I'll try to spread it but I don't know who in my "social network" would be interesting in following this. All racing/gaming fans I know are in my team. ^^ But sure, I'll spread the word. But if we get people in this early won't they lose interest before February? :P

Not really coz its always being updated, and not just with racing stuff, its interviews promos etc, etc and the more people involved the better coz it means that it snowballs and more people come coz its the place to be

So we are now just 15 days away from Round 1 of the VLN. Teams are busily testing the new cars list to see what they will be driving at the Ring on 30th November, with the results of the recent CSS giving first picks to the teams that did well.

We appreciate that as these cars are 'Standards', obtaining these cars isn't a simple case of buying from the Dealership, so using a tool like
http://gt5cars.net/used_car_searches/new may be required to get the cars that drivers do not already own.

However, in order to ensure that ALL teams get time to choose/practice and be prepared for the first race, we need some structure and deadlines to this process. The first Pro and Am teams have already made their choices (CCR selecting the 370Z Fairlady, and THAR choosing the R8). Please remember that car selection for Pro and Am teams is separate, so because THAR have picked the R8, doesn't exclude it from the Pro Teams to choose also, and likewise the Am Teams could still choose the 370Z.

So, the way this will work in order to move it along is as follows:-

For the Pro Teams
TOR
will have until 2200 GMT on Monday 18th Nov to choose their car AND POST THEIR CHOICE here on this thread.

After 2200 on Monday the choice is opened up for TMB to choose. TMB will have until 2200 Tuesday 19th to post their car selection.

After 2200 on Tuesday, GORE will have their chance to post their car choice until 2200 Weds 20th

From 2200 Weds until 2200 Thursday 21st is TG's turn to post their choice

From 2200 Thursday until 2200 Friday 22nd is FRT's turn

From 2200 Friday until 2200 Saturday will be P24's turn to choose.

From 2200 Saturday until 2200 Sunday will be new team REST's time to choose

For Am Teams

T2.6K have until Monday 2200 GMT 18th Nov to make their selection and post on this thread

After 2200 on Monday the choice is opened up for NSPR to choose until 2200 Tuesday

Missed deadlines

If a team misses it's deadline then it will effectively have to compete on a 'first come first served' basis with the next team in line. So as an example, if TOR fail to post their car choice by 2200 on Monday, then TMB can jump in and make THEIR choice before TOR. Let's say TOR wanted the Ford GT but didn't post it by 2200 Monday, and at 2205 Monday TMB post their claim to use the Ford GT, then TOR would have to choose another car.

If by 2200 Tuesday TOR still haven't posted their car choice, then they are then in competition with GORE who could also post their choice.

So basically if teams choose within their designated time slot they will have exclusive choice of all the cars not yet chosen. But for every day they miss their deadline, they will effectively compete with one extra team per day until they do post their choice.

I hope this is clear, and TOR, this is not aimed at you guys I just used you as you are the next Pro Team we need a decision from.

We plan to use a similar system for the GT6 car selection process but the full process and deadlines will not be agreed until sometime after GT6's launch on 6th December.

Im opening up my lobby now if anyone would like to join me? get some car testing under your belt

I will also share all my cars for VLN to save people having to wait for them

Hello guys, just came across this thread and found it very interesting. I'm abit interested in participating in the VLN series itself, but the 24 is definitely out of the question as honestly, I don't know anyone near me to make a team for it. One thing I'd like to ask though is if I still need a team of drivers for the series or just for the 24 hour event.

You can create a AM team(only competing in VLN, not N24) or join an existing AM team

However if you're forming a team, you will need 3 drivers, some AM teams don't have 3 drivers(my team has 2 so far) so you can join them if they want another driver.

Hi Racecar. VLN and N24 are both team events. You need at least 3 drivers to compete in either. 'Pro' teams are those that intend to run in VLN and N24 ( therefore have the ability to get together at one location and race for 24 hours in a Feb) but 'Am' Teams are just committing to the three VLN races where the drivers can be remote to each other.

The three VLN races are run in such a way that we simulate the effect of a proper team event and have 3 lobbies running three races (simultaneously) with a driver from each team in each lobby.

The 'Team Result' is calculated by adding the individual race times for each team. So with these three hour enduros we are actually simulating 'Team' 9 hour races, (3+3+3) and the format rewards consistency throughout a three man team, just as it will be the key for the big one, in Feb.

If you can put together a 3 man team for VLN R1 ( either Pro or Am) we'd be happy to have you aboard. If not, we do have a US team ( Team Georgia) who raced in the previous CSS series, who may be looking for a third driver after they had a withdrawal.

EDIT : oh yes, I forgot that Ninners. THAR are also looking for a third driver for their Am team.

Nsp are also looking for drivers knukken is the guy to contact for a drive with them

Thanks for the responses guys. I'd be willing to join a team just so I don't have to worry to much about finding teammates. Thankfully, I have all the cars unlocked so whatever team I join, I've already got that car ready to go.

Sounds great mate

The teams to contact are

Team 2.6k - David Brooks
THAR - Ninners
NSP - Knukken

As far as i know they are looking for drivers but i may be wrong about Team 2.6k

I've asked NSP if they can continue racing in this series. I'll wait 24 hours before I do something.

I would like to welcome RACECAR to our team, I was contacted with an offer that I could not ignore, I hope he will enjoy his stay in the Audi camp.

That sounds dangerously close to 'an offer he cannot refuse'... It's alright Nin you can tell us, how many equine heads did you wake up to this morning? ;p

Sorry I missed the practise yesterday, would have loved to see how the different cars and drivers did, but had other stuff going on so couldn't join.

Hope there will be more practises, they're as fun as the real races. :)

Also, welcome to RACECAR! always nice with new drivers in the races.

RACECAR, if you are on FB please join our FB group for all the latest news on this series.

Note to Matt - I've added RACECAR to the THAR drivers list on the FB Group document

Team Georgia!!!!

Oh. I see you've already joined one of the European teams.

Haven't heard from @micantony in a few days and I do hope everything is ok with him. As team principal it's up to him to decide if Team Georgia will continue on to race in the VLN series. If I haven't heard within 24 hours of TG's Wednesday car selection deadline, I'm willing to whore myself out to another team as I definitely wish to continue racing. Perhaps I'll get back with NSP ay, @knukken?

I was kind of hoping Team Georgia would find a full team for February.. Hope Mic is still in and can find another member ^^
You and me both my friend. However, if Tf has a full team for February it will be without me. My move to Georgia won't happen by then and I can't justify the cost to fly there and back for the race. It's a hard proposition when you consider I've got two real race cars to build next year. And I'd hate to have it all be for naught in the case of a disconnect.

Is T2.6K still planning to run? It only seemed to be Davidb and Cobani showing for races. And if TG and NSP also don't continue as standalone teams maybe you could put together a single team from the drivers leftover.

Tati
Davidb
Cobani
Knukken

And rotate driving duties where 3 of the 4 of you compete in each VLN round. Just thinking........

Looks like the VLN series came as a chock to many of the racers ^^
With the disaster of the CSS we had to move to something else where people can get use to the racing, also with the CSS the cars are no way near what they will be at the N24, at least with the VLN its much closer and much more appropriate to the N24

and also the VLN has been advertised for quite a while before the CSS even finished

What was so disastrous about the CSS? :P Except changing forums in the middle of it that is.. I'm sorry if I sound too critical lately, I'm really looking forward to this actually.

I haven't heard from my team yet. It looks like I might have to find some racers or try joining another team.

not a bad idea.

Not sur if I can do any of the races but I enjoy racing these cars and want to at least join practice races. I've also got a favorite car already lol. I'll drive any of the cars as long as I'm having fun doing it.

This is completely unrelated to this series, but the new series I started got mentioned in yesterday's Weekly Rewind! Exciting! It runs too late for most of you guys since you're in Europe, but I'm super proud and just wanted to share. The thread link is in my signature.

That didn't go unnoticed Tati. Well done on that. Did you do anything out of the ordinary in order to get your series 'noticed' in that way or was it just picked at random?
