How the heck does Danica of all people not have a PINK car! It's like some weird color of orange/pink.

The pink will wear off pretty fast with all that but I wish other cancers got more hype!
June needs to have a bunch of baby blue cars for pro-state awareness month.

Thankfully that only lasted a few races when they realized the rules were completely ridiculous. 👍 Unlike the Chase which has somehow lasted 10 seasons despite being a steaming pile of 🤬.....

Wasn't that the one with rollover points?
Possibly.
Because Daytona pays out so much even back then, the championship chase practically was whittled down to two drivers (Petty and Cale, 1st and 2nd in the 500) in February. It was an absolute fiasco.
The system before that was also pretty bad, where it was based off of laps completed. This led to Benny Parsons beating Cale in 1973, even though Cale had a better average finish, 3 more wins, 5 more poles, one more top 5, and nearly ten times the amount of laps led.
That same year, James Hylton beat Richard Petty in the points even though Petty had 6 more wins, 6 more top tens, and 14 more top 5s in a 28 race season. Petty also led 1815 times the laps Hylton led (1).
Granted that was the season Pearson won 11 races in 18 starts, but it's still pretty rotten.

I thought the thing was that you were awarded your total winnings in the year as points by the end of the race, because I remember reading that Petty got almost double the points Waltrip did one race, even though Waltrip won the race.

....... So yes, NASCAR has had plenty of stupid systems to decide champions, heck they basically took away the 1950 championship from Lee Petty because he ran in an "outlaw" event (Non-NASCAR sanctioned event) for I believe Bruton Smith (Lost all of his points at one point over the summer).
Granted that was when NASCAR was trying in vain to break away from the other stock car organizations at the time but it led to Bill Rexford being the worst NASCAR champion of all time.

Wait a minute. Isn't this the same guy who oversees ISC, which owns a majority of NASCAR tracks?

The moment you realize Danica's car looks like a watermelon with that paintscheme... Can't unsee!

A female race driver's car in the colors of a Watermelon...

Well played Godaddy, well played...

It wasn't Smith- believe it or not at the time Big Bill and Smith were talking about a merger between NASCAR and NSCRA (Smith's upstart series), made an agreement to do so eventually, then Smith was sent to Korea for two years.
When Bruton came back NASCAR was the last stock car organization standing (Outside of AAA's stock car series, which is an entire discussion in itself), and Big Bill kept Smith out of racing. Smith eventually built Charlotte Motor Speedway 7 years later, and the rest is history.

I would guess that the ones saying 2 tires can't beat 4 haven't actually watched any races and just say they like Jr. to fit in.

That being said, I do think there were team orders, but probably just the usual don't race too hard ones that are completely understandable.

Great, more Johnson Conspiracy theories. This exactly why I avoid most NASCAR fan outlets. Its amazing these ideas haven't been pitched to Jesse Ventura.

You mean those that didn't follow him during his Acdelco car back in the day.

could you imagine that episode? "We're here at the HMS HQ to get some answers!"
