From all the racing at Daytona this past weekend, I want to give a shout-out to Darrell Wallace Jr. for finishing 12th in the Trucks race at Daytona. I like this guy and want to see him move up the ladder. He's got a strong future in my view.

Trucks were at the rock last year correct? Precursor to a future return perhaps?

It won't get in Cup but possible Nationwide.
They return to the Rock in April.
Also the whole reason why the Busch series began was to run the local tracks (Back when it was sportsman) and have a few big races at the crown jewel races back then (Daytona, Dega, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Darlington), not to be Cup Jr. Same with the Trucks.

They will be back this year as well. If you've ever been to The Rock, you will know that the possibility of it getting the Cup series back is extremely low. That track is in the middle of no where.

Trucks actually seem to stepping away some from Cup tracks. There was talk of Greenville-Pickens and Myrtle Beach.

Hell I went to Busch races at North Wilkesboro, Hickory (scariest stands alive), Orange County. I don't mind big tracks but fewer or different atleast. Darlington was awesome when trucks where there and when I feel inlove with them. NASCAR really needs to step back and try to change it up.

Cup can stay the same for most part, Nationwide needs to mix both truck/cup to make theirs, and trucks need mainly their own. Daytona, Charlotte, Martinsville, Bristol, Dega, Darlington would be all the tracks all 3 would run on as far as I'm concerned.

Cup could use a little more variety, tbh.

I was surprised that Atlanta was off the truck series schedule. I really liked the truck races there. Always had great finishes.

Am I the only one that thinks NASCAR should just switch the Nationwide and the Cup cars, the Nationwide ones have the better racing & better models.

That's just one type of racing, done 4 times a year. I'm sure NASCAR will look over the cars and see if anything can be done to make them better at racing at the Super Speedways. These cars are new and relatively untested in race conditions. The COT wasn't as good when it first started out compared to it's final evolution.

I can't really remember a time when restricor plate racing was interesting save for the first 20-30 laps and the last 10-20.

You know I didn't even notice that til now. Trucks seem to be trying to head a different way and honestly I think group them with K&N some weekends would be perfect.

Take the races away from Pocono, Give one to Darlington, and give the other to Rockinham. It's as simple as that, even though i know NASCAR won't go for it.

There were some talks with NASCAR about the K&N series going there with the possibility of a truck race the year after, but some neighbors complained of loud noises and said if they don't run mufflers, they will file a complaint.

Got back home from Daytona last night.

Sunday's race was rather boring, even the last few laps. Not sure if it was the new car, or the driver's were trying to not have a repeat of Saturday's finish.

Seemed like everyone was wetting themselves with excitement because the 2 car tandem is gone and the high speed parade lap racing is back, no idea why.

Our seats weren't far from the big accident on Saturday, far enough that we were ok.

Or simply because that would be counter-intuitive. I'd rather Pocono NOT lose a race unless its to another unique racetrack.

Agreed. Less 1.5 mile trioval tracks should be the first priority.

Why is Pocono so bad that replacing it with more anonymous mile and a half races should be a priority?

Because people call it boring and too long and everything. Honestly I love having Pocono on the circuit and as opposed to axing a Rockingham or Darlington race (nothing against the racing but people weren't showing up at the races) Pocono still draws due to its proximity to the NYC and Philly area.

Anybody who calls for Kentucky to be taken off the schedule, remember Bruton Smith has said he'd give Vegas the date, and good luck with wrestling him out of that date.

Pretty sure the K&N Pro Series does run at the Rock, they've been doing it before the Trucks came back.

Personally, I'd take away a race from Pocono, but only because I think only the "big" tracks like Daytona, Charlotte and Bristol should get two races.

But yeah, less 1.5 mule tracks, more short tracks, more "unique" tracks and more road courses.

Am I the only one who thinks that Darlington should hold the last race, that being the Southern 500? It's one of NASCAR's oldest races and among the most famous.

The only "cookie-cutter" track that should hold a second race is Atlanta. The Spring race wasn't so enjoyable, so perhaps move the second Atlanta race to the Chase and have the first after the Summer race at Daytona?

I see what you did there.

The Southern 500 was a Labor Day tradition, the fact that we can have it on a Sunday holiday and let it be a night race is a small miracle.

I think the current schedule's perfect.

That said I'm probably in the minority who enjoy watching 3 hours of cookie cutter acing.

You are indeed probably the only one. Its sort of difficult when you consider that:

Kentucky/Chicago/Las Vegas/Kansas are pretty much clones and
Atlanta/Texas/Charlotte are clones. (Also California/Michigan).
