Well. Time to watch golf. Was hoping that maybe the new car fixed some problems but that hasn't happened. What a terrible race.

Well, Goodbye, and thanks for dropping by . . .

I believe there are some F1 and Golf threads somewhere around . . . should be.

Question to the gang:
Why did Kenseth slow down? As soon as that started to happen I knew there was going to be an accordian. Too fast even for the spotters to relay.

Not sure, but he might have gotten too close to Jimmie, which just naturally slowed him down enough to cause that.

People on here are butt-hurt about them driving single file, lets see you do better. If you can drive around Daytona in a line of them at that speed, then you have the right to complain.

I'm sure it would be a lot more exciting if I was driving the car myself, but that doesn't change the excitement when you're just watching it. So far this is like they made a new flag with yellow flag driving rules but twice the speed. I shudder to think what Talladega will be like.

Funny thing is this exact same kinda racing happened with the old car before the COT. Seems like Restrictor plate racing would be better off just not happening anymore because it no matter change is made to it, people just hate it.

And with good reason. It takes the driver out of the equation and turns it into a crapshoot.

I'd really like Darrell Waltrip to explain to me just how similar Indianapolis and Daytona are, because I don't really see it.

As long as the plate is used, there's no fix for it.

I was thinking about maybe if they used a smaller engine for restrictor plate tracks. Ones that produce maybe a bit less power than a short track engine but not nearly as much torque, so the draft has an effect but not as much as this... carousel, and the drivers can still do something by themselves.

Smaller engines, or specific ECU mapping for Daytona/Talladega.

I was actually surprised they stuck with restrictor plates when they switched to fuel injection.

Smokey Yunick more or less suggested the same thing before he passed away (And remember this was the guy who made the SAFER Barrier prototype and had his car "sweep" Daytona in 1963)

Thanks for this.

I know the NASCAR regulars are finding it a bit dull, but I'm enjoying the novelty of actually getting to watch a live race - only the second time I've done so, and the first Daytona 500 I've seen.

Also, Tony Stewart... one of those sparks gets in your eye and that's potentially career game over...

I love how the second someone bashes Nascar they are automatically labeled an F1 fanboy.

Beg your pardon, didn't call you one, Demon Drone - I'm sure you like Golf as much since you mentioned that, too. I can understand your disgust with some aspects of the world you inhabit, it's unfortunate.

More green flag stops. That was a good stop for Danica.

And really, trashing NASCAR drivers for wrecking and praising F1 drivers? Hello? Grosjean? Maldanado?

Not on purpose. The last guy in F1 to crash on purpose was Nelson Piquet Jr. Wouldn't you know it, he's in Nascar now. :sly:

They love making toyota look SOOO american in these commercials. lol

You mean the designed-and-built-for-the-American-market-by-Americans Toyota Camry vs. the designed-and-built-for-the-Australian-market-by-Australians Chevy SS?

No worries, if that one dies which it did to me, Im on this one now http://lsh.streamhunter.eu/static/popups/136736862329460.html 👍

I just can't believe that Kyle's crew lifted the car enough to get the jack back under it. Then again, I have noodle arms.

The Ford Mondeo driven by the champion isn't totally American either is it?

All "American" cars are globally sourced, meaning that some of their parts (and even some component assembly) come from outside the US. The Camry does just as much assembling of their car in the US as the traditional American brands.
