I honestly believe Ford will have a marginal advantage this season. Something just tells me they will.

They had the Superspeedway package last season.

Is it just me, or does it seem like damn near all the returning sponsor paint jobs are just copied, pasted, and stretched to fit?

Excluding Montoya and Earnhardt Jr, they basically are.

I cant see anyone having a real advantage for the first while anyway until a team figures something out that gives them an edge over the competition. And it wont last long if it does happen. I can say i HOPE ford has an advantage lol but thats just speaking as a Logano fan. And as for ford having an advantage at the superspeedways, well we'll just have to wait until this weekend and see how the testing goes. But even that wont say anything for sure.

Ive heard a couple people said it drives somewhat like a nationwide car because of additional downforce taking away from straightaway speed. Which makes the line more like a nationwide line i guess. Logano said its like an nns car on steroids lol. Which also makes me think he will be more successful in the gen 6 car... however, like with all things its just speculation at this point. But it makes for some exciting story lines and expectations across the whole sport coming into 2013..I personally cant wait!

Last time there was a new car in NASCAR it seemed like Hendrick got the most out of it at first, maybe time for history to repeat itself?

True, and from the test at charlotte it looks more like chevy is fastest across the board but they also have more cars. I honestly believe a team will get an advantage before a manufacturer. Most likely Hendrick, Roush, Penske, Gibbs among others that have the resources. The right minds together can hit on a setup that will beat everyone, and its the same from week to week. Unpredictable really. As soon as any particular manufacturer wins a few races before another does they will "have an advantage" of some sort. Which I believe is just not true, when u have more chevy in the field the odds are simply in their favour that they will figure something out before the ford guys do. Or hit on a great setup a few more times. That doesnt necessarily mean that particular manufacturer has an advantage.

GO JOEY!! #22!!

Chevy looks fast based on the front nose design as it's not as flat as Ford if you look at the pictures. Granted superspeedways seem to look like Ford's can hook up better.

Yeah, and as we all know, Hendrick got the first win in the COT (Kyle Busch). And when Dale Jr. won the first race in the Nationwide COT, was he in a JRM car (Hendrick car) or Childress? Either way, I believe HMS will get the advantage early.

It was a joint effort between JRM and RCR. I think it was a JRM car, because when I went to Charlotte in August it was sitting in the JRM shop.

What made this interesting was it was indeed a collaboration between JRM and RCR, but Also Hendrick (at least I think that was what was under the hood). If I recall correctly, It was run under JRM with an RCR car and a Hendrick engine.

Seems like a rather unnecessary name change and one that will only confuse fans. I can see it going back to the "Shootout" name next year.

I think its probably a sponsor issue. Its the "sprint" unlimited... and sprint has unlimited plans they are always advertising during races. I think either budweiser backed out or sprint offered to put more money into it. This is just what i think i have no evidence. Just makes sense to me.

Yeah, I'm still caling that the shootout. Screw the "Sprint Unlimited", that sounds so stupid. What was wrong with "Bud Shootout"? That was a perfect compromise of sponsor promo and decent name. This just reeks over-the-top levels of in-your-face promotion/product placement (like we don't get that enough at the Coke Zero 400 or in NASCAR in General).

R1600Turbo
Ditto.

Pretty sure there's testing at Daytona at the end of this week too.

Yeah Preseason Thunder. Starts 2 PM Est. Thursday. Anyone know if its Friday too?

I think NASCAR simply wanted to return to the pole sitters only format and Bud said no and instead offered to sponsor both Speedweeks and the Duels.

If I recall, Pre-season Thunder is usually a three-day event.

I would rather have it called "The Shootout" instead of "Sprint Unlimited". Who the hell thought of that name?
