Okay.... NBC getting the races in 2015, its great. They have done a hell of job with F1 and IndyCar coverage (If you guys who don't have NBCSN, chew your cable/telco/sat tv people out NOW!), as well NHL coverage, too. Leigh Diffey has been a revelation in that he learning so much, but makes it so professional and yet fun as all get out to listen to. Also, he's got a ton on his plate (F1, Indycar, Olympics) that he's busy the whole year. While I would like to see him give a shot, I think it would run his voice and throat dry. Also, that leaves a ton of on-air talent to pick from. Anybody got anyone in mind?
 
With Bob Varsha pretty much filling out his final year on his Fox Contract, I think it'll be only a matter of time before he gets in the F1 team with Hobbs and Matchet next year. That would then leave Diffey with the Indycar series, either that or the other way around(though judging from the way they handled the Indycar/F1 weekend earlier this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see the old F1 Dream team back together for 2014). The ideal Nascar broadcast team, at least for me, would be Allen Bestwick with Wally Dallenbach. That's all right there.

I'm guessing that they will at least air the Sat. night races as well as Homestead. Not sure on any other races as they also air NHL and NFL during Sundays in the fall.

And if so, do you think the current providers will continue to carry the channel with whichever package you may happen to have? If Dish Network boots SPEED/FoxSports1 out of their 150 package, that means I'll miss even more races. That will not make me a happy camper. :grumpy:

Currently only DirecTV has a deal for FS1, the rest of the carriers are still negotiating. Unfortunately I can easily see all of them putting the channel in a higher tier due to the increased cost to carry the channel.

You know. This may sound idiotic, laughable, and worthy of a back-hand, but I have felt that ESPN didn't really take the NASCAR coverage that seriously. It was more a check than anything else, and FOX is following suit fast.

THAT isn't the coat-worthy bit, it's why I feel that way. Here's why.

I'm with you Camyron, I see it happening too. Varsha has two more races to do with NBC Sports btw because LD has IndyCar duties to do those weekends. I think it is Spa (IndyCar in Sonoma), and Korea (IndyCar in Fontana, season finale).

Trucks are a lot more open competition wise then say Cup would be at dirt because the vast majority of Cup drivers A. have never driven on dirt or B. haven't in many, many, many, many years. All of the dirt track specialists like Kenny Wallace would be stuck in some horrible ride like the road course ringers and wouldn't have the equipment to get up front.
In trucks you have about 10-12 drivers with a chance. In Cup you'd have 5 at most. That's why you'll probably never see a Cup dirt race even if somebody would make a 70,000 seat dirt track because it would be a waste of a race.

A Sprint Cup race on dirt would lead to Jimmie Johnson winning and people crying for NASCAR to remove that race from the schedule because they would think NASCAR only added it so Johnson would continue his dominance. :p

Can never watching races before 2001, so that ESPN holds no emotion to me, but here is the full length FOX one which I may have posted here before.

 
Monday Night Football? How about Wednesday Night NASCAR? We gots it tonight with the NASCAR Trucks at Eldora!

The weather tonight for Eldora should be fair and cool tonight (according to Accuweather) in Rossburg, OH. It's supposed to be a high of 73°F today and a low of 52°F tonight. There will be 30 trucks taking on the dirt at Eldora tonight. It will be pretty tough to try to keep these NASCAR Trucks stable around Eldora based on what we've seen in Practice last night. If you are any sort of motorsports enthusiast, tonight's NASCAR Truck race around Eldora is worth watching or recording.

How this race shapes up may kind of determine whether or not NASCAR's top series may want to try a few more ovals. Let's say NASCAR maybe wants to try Knoxville, Terre Haute, Dodge City, or any other dirt tracks. Maybe they want to do other dirt ovals- such as the dirt oval at Houston Raceway Park here in the Houston area. Do you think NASCAR could possibly try some other dirt ovals should this Eldora event go well?

One comment about if Nationwide or Cup would try dirt racing reminded me of when I used to play "NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition" or the very first "NASCAR Racing." Someone made some mod or patch that made the road texture look more like a dirt track for certain tracks. That would be the ONLY chance of seeing Cup (or even Nationwide) to do some dirt track racing. Wasn't Bristol covered in dirt once so World of Outlaws could race around there?

Leigh (girls spelling) "Dippy" Diffy has one of the most annoying voices in broadcasting. He, Bill Weber, DW, Larry Mac, and Dr. Jerry "Punch me in the throat" need speech therapy and then vocal lessons. I'd rather listen to Steven Hawking's digi-speak than these guys. Yes, exaggerating, but still. I was so hoping Varsha was replacing Dippy when he did race #2 or #3.

I usually use Vipbox. Not the best quality, some ads, but it works for me because it's easy. :dopey:

Edit: Although I just checked their site and they have the truck race listed for 7-25. :odd:

Are they based in the UK? The race does start after midnight in their time zone.

Knowing Cup Brass, that makes too much sense for them and they don't do sensible (sans every once a blue moon). Its amazing they even bothered with a new car.

I don't know, but it doesn't look like much dirt is left on the race line.

at Fred- Yeah, up until the same thing happens on dirt that happens now, the big teams dominating regularly, small teams being field filler, people complaining the dirt tracks are all the same. They may be complete idiots, but NASCAR can't win regardless, unless they just say "Screw you, we're done."
 
I don't know if you've ever been to a dirt track, but that's actually dirt, it's just packed extremely hard, it's pretty slick.

The lower grooves are starting to work, I bet we'll have a great show later on.
