Fun fact- without the barely ever there 44 car, we'd be stuck with a 42 car field for Sunday.

I'd be willing to bet if that happened, no one would even notice.

I believe I posted my proposed rules changes at some point in this thread, but here they are as a reminder:

1. Eliminate the Chase
2. Reduce schedule to 30 races while increasing track diversity
3. Fastest 43 cars in qualifying make the race, no provisionals
4. No more kiddie rules (lucky dog, wave-around)
5. Increase pit road speed by 10 mph at all tracks
6. Make sure Brian France, Mike Helton, Robin Pemberton, and their friends/family can never get near the sport again

More track diversity is greatly needed. As much as some tracks are considered icons of the sport (bristol, darlington, charlotte, daytona, talladega, etc.), we DON'T need to go to these places twice. Yes they provide exciting racing but there are a lot of tracks that can provide just as, if not more exciting races than these. A few more short tracks and road courses would really seperate the true champions from the ones who just have good mile and 1/2 & superspeedway packages.

Also I don't like seeing some fulltime cup guys qualify out of the 43 car field but get a spot in the race because of owners points or whatever rule they have. They take away chances from under funded guys who actuall are faster than them just because they have a big team. Yeah, people go to races to see the big names but if they don't qualify fast enough, they shouldn't race.

These along with other things you mentioned, I would love to see be done in NASCAR. As for pit road speed, not to big on that just for safety reasons and don't see how that would help NASCAR. Explain please why you want it increased, very curious.

On why I would like to see pit road speed increased, there is no significant data that shows that accidents occurred with a higher frequency when the speed limits were higher (1991-whenever they were lowered to current levels). Also, mandatory SAFER barriers around 100% of the inside and outside walls, because as we've seen in recent years, the cars will find a way to hit an unprotected wall at a bad angle.

Hmmm, very well. Yes, saffier barriers need to be implimented on alot of tracks actually, not just NASCAR tracks. I was at the Auto Club race this year to see hamlin hit the wall. Didnt look pretty from where i was. Even recently at Suzuka with the ferrari (458?) and the official. Railing is nowhere neer enough for the speeds race card reach these days.

Look at Watkins Glen in recent years with NASCAR. Jason Leffler, Jeff Gordon & Sam Hornish Jr, David Reutimann. Thats just one track. No, we can't predict where drivers are going to crash. We CAN take precaution and put safer barriers where ever we logically can. The safety of drivers and fans should be the first thought in their minds (even though they probably consider whats most exciting for spectators/drivers and how they could profit). Just throwing around my own opinion though.

I agree about the barriers though I am not so sure about pit road. I don't know what data is available, but I have been watching NASCAR on tv since before we had full time coverage in the mid 80's. I seem to recall pit lane being a much more dangerous place in decades past than it is in recent times. While it may not be entirely due to speeds, better trained crews etc. who knows? I have seen many terrible accidents on track, but you are talking about people in roll cages, fire suits and all. When it comes to human bodies in contact with 3000lb metal monsters I think it is probably best to err on the side of caution.

Switching to Ford was a mistake for penske.

Of course! Since he's having a decent season anyways and Logano is doing better than anyone in the 22 car last year. But since he's not leading the points, it was a mistake!

Let's be honest, it was the best move for Penske. Staying with Dodge wasn't going to work (and they were seemingly on the way out anyway), Chevrolet have Hendrick at the helm and Toyota have Gibbs. Roush-Fenway has been struggling and Penske has spent a lot of time with Ford in the past. Penske have a chance at being the top Ford team, that's better than going with any other manufacturer.

Logano has honestly surprised me. He's been doing reasonably well.
Keselowski has got to find some form quickly, or his year is done. He's embarrassed himself in the media enough, let's hope he doesn't embarrass himself too much more on the track.

Really hope you saw the "in your face" sarcasm there man.

Matt Kenseth with the Grid 2/GameStop paint scheme

Here is the wrap.

And a few more schemes!!

Running at Texas in June, Martinsville in October, and Phoenix in November.

For 11 races, including Dover.

And speaking of Johnny O’Connell, he will drive the No. 5 CorvetteParts.net Chevrolet at Road America, the first of three road-course venues the Nationwide Series will visit in 2013.

Mr Hamlin is on a mission. Back-to-back poles. Stella run of form.

After all of his troubles, this could be his Championship year.

We can fairly predict Hamlin is more than just an underdog for a wildcard entry into the Chase.

Busch won the truck race though.

Bubba was on the pole. Look at the time of the post, uh hum grumble grumble, ugh, yup. Literally 3 hours passed...

Gotta love the way smoke just poured out of that rig!!!

Now that I think about it JGR & Kyle have a great plan. Race in the lower series and keep the young drivers from winning. Then, when some of the older drivers start to retire the young guys won't be able to get really good sponsors because no teams will be able to sell them as winners. Without the great sponsorship money flowing in Kyle will start to dominate the Cup series like he does the NW & Truck races. Future multiple-time Cup Champion in the making.

ICY, that's about as ridiculous as Jack Roush dumping FORD and going to Chevy. Or even more far fetched, Toyota.

One thing I learned from playing pool with buddies, you're only as good as your competition. If you play against lousy people, you tend to play like crap. But if there is a player far better than you, you step up your game and play sharper.

Honestly, my true thoughts towards this statement and the person behind it would get me banned from this forum.

Now then, onto Dover. Cup race should be interesting, JGR seem to have near unstoppable pace at the moment. Could come down to fuel saving though...

I hope not, the scourge of NASCAR...

Fact is though, it's to be expected. It's a major staple of series that have long distance racing that focus on preservation as well as overall speed. NASCAR does try to get around this by using rock-hard tyres and not giving teams telemetry and fuel gauges, but it still is going to happen if you need to fill up the tank.

To be honest though, I appreciate it. If we didn't have that side of affairs, we could expect an even more comprehensive domination by JGR and HMS.

How about a 50 gallon fuel cell. Keep in mind F1 cannot refuel after those lights go out. This stupid "green" commercial with "The Biff" is a crock of pooh.

No team currently races all three series.

And there is a massive difference between JGR and KBM. Just look at the Nationwide program.
