Basically. The CTS is now the STS and the ATS is now actually BMW sized instead of in the weird middle zone that the CTS always used to be in.

Ok, cool, thanks for clearing that up.

Why don't they just keep the STS name, or did the STS actually fill a weird niche that was slightly bigger than the 5/E/A6 but not quite 7/S/A8 size and so they wanted to kill that nameplate? They had an old STS-V that competed with M5/E55/S6 while the CTS-V competed with M3/C55/S4...

The CTS was selling very well and the STS never did, and when the CTS was redesigned and massively improved it basically just killed the little STS sales there were (probably because GM never did much to actually fix the problems the STS had when it launched, leading to the more expensive STS being just a little bit bigger but having a worse interior, weighing a lot more and... being more expensive). At the time the STS did fill that same no-man's land just like the Seville had before, but the 5 and E have both gotten bigger since the STS debuted so the current STS-sized CTS is pretty much the same size now.

Also to build a bit off of what Tornado has laid down, the 7/S/A8 are large business class executive cars and not street fighting sedans that the E/A6/5/CTS can be, all of these have a high performance asinine, no reason, yet cool (to me) variant that the top of the line 130K business cars don't have unless you count the S but even then it's nothing like the SL or the E with the upper AMG work done.

That's hot. Not sure if this is enough to pull me away from the German competitors though.

I want the trunk spoiler and the hood vents painted body color, otherwise I would only have the car in black or dark gray.

I don't quite get it, is the CTS now the 5/E/A6 competitor and ATS the 3/C/A4 competitor?

Will it be an add-on option that costs x amount or will it be standard and have a no-cost delete option? If it's the latter, I'll hate to delete something that is probably actually functional without also saving a few bucks in the process.

It's optional on the ATS so I assume the same for the CTS

So this render exists:

I was tipped off by an eGarage Instagram post which uses this render but has been changed slightly by somebody. They didn't cite their source. Anyways, this exists and strange things are happening in my pants as a result.

Also @R1600Turbo change the name of this thread to something more baller. Who cares about twin-turbo V6s when we got CTS-Vs and stuff.

Makes relative sense given the ATS-V largely picking up where the previous CTS-V left off. Still a relative performance bargain compared to the M5, E63 and RS7.
