NASCAR needs to check telemetry before dropping a black flag like that. If JPM or anyone else, was sand bagging, to cause P2 to get black flagged, they should be penalized.

Old tires can only take so much torture. JPm had no chance.

The rules are simple really, as pointed out by the broadcast team: The leader (42 in this case) has control over the restart and can go anywhere within the restart box. After that box, NASCAR has control over the start. They were not to the end of the restart box yet when Jimmy decided to go.

On the other hand, if he had just given the lead back to the 42, he probably would have been ok. But he decided to stay out front, and that bit him in the ass.

Good run by the 24 team. 👍

For once NASCAR has a rule that it doesn't flip flop on, and we still complain about it

I'm happy for Tony. He always somehow hits his groove and finds his luck through the beginning of the Summer races.

And there was DW talking about either the 14 or 24 missing the Chase this year in the pre-race show.

This.

Also, Jimmie had nosed ahead before Juan even got to the restart box, so no one needs to be blaming Juan for that.

What a joke, Montoya didn't even move.

I can't believe NASCAR would do that.

The replay made it look like Montoya brake-checked the field at the start of the restart box. I would like to see him win, but that looked like a very dirty restart for which Johnson doesn't deserve to be penalized.

Should have been a no call.👎

Well you wouldn't see it coming. Was a dumb move by Montoya and stupid call from NASCAR.

I'm a Johnson fan and a Montoya fan. Montoya did nothing wrong. Jimmie had a brain fart and jumped the start quite badly and quite obviously. Get over it.

Just waiting for all the "lol, take that Jimmie!" comments, from the same people who would bitch if it happened to anyone else.
Also this.

Just got to the hotel room. The race was fun. :)

Still wish that Stewart wouldn't have won. :grumpy:

Yes, also its partialy Chads fault for (according to jimmie) telling him to not worry about it and keep going. Even if Chad told him that though, jimmie should have known better. He had a fast enough car to give the lead back to montoya and take it the next lap. As for Montoya, it looks like he just couldn't go on his old tires.

Very nice! Did you pick up any merchandise? Where did you sit?

I sat in turn 1. The only part of the track we couldn't see was pit road.

I picked up a Jeff Gordon diecast, too. :)

So you got a good view of Kurt being loose out of 4 most of the day? Did you get a good view of Newmans incident? I haven't bought a diecast at a race in atleast 2 years. Last things i purchased were a Matt Kenseth Crown Royal bucket hat last year and a Matt Kenseth Husky shirt this year. Both at Fontana.

I saw Kurt get loose on turn 4. Like I said, I could see everything but pit road.

I also saw the Newman/Gilliland crash, though I only managed to catch Gilliland going into the wall. The fight I had to see on the screen in the infield.

But he has the whole restart box to go whenever he wants. He wasn't even to the end of it when Jimmie decided to go. Montoya did nothing wrong, and Jimmie did everything wrong. Not even sure why we are talking about it any more. NASCAR has rules in place for that stuff, they were followed, end of story.

NASCAR being consistent with a rule? That's new.
How about all the people complaining about this talk to Elliott Sadler. JPM might of held off a bit on the restart, but that isn't against the rules as long as he goes in the box, which he eventually did. Johnson jumped probably because he's used to controlling the restart by that time of the race.
It was a very crafty move by Juan. It didn't work out for him at the end, but it did get him 2nd instead of 3rd.

It did look like JJ hit the gas at the first line, and never let off. He can't go first, unless it's after the second line, and the green flag is already waving.

It doesn't matter what happened after this, Jimmy led them into the box when he wasn't leading the race. He then screwed up a second time by jumping the start and a third by not giving the position back!

Thought Montoya would have done it, getting that breakthrough win on an oval.

Oh well. Don't like or dislike Stewart, so I'm not pissed about the outcome.

Tony Stewart once again decides to lash out, but not on a Competitor, instead on non-other then Bob Pockrass. Read about it here.

Can someone just knock him on his ass already?

Also, AJ Allmendinger will drive for Penske Racing in two upcoming Nationwide Series races

Thought this was a pretty cool deal for AJ. I was really impressed with his run at the 500 so I'm glad to see him get another opportunity with Penske In NASCAR, even if its a much shorter schedule in the Nationwide Series.
