You are not the only one who was bored, what a snooze fest. I didn't expect the car to do much for plate racing though, I don't think anything can fix plate racing. Hopefully they will be racy on all the cookie cutters.

The 2 car tandems was some of the coolest racing ever. I'm really upset that they took that away. I believe we had almost 100 lead changes at that talladega race where Johnson (I think) won by 0.002sec?

Come join us in the "We're only excited about the Trucks" camp Adrenaline.

That tandem racing was some of the worst racing I've ever witnessed. Nothing says winning like being pushed to the line by the guy who finished 3rd... or 4th.

Tandem was far more interesting than the 3 'follow the leader' races we've seen so far.

The fact that 3 of 4 winners in those plate races were simply pushed to the win shows how stupid the tandem racing was. You couldn't do a thing about getting passed left and right if you went alone even for a short moment.

We only get Nationwide here in the UK. Are the cars any different (in Nationwide)? Also is there a way of watching the Sprint Cup in the UK?

Nationwide used a totally new car to SC from 2010 onwards. Also NW cars a little less powerful correct?

For SC use streaming sites, only way really :(

I meant for 2013, wasn’t clear enough. I mean is there a gen 6 Nationwide car?

For the streaming sites, which are good ones :)?

Dependin on if it gets shutdown Justin TV is good, it all depends though.

I know today's races were some holding back but what I hate was even with a run like Kahne had all Busch had to do was move down and block the air. It seems like you can't close fast enough to make a real move.

Maybe, hopefully, it's just because people are being conservative to try and make the race in one piece, but thus far I'm thoroughly disappointed with all 3 races.

Hopefully you're right, or else expect this on Sunday, although the Shootout wasn't that bad:

If it's really bad, this quote from Earnhardt Sr. will explain it all:

Slightly off-topic, but this is what real restrictor plate racing should look like:

Too bad they would end up in a wad inside turn 4 due to 🤬 like the Busch brothers and Tony Stewart, plus an overall lower quality field of drivers. 👎

If you have Sky+ you can order a channel called Premier Sports. It's about £10/month, they will show all of the Sprint Cup races. Few commercials at the start and they switch to in car views when they take a commercial break in the states so even though the states are watching commercials, we're still able to watch the race.

This was talked about on the last page but the races so far were boring to watch. Personally I wasn't a fan of the 2 car tandem racing but it was much more interesting then this follow the leader deal. I think the short and 1.5 mile tracks will be great races to watch.

If they can't pass with a draft, how are they ever going to pass without one? I'm really afraid the 1.5 mile tracks will be more of a single-file parade than ever.

Well, the wait is over. It's time for Trucks, Nationwide, and Cup to all go racing in anger for the 2013 season. I extend my best wishes and wish good luck to all teams and drivers this season in all levels of NASCAR- including the top three Touring Series. May your favorite driver(s)/team(s) have an amazing season of NASCAR racing.

Enjoy this weekend of racing at Daytona.

That's a totally irrelevant comparison.

Daytona and Talladega are tracks where drivers run wide open 100% of the time. It's all about drafting, as handling is a very miniscule issue.

At intermediate tracks, it's all about handling. Grip in the racing surface, tire compounds, throttle control, multiple grooves, etc. Drafting isn't a very big deal (aside from aero push/loose but that's an element that doesn't exist at plate tracks).

Not saying the racing will be better than last year, but the racing you're seeing at Daytona does not represent what you'll see at non-plate tracks.

Looking forward to seeing Darrel Wallace Jr race in the trucks race tonight.

Also Kyle Larson in Nationwide tomorrow

Theres some great young talent coming up now.

Not to drag this topic into a discussion about the worsening idiocy of NASCAR or anything, but the idiots in the booth will proclaim this the best season in decades even though the racing will possibly be worse than ever before. 👎 And the idiots who run NASCAR wonder where all their "dedicated fans" are at the tracks and watching it on TV......... Thank God F1 and the IZOD Indycar series start soon.👍

They aren't stupid, they know the racing has been bad (Even Kyle Petty, the biggest tool in NASCAR, more or less admired so last night).
Do you want them to go all ESPN and bad mouth the racing for 4 hours on Sunday? That would only make things worse.
Also, if you want actual racing, follow the Trucks. No politics compared to Cup (Most of the time), in my opinion the best announcing crew in NASCAR, you have a good mix of old vets and young up and comers, and the racing is off the wall.

Dependin on if it gets shutdown Justin TV is good, it all depends though.

WiziWig is the best streaming site in my estimation. It streams sport from all over the world. I caught a bit of the start of the Practice Session coverage today on SPEED.

Currently a 63% chance of rain for Sunday; those new gizmos for clearing the track are going to probably be put to the test.....

Calls NASCAR idiots... brings up IndyCar.

:p

That being said, the racing has overall been rather dull lately. I still think a big part of the problem is the number of events, teams aren't going to push very hard if they still have 10 races before they even have to start worrying about making the chase. I think they need to get rid of the 2 races/track thing(save for Daytona but make the July race at the road course), cut most 1.5 milers and add some more road courses. That would give about 20-24 events which would be a good amount.

At least the fantasy game I run remains interesting even when the real version sucks.

Somebody connected to Dale Earnhardt will win the 500 on Sunday and continue on his legacy. Probably Harvick or Gordon.

Out of a loaded field including such Truck Daytona greats as Kyle Busch, Todd Bodine, Ron Hornaday, and young guns like James Buscher, Ty Dillion, and Bubba Wallace......... Brennan Newberry trolls and wins the pole.
