So, apparently, Kurt is using the same Impala he used to win last year at Daytona in NNS. If the entry list is true, he will be the only person driving a 2012 car. I know there is a little disadvantage in running an older car ( Kyle Busch going winless with 2011 cars last year.), but is there a difference in the performance of an Impala compared to a Camaro?

Don't see why not at a place like Daytona. Seems a good move.
 
Might be a small advantage, look at the front ends

Pretty much that's what I was thinking they were going to do. Penske are essentially running Challengers reskinned as Ford Mustangs.
 
I think the Nationwide cars are still on the same basic structure as the last few seasons, just new sheet metal, unlike the Cup cars.

Still, odd that they kept it around, I guess he liked it that much?

Nationwide cars haven't changed since new body style, the front was just changed fiberglass wise not structure. You notice the lower series rarely get big changes more than once in blue moon but Cup does because most money is there while trying to find best package for everyone.

Doesn't shock me to keep those cars around as they only need a couple anyway and nothing needs to be changed overall.

Go look at truck series and who is running older chassis, keep in mind that 2013 aren't always new just had damaged fixed and new tags. Justin Lofton won in a chassis from 2010.

UPDATE2: Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin has received medical clearance to return to on-track activity beginning with this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway in the #11 FedEx Express Toyota. Hamlin was injured during an accident at Auto Club Speedway and has missed the past four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races while recovering. Exact plans for this weekend will be determined by the team at Talladega.(JGR)(5-3-2013)

I really think they should have waited until next week at Darlington, there is too much chance he could get tangled up in a violent crash at 'Dega.

He won't be anywhere near the action. He will be trailing way behind the main pack, probably on the verge of losing the draft, which he has done before at Talladega.
 
Just a random question but does anyone else (apart from myself) bet on the outcome of NASCAR?

And yes I have won money in the past and have had my picks miss out on the win by less than a second twice this season

Well then why are you complaining about how a driver is going to race since you obviously weren't good enough to become a race car driver yourself. Especially when said driver broke his back a month ago.

EDIT: On a completly unrelated note, let's all chip in and buy a 2008 NASCAR car

I wouldn't picked Dega or Darlington to come back, I'd test it during All-Star race which gives you time to see and less wrecks there.
 
If he'll only be in the car until the first caution comes out, then I don't really see the big risk since all he has to do is ride around in the back and it essentially means he'll be out of the car way before the craziness begins.

Seems legit.

I agree that Hamlin shouldn't be racing 'Dega. Honestly, I wouldn't even race him until next season, he's only hope to make the chase is the wildcard. I understand sponsors and his lust for racing, but seriously the man just broke his back.
 
2:00 PM will be the indicator if Sunday's race will majorly suck or be epic, because that's when we get to see if IDIOTCAR made any rules changes.

That car has been on the market for a while. It's been in Hemmings Classic Car for well over a year now. The price has come way down as well.

Guess they thought ebay would bring better luck.
