For those of us with a childish sense of humor, it finally happened.

Hahaha sharp eye you got there.

edit OT: RÄIKKÖNEN, Hamilton, & Vettel seem to me to have the best chances of winning the prix.

Unbelievable lap by Hamilton. I don't like him much but he is quick. Rosberg has been getting The starts though so keep an eye on T1 tomorrow.

I'm super happy for bothe McHonda and Red Bull. Hope to see Ricciardo and Alonso hit Victory lane once again

Massa on NBC saying that the team's tactics are still terrible and they wasted Q1 by sitting in the garage. HAAS might be hiring soon though.
Yeah, but ... Felipe Massa?

He's quick on his day, but hasn't set the world on fire. Haas would be better off fishing for Kvyat or recruiting someone out of GP2 or GP3. Ferrari placed Charles Leclerc in an ART, so he might be a good choice. And between Ocon, Sirotkin and Latifi (who needs work), Renault have more development drivers than they know what to do with.

The last thing HAAS needs are stupid children in the car crashing into things every race. It is bad enough now with the delusional GUT thinking he is a World Champion in waiting and GRO crying on the radio the car is terrible and giving no clues what the issue is. A veteran driver and a younger guy would be a good mix for a new team.

Haas have shown in the hands of Grosjean that they actually have a competitive car. Why don't they try and snaffle someone from Indycar? They have the US pedigree to attract attention, and in return have a decent car to jump in.

I would go for Newgarden who is stuck in a average team now unless Penske or Ganassi grab him to replace one of their grey beards.

Pagenaud looks pretty appealing right about now if we're opening the IndyCar gates.
He would be a fool to leave Penske for anything other than a Merc or a Ferrari. The new superlicense requirements would I believe make Newgarden ineligible and the only young driver American driver option would be Rossi.

I believe RHR is eligible too.

Impressive performance from Max 👍. Hope he keeps it together tomorrow and will finish in the top 5.

Incredible how Massa and Williams handled qualifying today :dunce:.

GO MAX!

Thing is, because Indycar finishes so early, Haas could let Gutierrez stay and try to prove himself, and if he stays underperforming, get rid of him and let the Indycar champion finish of the F1 season in the second seat.

EDIT: Yeah, Indycar finishes on the Singapore GP weekend, so that would give them 6 races.

His 3yr points total is not enough but his championship should/could mean he would be eligible. Newgarden needs 36 FIA points this year to be a 2017 option and the only way that happens is he has to win the Indycar championship this year. Rahal would need to finish 1st or 2nd this year to have enough driver points.

So HAAS 2017 will be Massa/Rossi with JEV standing in the garage watching TV, GRO will be in red, and the future W.C. GUT. will be in the Mexican backed LMP2 team in the ELMS.

What is in it for a 35 year old Massa to go to HAAS? I don't see what motivation he would have.
The better question is why would he want to stay with Williams were everybody is unhappy with each other and the strategic decisions are at times made with a dart board and why would Williams want to keep him when there are many cheaper drivers available?

Well my inference is that if did leave Williams he would probably retire rather than drive for Haas or any other midfield team, and he's obviously not going back into a top seat. I think it's Williams or retirement for Massa next year.

I've just noticed that both Haas drivers both only have one Fastest Lap to their names, and both were set in Barcelona

A payday.

He might still want to drive and have no qualms about going to a perceived lesser team to extend his career simply because he loves driving. It's unlikely, I know, but not an impossibility.

There was always going to be a grace period for Verstappen - new car, new engine, new team. But Sky have been getting carried away with Verstappen getting closer and closer and surpassing Ricciardo weekend. But I imagine that they just came crashing down with Ricciardo up by half a second.

NBC as well, David Hobbs basically called his lap brilliant and was gawking over him, after immediately pointing out that he was a good half a second slower than Ricciardo.

Why? Montoya is the last and perhaps the only driver to transition well from American open wheeled racing to F1. Bourdais flopped, Andretti flopped. There's no reason, with the wealth of talent in Europe, that also pay well (assuming Haas ever decide to take a pay driver route), to go to a place that almost never provides good talent to F1 for talent.

You forgot JV, I think Indycar driver wise is at a higher standard then Champcar by quite a long way, Bourdais hasn't done anything since he came back.

The thing is, JV and Montoya where both Rookie Champions but back in the Cart days the top teams where not afraid to hire rookies, now they will only do it if they have money which means they are likely going to be bottom of the barrel.

If you put todays Indycar drivers in the Cart 90s era you would have the likes of Newgarden in a top team years ago.

I thought Speed was Fox Sports now and David Hobbs is over at NBC Sports Network :odd:

My mistake, you almost forget Speed doesn't exist anymore when their entire commentary team bar Bob all do NBCSN coversge.
