That cleared up my questions thanks! :) Oh just one reassurance.. because I wouldn't wan't to do it wrong. The race is over as I cross the finish-line for the first time after I've seen the "jonny leads with one lap to go"-message right? And then I'll just drive to turn 11 and park in line.

That's the gist, wouldn't surprise me if it's a TOR or P24 driver that takes the honors this time though.

There will be a practice session tonight in memto89's lounge at 20:00GMT (30 minutes from now) if anyone is interested feel free to join.

This is the first change weather race of the CSS, The settings will be.

Weather: 50%

Changeability: 10

Surface Water: 50%

Do you have experience with Changeability = 10 (This is a genuine question as I don't)? I would have thought this would cause the weather to go rain - fine - rain - fine all on the same lap so that the surface water just ended up averaging some mid level, or do you think there is more randomness in GT5's weather generation?

Thanks

It's actually fairly consistent; it can seesaw back and forth a little, but generally it just means that we will get to race in a range of conditions. Where as if it were on lower changeability, it tends to either, remain dry, or rain and not stop.

With these settings we've found that if it does rain for a while, then it's usually at least 20 minutes, by which point it can get into intermediate tyre range. Or we've found that it can rain hard for about 80 minutes, reaching 100% surface water, but then become sunny and go back to a drying track. It brings in a nice element of strategy and stops the rain becoming too tiresome (not sure any of us could stand 3h of a very wet Nurburgring).

You have no idea how nervous I am about this race.

Another question: Are we sure GT5 has you start the race on the type of tyres you were on in free run when the race starts (rather than defaulting to the tyres in the car setup menu)? I just tried testing this and I am 90% certain it didn't work. However it may have been because I went around the track backwards to get into the pits to change the tyres.

Any thoughts, because I would hate to have a race ruined before it is even started because GT5 sends you out on the wrong compounds.

It does start you on the tyres that you previously used either in free run or another race, normally the weather carries on so it shouldn't be much of an issue, most of us are on the backfoot anyway since we don't have 4WD cars, so we have to maximise every opportunity as we can get, because it seems that it will be raining most of the time.

However in free run and it starts to rain heavily, you can pit and change to e.g an inter, and you end up starting the race on them, rather than exiting to change tyres.

How did the practise go last night? What times were being posted in the wet ( and dry) ?

Was a lot if fun, never really took it seriously so times my be a bit off but I did 8:30.024 dry and 10:03.865 100% wet

I will admit I'm not actually sure Ninner's is right that it does change compounds however; after qualifying is completed and the starting order has been noted down, drivers are free to adjust their starting tyre using the "Driver Aids Menu" (little dial graphic, not the little spanner one).
I think checking this between qualifying and the race might be a sensible move for all of us since as you rightly point out it might have a dramatic effect on the race.

You will start the race on the tires you first joined the free run lobby with.

If you first join with dry tyres, but pit for wets, you will start the race with the drys...

its always been like that for me

Guys,

Any chance we could move the event or even the lobby I would be in forward at least an hour, otherwise I will not be able to attend,

Dave, when you say 'forward', do you mean make it an hour earlier?

If you can organize with everyone who is going to be in your lobby and arrange the time and everyone agrees with you then yes... But you will have to organize it

Welcome to the n24 mate

Maybe they could enter the final round of the CSS this weekend? Are all three of you available to race this weekend guys? If so, and if Memto approves it, you'll need to decide on a car to use and start practising/tuning.

So far the people who we have asked are not available to race, so we are very low on options at the moment.

TG is still looking for a 3rd driver as well this week. Not looking likely at this point though. Will most likely be Tati and myself.

Yes, thought I would take the step down to Room 2 for this one, I was planing to move to Room 2 at Autumn Ring, but since the other teams swap drivers, I decided to stay so I could get to race with other drivers, but this time I'm moving to Room 2 if you are ok with that.
