So good that it was claimed that Ferrari perhaps sent scale test cars to them to circumvent the limited wind tunnel running hours (as you know).
I haven't heard this. I do know that Haas spent time in Ferrari's wind tunnel but I haven't even heard about Haas using their own.

One of the more brushed under the rug with little acknowledgement by bigger media in 2015, especially since if they had nothing came of it that put Mercedes under threat. Also HAAS has used Ferrari's wind tunnel in Europe due to logistics but could use their own since it's supposedly as advanced and rolling.

For those interested, here's the q1-2-3 times from last year Spain GP :

Q1 Lewis: 1:26.382 Hard tyres
Q2 Nico: 1:25.166 Medium
Q3 Nico: 1:24.681 Medium

Day 2 of Testing and we already see times < 1:24 in Supersofts by Ferrari and Red Bull

Edit: Best time of 2015 testing: 1:22,792 (Rosberg) on softs

Not relevant colder Conditions are much faster then summer conditions.

If there was a championship for F1 team's social media accounts, they'd win it hands down.
I absolutely agree, although the Mercedes pic with Hamilton's dog in the seat was pretty banterous too.

Reddit folk
So mercedes doing 156 laps on day one and 172 laps on day two. This averages to (156+172)/2 = 164 laps per day.

If they can keep this up, with 8 days of testing they'll have completed 8*164 = 1312 laps before Melbourne.

A lap around the Circuit de Catalunya is 4.653km, this results in them doing 4.653*1312 = 6104.736km of testing.

Now if we assume every race is 305km (in reality it'll be just a bit over but for simplicity). This means Mercedes will have run 6104.736/305 = 20.016 race distances, or one full season worth of mileage, before the first race!

That would be rather impressive.

Manor have surprised me, they look to have improved some way. Wehrlein is a good addition by them.

Nothing else to say about the testing, this season should be a repeat of last season I'd bet.

Top possibilities I see at this stage, even though I think we still need to see teams running similar strategies which will come towards the end of testing.

Ferrari could be on Par with Mercedes and may have actually overtaken them in the engine game.

Redbull,Williams and Force india look to be in the same area.

Renault could possibly start as the slowest team or close to it in Melbourne as the under developed Lotus package they have is also not designed around the Renault engine, creating packaging problems.

I wouldn't give any of this more then 10% truth at this stage though, Pirelli is still throwing Different tyres at everyone.

Would love to see the Top speeds at the splits though that will useful information.

Some people seem to think Ferrari might of tried to run out of fuel on purpose to test it's fuel data accuracy.
Would definitely make sense if that's what they were attempting. Better to do it at the end of the session than lose valuable testing time trying it earlier.

That's a common practice. I suspect more red flags in the last few minutes while testing in the next days
