, this is the way to do it.

I'd have to say that, based on looks alone, I'd get it over the LaCrosse without having to think about it. Versus the Regal? That I'm not so sure of. Either way, its a damn-good-looking sedan, and by every sense of measure, it is a surprisingly good time to be a fan of American automobiles.

There was an interview posted somewhere when the Ford concept came out that previewed the new Fusion. Said something about how headlights are getting too big and that Ford was going to put an end to it. Looks like they are heading that direction. 👍

Shape looks good. Face and rear end do not.

Don't look half bad on the inside though!

Like it. Rear is awesome. Front not quite as nice, and side could do with a lower beltline as it's visually a bit bulky.

And that's the largest sliding roof I've ever seen. Just... massive.

Not sold on the interior though. Lincoln has a little way to go to match the design of European brands still.

That's one of the best looking American cars I've seen. It's a 100% better looking then the previous MKZ and I didn't think that was a bad looking car either. Even the interior looks pretty solid, although the MyLincolnTouch won't work terribly well unless they get Microsoft to sort it out. Even with the latest update is still doesn't work that great.

And that sunroof thing is awesome too.

The looks are a huge improvement. Not spectacular for me, but it's not an ugly pile like the last one was.

If they build it properly, and it doesn't characteristic cheap feeling of all the Lincolns, then it is a valid contender.

I would have never spent $50'000 on a Lincoln, never seens where the money goes into the old ones! But this.. this maybe be fine. I hope to see this at the next Toronto Auto Show so I can give it a look over.

I do think this Lincoln looks stunning. Not going to say amazingly beautiful, but very much a gorgeous automobile. Me gusta.

That's a really sharp looking car. Everything just...works.

Outside of the radio antenna, there's nothing I dislike about the aesthetics of the car.

This is practically what I was gonna say. The rear end of this thing is awesome, and I love the interior. The previous MKZ was a good looking car but this thing raises the bar, got dammit.

I just hate that center air vent. What were they thinking?

+1 for the rear lights running across the back, i have always loved cars that had that (like the alfa 155 or the nsx).

Surprises me that car designers don't dare to style the rear lights like that more, with all the eccentric lines and shapes in the showrooms nowadays.

You think it's hard to swallow for the general public, and i just have a weird taste here?

This... I know everyone around is loving it, however when I look at some isolated bits of the design I actually enjoy it, but when I picture the whole car I don't think it's that much attractive. :odd:

If they were consulting potential customers about the design, I'd say loose the poorly placed antenna, design some butterfly-esque air vents to go along with the car and incline the beltine a bit more to soften the bulky rear end. Other than that there's neat detailing and a obvious quality look to it, looks like Mullaly wants Lincoln to catch up with the Caddy boys.
