Mainly based off the Urban SUV Concept, and while it is practically is the Honda Vezel, which was produced for the 2013 MY, Honda will revive the HR-V name, and expected to be released in Spring 2015 in the US.

For the US Market

I don't see the point of this car. Isn't the CR-V small enough? Why buy a tall vehicle like a crossover if it's going to be smaller than a large sedan?

It's looks ugly and boring.
Welcome to Honda post-2001. Everything is ugly, boring, miserable, and not worthy of the praise it gets in media. Toyota is also ugly and boring but their cars are better. And Mazdas aren't ugly or boring and better also.

I think this thing will compete with Mazda's CX3? Unfortunately, the Honda will sell like hotcakes because the base model will probably be a dirt-cheap stripper and it's a Honda which people think matters anymore. The Mazda will be a thoroughly better car but will be more expensive.

I drove a '15 Camry a couple days this week. High points were acceleration, minimal door closing effort and the gauges. Everything else was boring or down right sucked like the radio.

That's how bad Hondas are. There's an Accord in my driveway right now so I know first hand.

If that HRV had a back seat, it would be nice. But it sucks and will probably sell like boxed cancer.

Boxed hotcakes. Every idiot's grandmother will buy one. It's gonna be a zoo out there.

The CR-V is no longer small. The CR-V, RAV4 and X-Trail/Rogue are now ginormous compared to the original crossover formula. The only thing missing at the moment is a V6 or turbo-four option as in other mid-sized crossovers.

There's room in the Honda line-up now for an entry-level crossover. They'd be fools not to fill in that hole in the line-up. Especially since crossovers are selling like hotcakes.

As for boring... Hondas of late have really lost their way... no need to look further than the Civic to see that... but the new Accord and Fit seem a step in the right direction. Willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, at least until the reviews come in.

The current CRV is wider than the original. Every other dimension is basically the same. I have no idea where I read that but I read it somewhere.

Must be noted that the first two generations has external spare carriers. To be fair, the current one isn't any bigger than the previous one, though it's only now that competitors like the Fozzie and the Rogue are catching up our exceeding it in terms of space.

I couldn't believe that, so went and checked... I'll be damned. The new one is something like an inch longer than the first-gen, which is incredibly impressive considering the bloat typical in the industry. I guess it's just the design that makes it seem massive.

I guess I'm the only odd ball that likes this. I used to hate crossovers until I rode in one. Now, I sort of like them.

But this is even more ugly then any other cars in Honda lineup. I can not stand to look at those taillights.:yuck:

Here the worse part, China version is called XR-V and it looks way better.

Well, this is America, we usually have the worst end of the stick with cars.

The interior looks like it's made from cardboard, reeks of a Great Wall inside.

Reeks of a Great Wall...?
A Brand that will cut corners in any way possible to insure the cheapest experience possible.

''An Australian importer recalled Chinese-made cars of several brands including Great Wall due to discoveries of asbestos in gaskets.''

You mean the brand that has cheap knock-off versions of popular cars?

But it's China only model. Japan, Europe and other countries will be getting the same one that in the OP.

It's made/will be by Dongfeng Honda.
But those round vents look a million times nicer.

Everyone who's anyone is rushing in right now, and honestly, the only players that are missing right now are Ford and Hyundai. The battle that will probably play out over the next year will be:

A) Which model is less of a cash grab, and more a practical extension of what's already offered
B) What model is actually capable off-road, or in poor weather conditions
C) Where are you actually getting value for money compared to the others

Honestly, I do think Honda is going to win out on some of those - much further ahead than the Fiat 500X and Chevrolet Trax it'll probably be compared to most-frequently.

Would the Jeep Renegade be considered one?
