Sure Gibbs wins a lot, but that's with part time Cup drivers.
Last I checked, Roush has the last two driver championships, while the only full time Gibbs driver has struggled.

Last I checked, Ford could not even find sponsorship most of the time for Stenhouse or Bayne.

Gibbs did land the owner's championship, even though Logano only started in 22 of the 33 races. Also, Gibbs cars have won a lot of NW races in the last few seasons, whether it's with Logano, Kyle Busch, or Denny Hamlin. I don't remember Carl Edwards or Brad Keselowski winning nearly as many Nationwide races, even when they ran full NW seasons a few years ago.

"No team can claim the success in the Nationwide Series that Roush Fenway has, and I know driving an RFR Ford will provide me with the maximum opportunity to develop my skills behind the wheel of a stock car."

Hey Travis, Joe Gibbs is holding on line 1. :dunce:

Yeah, I read that and thought "Are you kidding me?" That just has to be textbook Kissing up to the employer.

Jeff is over the hill, past his prime and there are too many better drivers out there.

BK, Johnson, Kyle, Stewart, Edwards, Kahne, Bowyer, Truex, Harvick, Kenseth, Biffle, Dale Jnr all have a better chance of making it.

Driftking18594? I didn't know he's a NASCAR driver now...

wow i cant believe I just read that!

I also don't see Jeff making the Chase this season.

I'm going to mark your words.

Yes, JG is past his prime, but remember what happened in the last two races last year.

In 2010, Gordon got into a fight with Burton after having a rough season. 2011 had him win 3 races. Who's to say something similar won't happen this year after him putting Bowyer into the wall at Phoenix? I can see him being a major threat for the title this year (although my early prediction put him around 7th in points with 2 wins).

Well he obviously is.

Thank you.

5 DNF's killed Jeff this season. And I risk getting 95% of NASCAR fans trying to kill me, but Dale Jnr is most over-rated driver in NASCAR today.

It's tough to leave guys like Gordon out of the Chase, but I just feel he's no longer where he used to be.

For the record, this is what I said earlier.

Yes, Jeff is certainly fast, but other drivers are gradually starting to move ahead of him.

Agreed. He did fine this season, but man, those 25th and 21st places from 2009/2010 aren't going to disappear anywhere. :p I'm really surprised he's still not a champion despite all the top class equipment he's had over the years.

And on my list, if they had better equipment, I would add Kurt Busch.

Kurt Busch is definitely a dark horse for the Chase. Everyone thinks that they can't make the Chase due to being underfunded, but if you look at Kurt Busch's stats for the last few races, he has 3 top 10's. That's really impressive for a team like that.

Blame his mostly blind fanbase, not him.

Also, thats been known for a while so nothing new about that.

Nationwide as discussed further up had only 17 full time drivers - it has:

Virtually no talented drivers.
Talented drivers are often cup guys running odd races.
Talented NW drivers are in crap equipment.

I was watching a video of the Busch series @ Talladega in 2005, it was so much more competitive then.

Because I'm annoying?lol

EDIT: I was just watching the pocano race that logano won. What makes him so good in nationwide, but makes him suck at cup?

The competition is just so much stronger. So many more drivers who are capable of winning on any given week. In cup there are 25+ teams that might be able to win at any race. In nationwide there are maybe 15...?

Rushed to a Cup ride so never really learned and developed properly (though to be fair, they really didn't have much of a choice there once Stewart shocked everyone with his move.)

Most of which are Cup teams.

No talented drivers? I think the quality of the field is OK, even though Stenhouse has been claimed into the Cup now. After all, Vickers is now full-time in NW. ;) Oh yeah and Smith too.

Yes this 2013 season does look better.

And even if the field has quality, they are mainly start and parkers.

I think we can expect a good fight between vickers and smith with those two being in good equipment. And I think the smaller field will help with the amount of start and parkers.

Won't alter the fact there's still going to be around only 20 guys who show up for every race. Just be three less start and parkers with the field size, same amount of finishers however.
