Good grief, that 87 looks horrible

It looks like all they did is take the front end of a Chevy on a Toyota body.

Again, clearly you would know more about it sitting on the couch drinking a beer and watching the race, than the guy who drove the car or the crew that set up the car. Jimmie himself said what caused it, pushing too hard and wearing it out/heating it up.

In the end, who the heck cares. The tire blew, he smacked the wall, he didn't win. I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by playing Monday morning armchair crew chief.

 Yet you still avoid the valid points made and go back to the rhetoric that we all are arm chair beer drinkers (speak for yourself). The fact that you think the driver is infallible about what happened, as well as not stop to think that some of us here are engineers, racers, mechanics, etc and thus have no idea how that stuff works, is ignorant.

Also I tend to care when people skew the facts run with ****.

If the camber was too much you would think a team of that caliber would have noticed that earlier in the race, or in practice. They have tire guys that analyze each tire after it comes off the car.

The left side tires were far from new, and anyways it was the right front that blew. Again, that came straight from the horses mouth as well.

He pushed it too hard, heated it up/wore it out trying to get through lapped traffic and run down Biffle., and it blew.

Camber issues don't suddenly pop up after 494 miles of racing. They're either there from the start and causing issues or they're not there at all.

Do you really expect JJ to say "That idiot Chad Knaus obviously put way too much camber in the front end, and it caused us to give away a certain top 3 finish!"

Saying something like, "I was just trying too hard, and it caused my brand new left side tire to prematurely fail" sounds better, even if it flies in the face of all logic, since other cars went 100+ laps on left sides without any issues.

Also his tires were far more new than you give credit because as I said his pit strategy was four tire stops while others were opting for two.
You can't change camber during the race, it's not that simple also yet again, JJ wasn't even sure what happened. Here is his exact quote since you obviously can't provide stuff. Either way GTPorsche and Ryan are correct as well about the tire stuff.

“We cut a right-front tire there at the end, I guess (from) just running that hard trying to get through traffic and get to the No. 16 (of Biffle), we wore through the right-front,” -Johnson said.

Anyways, as far as this weekend goes, I really don't care for the road course guys that show twice a year. I mean before the chase idea was used, I had no issue, but with guys needing points they'd be much easier to come by if they didn't have bumper to bumper racers like Jacques and others that seem to cause wrecks. Then creating potential long term championship issues, while he goes back to his cave. I mean it is just one race and the can easily be made back up with a few good results between now and Watkins Glen, but still.

I don't care what you do for a living. I'll trust the driver of the #48 on what happened to the tire, who has stated multiple times since the crash that it was hard driving that made the tire blow out.

And for the record, I never said that you or anyone here have no idea how stuff works, and I don't take kindly to being called ignorant.

If your camber theory is correct, why did it suddenly pop up at the end of the race when camber was a non issue the whole weekend?

If you paid attention, I was not the one saying he had a camber issue. if he had a camber issue, it would be discovered at the first pit stop. He didn't have a camber issue.

I'm at work and can't provide links because a lot of sites are blocked, even this forum barely works for me, only opens in a sort of "safe mode". But the quote provided is sufficient to prove my point.

It's already Wednesday and you're still arguing about a tire that blew on Sunday, can we move on?

I read from Speed Channel's bottom line that there will be group qualifying for the race at Sonoma. It will be interesting to see how qualifying will be with this format as opposed to the hot lap format for road courses. More info on the group qualifying format for road courses:

Again- this will be a great weekend if you love road racing and NASCAR. Nationwide at Road America and Cup at Sonoma.

That was actually announced earlier this year ( In march I believe) so I've been looking forward to seeing it.

Is it wrong to laugh at the fact that the latest person to be suspended for violating the substance abuse policy, is a guy named Ryan Mess?

The "big" deal is that they FINALLY decided to use it in the Cup series, something that would make it MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH more interesting. No, that isn't an overstatement. Sonoma isn't absolutely horrible, but Watkins Glen, with it's one-chance qualifying, was actually painful to watch last year.

No qualifying today? "Qualifying" is not in my guide, just 2 practice sessions.

Here is a Recap, including "20 cars going off track".

AND A FEW PAINT SCHEMES!

Justin Marks: #7 GoPro

And..........

My friend called me last night. He is up at Road America and will be working safety crew for the Nationwide race.

I'm pretty excited for the new qualifying format. Finally some sort of acknowledgement that road courses don't really need to be treated exactly the same as ovals when it comes to procedures.

And a "ringer" done got RUNG!!!

It's really hard watching 2 things at once!!!

EDIT: oh, he's a rookie. Whoops

Well, there goes whatever plans for a retaliation shot from Johnson.
