I can somewhat understand Newman's position especially after the 2009 finish at Dega and then being in another wreck where a mid-air projectile...I mean car, comes at his hood/windshield again...

The spring 2009 wreck with Edwards was pretty bad, but I always thought Newman's fall 2009 Talladega wreck was much scarier.

For anyone who didn't see the finish.
Thanks. I had to watch IR3, so I missed the end. 👍

If I was Newman, I'd just do what Hamlin did and find someone else to drive the car. Yeah, he's a big whiner, but I can understand since he's literally the pinata on these plate tracks.

Hi there. Do you guys know where I can find full races of Nationwide? Actually, we have Sprint Cup on a channel (AB Moteurs) and Nationwide on an other channel (Motors TV) here in France. But Motors TV has stopped their programs for France so I can't watch Nationwide :(.

Its become a running joke that Newman's car will somehow become destroyed at least once a year at a plate track.

Was doing yard work most of the day so I had to tape the race and watch it last night. Totally worth it for the finish. (plus I got to blow through all the rain delay time filler garbage) Great to see a small team steal a victory from the big teams.

As I suspected the plate racing was much improved over February at Daytona.

I was more delightfully surprised with the quality of the racing last night. A lot of fans were expecting single-groove racing where the only way to make it to the front would be side-drafting off cars in front. The Goodyear Tyre setup here worked very well and a mix of 2 and 0 tyre pit strategies made the shuffling of race cars even more interesting.

I use this channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/NASCARplus
It uploads the Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Trucks and K&N Pro as soon as mondays, sometimes even sundays.

As for the big Newman/Busch crash: I think it was a good thing Busch landed on top of Newman, because it looks like Busch would have rolled a couple times more if Newman hadn't caught him.

I did like the way the end of the race played out, with one group of cars chasing down the lead group. That is, until Stenhouse put his car in a spot it wasn't going to fit.

Glad to see smaller team win like that. Ricky pulled a bonehead move trying to fit there too.

Newman isn't exactly happy much anymore it seems, but his luck on plate tracks is not exactly great.

Anyways, here is Matt's NNS car for Darlington

Would be nice if he races Nationwide around September in a Gamestop/GTA V scheme.

Maybe Danica's "driving talent" is starting to rub off on him......

He has torn up a fair number of his own cars in the beginning too but I laughed at she did everything but blame him for the wreck too.

Quite frankly it was already there even before he met Danica (2010 season, various scuffles with teammate, failed passing attempt at Kansas last year), it was just a matter of time before we saw it again in Cup.

Breaking NEWS!

Finch's Phoenix Racing to wrap up NASCAR operations July 28

Lack of sponsor taking toll on 62-year-old owner

Thanks a lot for this, I can catch up on Saturday's Nationwide race as well as all the K&N races they tape-delay 👍

As for the news, pretty real it seems this time. One thing I never understood (at least going off the Kurt Busch Documentary) is why he would intentionally reject a sponsor because it wasn't "Big enough". Anyhow, gonna be strange not seeing a Nationwide series team or cup team under Pheonix racing.

He has been singing the same old tune for years, so until it actually does then I think it's more to get someone on board. I would think if possibly he stop buying crap products and tried to actually grow somewhat, someone big might come on board for a few races or just look for smaller til something bigger comes,

Honestly, I hope Finch is done as I'm sick and tired of hearing how he wants to get out of the sport every year only to keep running the team. Either leave or shut up. I also have the impression that he is also just a crappy team owner that can't manage to impress any sponsors even though he has a semi-decent car and (presumably) plenty of contacts seeing how he is in the construction business. I'm guessing saying you want to leave every year doesn't exactly give sponsors the sense of stability either.

I also think blaming the economy doesn't hold up, TBR, Front Row and other teams around his teams tier seem to find some sponsorship for their cars.

As for the 'Dega race, glad to see the "Front Row" in Front Row Motorsports finally reigns true, even if it did take 406 races.👍

He has gotten much better over the last couple of years. 12th in owners points right now and nabbed Kurt Busch last season (Granted it was last minute, but I digress).
The real reason why Finch isn't leaving is because he has a contract with Smith to honor.
Supposedly he does get offers from sponsors but he typically wants multi race deals, which is why Jerry Springer pulled out last year.

Yep, that's true (In my opinion).

For those who stayed with the desire to see the #81 Doublemint, this time will come with Kyle for Darlington!
