NASCAR needs to put a stop to the start and park.

I don't think there's anything they can do; when the fields and budgets get thinner, this happens. If you set a minimum cap on race distance (say, one-third or no prize money), you might have cars trundling around too slow, which could be a danger to the other drivers. They qualify, they can run as long or short as they want to. I highly doubt you're going to have much of the field do it, because there still has to be an incentive to go for more prize money; therefore, not too many teams are going to bluff each other to see who can come up with a bogus failure first.

The only realistic idea might be to give no prize money for finishing in the bottom 5 spots (or some other number).

I think a better route would the classification system, if you don't run 60% of the race you don't get any money or points.

Ultimately, as long as none of the big teams start missing races NASCAR isn't going to do anything as they have a fear of a 42 car field.

You guys already know Allmendinger is in this 47 this weekend, well apparently he's gonna be in the car four more times afterwards this season.

At least ICEYOU is making more sense and is becoming more reliable wit his source of news and knowledge than this polobob guy.

Anyways if Dodge were to come back, I thought the Gen6 Charger looked the best out of all the Gen 6 cars. It's a shame that they pulled out it was a great looking car

Well, there's typically at least one accident half-way through, and if The Big One happened at that point, there would be more than a few complaints...

While there's plenty of talent, maybe 35-40 starters is enough for most races. They didn't always allow 43 cars at Bristol and Martinsville, and other short tracks until the past 15 years or so. Other than this year's early race at Talladega, there's rarely been a winner from 38th spot, but then again, those who actually run the entire race aren't the problem...

...point is, NASCAR needs to stop assuming crap they dreamt up ten years ago is some sort of sacred cow.

And bobby can't do that? He is a champion after all. I'd take that as an insult.

Bobby's retiring end of the year and winding down. So it's pretty much his idea.

(Or so I thought I read...)

2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte will share seat time with AJ Allmendinger in the #47 Toyota Camry fielded by JTG Daugherty Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the remainder of the 2013 season. The team is currently eyeing five races with the first taking place in the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan. The move is being made by the single-car operation to help refine the direction for the team's development of the Gen-6 Camrys housed in their Harrisburg, N.C. shop. Allmendinger believes he can assist the JTG Daugherty Racing team. "I have raced for Phoenix Racing some this year and feel confident I'll be able to provide JTG Daugherty Racing with a good comparison

Edit: is Kurt starting to sprout some facial hair? I didn't think that face was capable of growing facial shrubbery

If you have a few dollars please donate to the USAC fund for Charlie Leffler (http://www.racer.com/usac-establishes-jason-leffler-benevolent-fund/article/298767/).
Leffler had no life insurance, and he wasn't rich like many drivers, so please do donate a dollar or two.
My thoughts on Jason Leffler: He was one of those guys who was fast in literally everything he was in except for Cup cars. Kinda like J.J. Yeley and Steve Kinser, he was one of the great midget drivers in history. He was also one of those Busch series drivers who should of won a lot more races and maybe a championship or two but didn't because of the Cup guys dominating the series.
Also Bobby won't retire until he can't find a ride, which won't happen with his past champion's provisional. Even then he'll just go down to the Truck series and go for the triple crown.

Nothing says irony like a Toyota sponsored by "Corvette online"

Teams respond to Keselowski's criticism

BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski says there will be limitations to the amount of information shared between Penske Racing and Roush Fenway Racing, in part because the information can fall into the wrong hands.

Both groups field Fords, and a push is underway to have the two work more closely together in an effort to become more competitive. Ford drivers have won just two of this year’s 14 Cup races.

"What keeps it from going too far,” Keselowski told media Friday at Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., “is the fact that Hendrick (Motorsports) and (Joe) Gibbs (Racing) have this nasty little habit of going to other teams and outbidding other people and taking those employees and stealing our information.

Sounds legit.

Brad acts like this hasn't been going on for the 65 years that NASCAR has existed. He's either ignorant to it, or he needs to learn to shut up more often.

Bradley needs to shut his frickin mouth. Yes, he won the Cup last year and his hauler driver gets to park in the #1 spot, his Champ perks end there. He is not carrying himself like a Champion. That piss ant is getting stomped on by Jimmie. For cryin out loud, Joey is getting more [positive] attention than Bradley.

I'm guessing if teams were really worried about it they would make employees sign non-compete clauses.

Brad is like Michelle Bachmann, while both make some very good and valid points, they get drowned out by countless idiotic points.

Jimmie in 17th  He has the most championships in a row and starts 17th?

Is there something I'm missing? He didn't qualify better.

Now bad to BK, if teams lose employees to others and those teams gain knowledge, then maybe the question is why are they losing said employee first of all. You aren't going to be able to keep folks quiet when most things are the same, and all they are doing is saying hey why don't we try this since they saw a different way. I don't see the issue.

Dude, you ever heard of the one, the only DALE EARNHEART JR?!?! It's a wonder MASCAR dudn't jus give 'im a champineship evry year cuz of 'is nayme!!!

Yes, Jimmie is "5 time". Does that mean he by default gets pole for every race? Well, if you want to get all stupid logic like, Richard Petty's cars should be on the pole for every race AND have a 30 lap head start over the rest of the field.

Chug on that.

And I could out BBQ you ANY day of the week!!!

:Jack Trent mic drop:

Jimmie starting 17th, yep that's happening.

Deal with it.

What the heck is this, 4-time starting 29th??????? The others must be a bunch of cheaters or somethin' :irked:

I've been trying to watch the 2 hour premiere of Falling Skies [on my Dish Network Hopper] for the last 4 hours. I keep getting distracted! Gee, I don't know why!!! Where's Kyle starting and who's on the pole? Where is "Danny" starting?

It's hard to paint yourselves as the underdog vs "the man" when your owner is worth more then Joe Gibbs and Rick Hendrick put together
