Talladega wasn't bad.

Only the final 12 laps were any good due to the caution from Michael McDowell blowing a tire therefore bunching the field up. Without the caution, it was going to be a dismal finish with essentially zero passing even on the last lap. 👎

Remember when Daytona and Talladega were fun to watch, and not just a hassle to go through. Racing like this is what NASCAR should have aimed for with the Gen 6 car.

There can be a good race at Daytona in these cars. Just look at the Shootout from this season.....

Yeah sure, but I just don't understand why THAT race was so much better than the Daytona 500 itself though?!

Judging from the pictures, the rear spoilers on the Cup cars don't look any bigger than at Talladega, so expect more of the same terrible racing we saw at the first two last 100 plate races. 👎

Fixed that for ya 👍

How could you think that these are examples of terrible plate racing:

I think the final two examples are indicative of exactly what is wrong with plate racing: 5-10 minutes of good racing in a 4 hour race. Sorry, I didn't sift through the other 4 hours of video looking for any good racing. No doubt, there has been some good racing at times at plate tracks, but generally it is 80% boredom, 10% wrecks and about 10% racing and that is what is wrong with plate racing.

I like plate racing because chances are, the race would be boring if you replace Dega with say Fontana anyway. It also gives small teams like Front Row and Finch a chance.
Heck, even Joe is up front at some point in the Nationwide races.

Just waiting for an Oprah picture to read "You get a penalty, you get penalty and you get a penalty!"

Penalties will be everywhere.

This. There is no car nor track configuration that'll fix that.

Before James Finch closes shop he's going to use the legacy of the old paint schemes for his current drivers this weekend!

We've speculated about Austin Dillon driving the #3 in Sprint Cup before. Now with another public blessing from Junior, I think it's pretty likely that it's going to happen.

Yes we know! The #29 is going to go back to being the #3 car with Dillon driving it! Harvick is going to drive the #4 for SHR! Harvick will create his own legacy driving the #4 and will no longer have to live under his predecessor's shadow. The Earnhardt curse will be lifted from Harvick and now he will finally get his head unstuck out of his a**.

Why, this tandem racing is putting me to sleep. The only excitement so far has been Kurt overheating and Vickers getting a bit sideways.

Better than the Conga Line racing that the Cup series has

Because of what happened at Daytona earlier this year.

I must say, Logano has pushing down pat. I expect that by next year, you'll see a new aero package in Nationwide to prevent him doing what he's doing.

It just hit me what makes these races about 80% boring. It's great strategy, but falling back and staying back of the lead pack for most of the race seems to be the problem. Up until the stakes are forced up, almost everyone seems to be content with running where they are.

Jahgee- Next year? I give it two weeks they come up with something for Dega.

AND CAUTION.....while in commercials again.

EDIT: I do like the Days of Thunder stuff, including the crew eating ice cream. Good for a laugh.

I'm talking in Nationwide, no way any racing as good as this occurs in the Cup race until a GWC. Nationwide doesn't have another Restrictor Plate track until next year.
