GT Academy 2014 Gears Up for April 21st – Welcome Canada

Gentlemen, start your engines as we gear up for GT Academy 2014. The competition starts on April 21st and will be open to all entrants through June 16th.

This will be the biggest year yet in its history as our friends in Canada are added within the US competition*. This year’s GT Academy qualification demo will be available exclusively on Gran Turismo 6, so start practicing now as you now have less than a week before the start of GT Academy 2014.

As we enter our sixth installment of GT Academy in 2014, proof of the success of the virtual to reality competition can be seen in the on track results of its graduates.

Our first ever winner, Lucas Ordoñez, is racing Super GTs in Japan as his day job in 2014 and will also team up with 2012 European winner Wolfgang Reip at Le Mans this year to race Nissan’s fascinating ZEOD RC (‘Zero Emissions On Demand’) experimental car. Meanwhile, last year’s band of GT Academy winners from Europe, the USA and Germany were all in action last weekend at Monza in the Blancpain Endurance Series in a 500-plus BHP Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

2011 GT Academy North America winner Bryan Heitkotter has shown great promise, earning three pole positions, five front row qualifying spots and two podiums racing a Nissan 370Z NISMO for Doran racing in the Continental Tire Challenge Series in IMSA. GT Academy 2012 champion Steve Doherty notched two podium finishes in seven starts driving a Nissan GT-R in the Blancpain Endurance Series last year for RJN Motorsport. Last season’s GT Academy winner Nicholas McMillen is currently competing in the Blancpain Series and will experience his first start April 13 at Monza in Italy.

"Try your hand at a time time trial on the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Nissan's electric flagship, the Leaf.
At first, you might think this combination of underpowered car and simple track will be a walk in the park, but in order to notch up a decent time hear, you'll have to use only the very minimum deceleration possible, and take an absolutely perfect line around the track. Use the kurbstones to full effect in order to keep your average speed as high as possible"

Hi guys, I've seen a bunch of people complaining about the lack of country filtering on the official leaderboard lately so I decided to spend my lunch time creating an alternative leaderboard. It's quite rudimentary, yet it works as it's supposed to work. It's hosted on a free Heroku dyno, so it may be slow the first time is accessed after an hour of inactivity.

Temp?.. So eager to be first huh? Well at least you have told me what the first event is, not a totally useless thread so thanks.
 
Time I got was 1.06.8 i really suck with this car always losing traction in the first and 3rd coner. I'm ranked 2600 I'm trying to get a gold time in this though.

Shout out to Gtp_Holland for his top time and by using his replay I cut the needed 1/2 second to Gold it. Thank you.
 
Took a couple laps to gold and i left it there as i was just seeing what was up while my girlfriend ate dinner. My gold lap was still super sloppy can see myself hitting low 1.04s but not much more will see though this is my first gt academy year and 2nd month with a wheel
 
Oh well... bad car, bad tires, bad track... but I guess we'll need to have a go.

I hope someday GT academy will bring us some good handling car, but maybe its too much to ask.
 
With controller 1:04.368 I'll be able to shave more off once I get a chance to use the wheel at some point today. (everyone off work bank holiday) playseat don't fit in room!
 
This was fun but Gold is set to easy compared to seasonal events. got gold the 2nd lap with a ds3 (im not good on DS3 and i didnt have a clean lap). I think clio seasonal was harder to gold without aids (well abs 1).
