It would be funny if they pull cell phones with the start position as the background, but who knows thats a great question?

Wow I never thought of that its been the bud shootout so long I can't even think of how theyd do it different.

Yeah I remember in past allstar races they used some flip phones to help invert the field but that wouldn't work now

Thanks guys for recanting your statements but i understand why your skeptical and you have every right to be. Plus NASCAR is my number 3 favorite Motorsport but living in Daytona its kinda hard not to follow it. I am personally a Sportscar and F1 kind of guy and love studying the evolution of aerodynamics in F1 and Le Mans i wake up @ 2-3 am for the Asian GP's and WEC races

Like ALL the Racing. I don't care what it is. They can be racing spitballs for all I care.

And also, Juan Pablo can't hit the jet dryer this year. :grumpy:

Trust he will break up Danica and Ricky's loved tandem on the final lap of the 500...

I take it you don't like JPM. Not that I have a clue what 'can't hit the jet dryer' means but I don't think, looking at the roster, it won't be easy for him to do that. He seems to be in one of the bigger teams but theirs so many others with more experience like Johnson, Gordon and Busch who even is familiar to me as NASCAR drivers and I just think they will probably get the better of him every time. Certainly Gordon who is a 4x Sprint Series Champion.

What I mean is NASCAR isn't using jet dryers this year, so he can't crash into them. He is on a team that has a pretty good amount of money, but the team overall was just lacking in performance the past two seasons. Look for that to change with the switch to Hendrick engines.

It's only a trial basis with Daytona. If they see it's better, they'll stick with it and drag them to all the tracks.

I'm thinking it's time to get passed the Montoya-jet dryer deal as it was a part on the car that broke and sent him into it with no warning.

I know I know. All I'm saying is, Montoya can win 8 championships in NASCAR and the biggest thing he's going to be remembered for is that incident.

True, but his car was already broken and he was going like 160 under caution when it happened... i call that a bonehead move..and he'll never live it down...anyone else ever gona forget the big fireball in turn 3 for over an hour? didnt think so...broken car or not .. he stuck being "the idiot who hit the jet dryer" lol

A. He was catching up to the field which is a completely normal thing to do when one leaves the pits under caution.

B. Who would have known that the part, which wasn't broken when they looked at it, would have snapped as Montoya hit the brakes when he approached the turn.

C. It was a year ago.. move on.

He said he could feel something in the car that let him know something was wrong. He never hit the brakes going into turn three. he should have been going a little slower.

Really? We are still talking about this? He didn't do it intentionally and people can't seem to get over it.

Hell we are still talking about things that happened years ago with some drivers.

If anyone actually listened to what JPM told anyone on the radio was seconds before the event happened. He was fine down the backstretch and then he said he felt a vibration and then as soon as he said that it took off up the hill.

I've been a strong fan for a long time 👍

And sure they're not under DuPont anymore, but the same people who came to Jeff 20 years ago and created the "Rainbow Warriors" are still going to be with him this year just under a different name, Axalta. It's not all that bad at all!

This is actually his 21st season in Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup. It is his 24th overall year in NASCAR.

And I messed up myself. This is actually Gordon's 22nd year in NASCAR Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup but 21st full year.

Ahh yes, the debut at Atlanta in '92. One legend coming in as one legend heads out. I wish I could have watched that race live. Between the championship, Gordon, and the end of the King's driving career, that race must have been incredible to watch unfold.

After the recent announcement about Gordon's sponsor going from DuPont to Axalta, I feel that it was a fitting end for DuPont to get a win in its final race under that name, especially being the 20th anniversary scheme.

Cant you just say sprint cup? lol?

No I won't say Sprint Cup and I'd rather say Winston Cup because that's where I remember the sport being at its best and now its too ridiculously commercial.
