I've just had a chance to rewatch the top ten shootout from Saturday. To those that think 9/10 cars crossed the yellow line, this is untrue, only one car in the shootout did.

Imo the officials need to be far clearer with their interpretation of track limits to stop this sort of rubbish affecting the sport any further.

We're not the only ones.

Did anyone else notice CL miss the chicane by two car widths after he'd been given the bad sportsmanship flag. I know it was of no advantage to him at all but neither was MW's cut. So miss it by millimeters is not ok but miss it by metres is . Something has to be done.

Just as an aside, I also think Chaz got away with one after the bad sportsmanship flag.
Does anyone really think CL intentionally cut the chicane by that much?
I agree with raising kerb height. Solves the problem.
Then you end up with cars being launched so high it becomes dangerous.

Keeps cars from moving over that much, due to damaged from too much kerb hopping.

Surfers is worse. The cars launch into the walls. At Adelaide, the cars are launched onto the race line.

Nope, and I don't think MW did either. Why is it that millimetres is not ok but metres is? How are they certain, without going through all the incar footage, that one of MW's wasn't similar? Curb hopping is still curb hopping whether you meant to or not.

Millimetres makes it look like the driver got greedy whereas metres such as CL's example, having already been given the meatball flag, was an obvious mistake even blind Freddy could see.

Do the officials need a coupe of enemas & a visit to Specsavers? Yes, absolutely. Their consistency over the years has been inconsistent at best & it doesn't look like improving this year either.

Hold on. Post interview, Craig said he kept kerb hopping until his warning. Mostert clearly did one close to the end of the race. Skaife mentions it was close, but that's from the TV camera.

That transponder is just a silly idea.

I've just thought of a solution that uses exsiting tech already in use. Set up a timing line from the inside edge of any given kerb to wall/wherever. Place a transponder inside the sill/rocker of that side of the car. When the transponder passes through said "timing" line the driver cut the corner.

I missed the races this year, I love watching adelaide and the thread fell out of my notifications so I forgot. :(

Yes, metres looks like an obvious mistake, and Mostert's was accidental too, but what I'm saying is that one of MW's could just have easily been the same. So why do 2 out of these 3 drivers get away with it? Do the rules change after you get the bad sportsmanship flag? Penalize all or none, mistake or not.

And yes @05XR8 That transponder is just a silly idea. When the angle of the car changes where the position of the car appears to be, it's useless.

Edit: It was McLaughlin not Mostert.

I believe they should add another tyre bundle like they already do at turn 1. Run the first lap with out the bundle, and have the Marshalls quickly place one there once all cars have passed. Gives the drivers an easier opportunity through the chicane on lap 1, but a way of making sure of no cutting for the rest of the race. The marshalls would have a good minute or so to place the tyre bundle. If a car hits it then a car hits it, it’s self adjudicating as they say.

I can see your idea but, there's just one problem with your theory of placement - it's just sitting there & isn't secured properly.

If a car was to hit that, it could end up anywhere :scared:

They could have a thick triangle shaped bundle like they did at the bus stop chicane at Sydney Olympic Park. The chicanes there were done pretty spot on, although the rest of the track was like watching paint dry.

So am I. Except that I won't be watching because, even though they are points rounds now, VASC still can't stream them on their site. Thanks F1.
Is F1 shown on NBC or cable? VASC don't get shown during the broadcast?

Daggone shame. I think Foxtel Go can be watched overseas legally. Don't know how much it would cost though.
Unfortunately no, it can't be done legally. Only way semi-legally is with a VPN.

WAU to receive upgrades from the US for the AGP.

Sounds like it's all about the front suspension. Hopefully this means that the Walkinshaw cars will finally work at other places and not just street circuits or Bathurst.
Agreed, the more teams consistantly up the front the better 👍.

While the championship is keen to expand into new markets, Seamer maintains the series is unlikely to grow to more than 16 events in a season.

“I think sixteen events is absolutely enough and that’s the feedback I’ve been getting from the teams today,” Seamer said.

“What those sixteen events look like, how we execute on them or where we execute on them, that’s all up for discussion

I can see QR, Winton and Sandown deleted for two Asian rounds and a local street circuit. Maybe even SMP being visited as an alternative year venue.

Shame they can't do Singapore and then Suzuka.

Suzuka would be incredible, even just the East circuit could be pretty cool. But I think we’re more likely to see an event in Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia. Maybe a second attempt at China.

Based on the talks and this year's calendar, China being early in the season, they'd have to push back or bring forward PI or delete Taz. Would be good to follow F1 for two rounds, have a break, then pick up in Singapore.
