2018 Rallycross ThreadRally

This is interesting.

MJP Racing and RedBull GRC have signed a letter of intent detailing our collaboration in a new rallycross series. The series is promoted and the cars are developed by MJP Racing. RBGRC was offered to participate by running an American version of this series with a global final event each year.

Following the now public dispute with the manufacturer supported teams at the start of 2018, RBGRC was left without the ability to fulfil their commitments to the venues and other teams. They entered a debt restructuring process to try and avoid the default of the company. MJP Racing is not affected or involved financially in any way.

MJP Racing is still discussing the options for a joint future with RBGRC and for the moment we will retain the GRC Europe and Platinum name. The plans for the 2019 Platinum Series and cars are on time and progress has been amazing and very satisfactory. GRC Europe will MOST CERTAINLY take place and it will offer a new life for Rallycross and new opportunities for spectators, sponsors, teams and drivers. Discussions with race tracks, organisers, partners, teams and drivers have started and are met with nothing but enthusiasm and excitement. Our new series is welcomed and needed!

While deeply disappointed, we will not further comment on the style and intent of leaked information, personal animosity and outright defamation expressed in the media. The lawsuits solve nothing but are a common business tool in the American economy. Similar lawsuits between promoters, teams and drivers have happened in many sports, and also in WorldRX.

MJP Racing, the constructor for the proposed GRC Platinum car, are also the promoter/organiser of the forthcoming GRC Europe. Hence, GRC Europe is go for the 2019 season.

I never really saw GRC as a well-done series personally, in comparison to FIA run rallycross series. It all seemed a bit too X Games, and like they were trying to make rallycross into something else. Sounds like behind the scenes it was quite messy.

Unless they go for an all-electric alternative series with a unique twist, WRX/ARX is going to eat them alive

MJP Racing will be at the World RX of Britain, France and Germany, with Andrew Jordan and Toomas Heikkenen.
