Who's Greg Biffle apparently according to FOX. Nah he's nobody important.
 
That's my main problem with Danica. She's an okay rookie rushed through the system and heavily promoted over much better drivers because she is a woman (I'd rather see Lil Gator get a shot with a Cup team instead of her). She's the female version of Jr., if Jr. never accomplished anything of note so far (David Gilliand has a Daytona 500 pole, that should speak volumes as to how much actual skill is needed)

Yes, because only a complete hack wins both Truck and Nationwide titles than goes on to finish 2nd in the standings at the Cup level.

I also don't see how not winning a Cup title is a bad thing, Mark Martin never won one and he among the best all time.

Which had me thinking, what if an openly gay driver came to the series? I doubt he'd receive the same kind of publicity and treatment.

There's been plenty of women in racing, and plenty who's been better than her, and plenty more who'll be better than her, too. Someone might want to tell the folks over at Fox/NASCAR about that...

*cough* *cough* Jeff Gordon... :lol: jk. I honestly think that Johanna long is a way better driver than Danica.
 
The reason Johanna Long doesn't have a better ride is that unlike Danica, she won't stoop to the level of performing "extracurricular activities" behind the scenes. :yuck: Call me completely insane, but it's something to ponder..........

How about all the families of NASCAR taking rides from more talented drivers?

Theres two Labontes, 2 Keselowskis, 2 Busches, at one time there were 3 Earnhardts, 2 Wallaces, etc etc. The list is almost endless.

Racing is pretty much about how well you can market yourself. Danica got her shot because shes an attractive female who played her cards right and made the most of it. Dale Jr got his shot because he is Dale Sr's son and he made the most of it, like the endless list of NASCAR families. There has been 4 Pettys in NASCAR.

Its part of racing. Racing doesnt require near superhuman genes or ability like many sports. Driving a racecar fast is more or less you either have naturally or you dont.

In the end its just a business. If Formula 1 was really about the fastest drivers the grid would look much different then it does. But bills have to be paid and drivers who bring sponsors get the seats first.

I would for sure pick Johanna in a 2 piece and in a car way before Danica. Call me crazy but Danica has crappy attitude with way too small for me.

Actually there have been 4 earnhardts (Jeffrey, Kerry, Dale Jr and Sr), 3 Labontes (Terry, Bobby, and Justin), 4 Wallaces but you get the point there is a crap load of family drivers.

Racing is a weird sport were you might but at the top of the charts, if you have money you can play the game.

No knock on NASCAR though, F1 has had racing families, 2 Sennas, 2 Hills, 2 Schumachers, etc and would likely have more if there were 43 seats like NASCAR

Just sayin Danica played the same game as many drivers before her, just a little differently.

All the bashing she takes makes her rage out on drivers who wreck her, as she thinks they're trying to boss her around.

Maybe I'd like Danica if she wasn't a prick. I've never seen her admit to a mistake before, not even when she failed to dump Cassill at Kansas. She says "I want to be known as a driver, not a female driver" then turns around to shoot a commercial for GoDaddy wearing a bikini.
Jr. would of never made it without having his dad's name, and he never met a product he didn't want to shill, but at least he admits when he is wrong, doesn't try to wreck people, and isn't a hypocrite.
(On a personal note........ I'd also take Johanna in a two piece and in a car over Danica anytime :) )

Thats debatable, I think personally that Dale Jr. would be a Nationwide driver without being related to the Earnhardts.
 
I think Jr lost the motivation for a while.. partly due to the drama with his stepmom and the falling apart of DEI. Last year showed that he's still capable of being a top driver in the Cup Series.

I think that 2005-2011 Dale Jr. didn't have the talent, pre-2005 could have been a champion while 2012-Present Dale Jr. has the talent of a Jeff Burton circa 2002

My point is that people keep implying the ONLY thing that got Jr there was his last name when he also has the talent that actually. He's got the wins and championships (neither in cup, but they still are championships) to back this up, unlike Danica who still only has that one indycar win.

Yeah, Danica would be a truck regular if she were a guy.
 
Sorry chaps but I am going to try inject an honest tone here. Really, i'm actually going to congratulate Danica on the Daytona 500 pole. One of the fastest laps for years, and honestly you know what - GOOD LUCK to her.

The biggest issue with Danica as we all know isn't perhaps 100% her fault - media. She came with a whole load of hype from Indycar, and that carried over. In terms of driving she is probably as focussed as anyone else is in the Sprint Cup. But in the end we all hate her because of the media attention, which is overblown.

Perhaps we should agree that really Danica we have no issue with, but it's the media overhyping things. So what if she has a relationship with Stenhouse at the end of the day? Would we give, I dunno... Johanna Long and John Wes Townley same press coverage if they were in a relationship? I think not. And there will come a stage when it will get too much for her, all the media hype.

Bottom line is Danica is still a racing driver whilst the press think NASCAR is becoming one of those trashy celebrity magazines. It's good for ratings yeah in the general eye, but the true NASCAR fans are there for the RACING.

And did I forget to mention it's Speedweeks? Come on! We got two Gatorade Duel races, a Truck Race, Nationwide and the DAYTONA 500 itself in the next few days.

How about less "Danica-Danica-Danica" and more "Boogity Boogity Boogity"?! :cheers:
