Even if there isn't a problem. If there's the slightest threat of one they will retire to save the car.

Because engine management is more than about achieving the maximum straight-line speed. Kvyat's problem was that he was getting torque that he didn't want when he was trying to hold the revs steady when he was mid-corner.

And it's not a "theory". It has been confirmed by the team.

Again, where are you getting this information from? Because I haven't read or heard anything that said Kvyat was running a detuned car in qualifying...

Mark Webber. He clearly said not two minutes ago that Kvyat's car was having a problem with a throttle and torque overlay that the team couldn't correct. Hence, he was getting torque when he didn't want it, and detuning the car was the only way to offset the problem.

Sorry if that doesn't gel with your obvious anti-Kvyat bias.

He practically did and you could tell he does not watch the sport ever to bet on the 'Pats' because they are the 'Favorite' to win...
