Quite staggered we don't have this thread already. Why is 2022 in the title?

What'd you all think of this? Getting memories of Honda in Btcc with the Civic Estate, trying it for the sales. Still will be interesting to see how M-Sport get on with it.
Doesn't look a million miles off the Fiesta, probably identical underneath. Interesting decision to switch, clearly Ford feel they need to get that car out there a bit for sales.

Probably also to pioneer a CUV for rally. A Mazda team use the Demio/Mazda2, but could have easily used the CX-3. It's a popular vehicle segment.

Suzuki already tried that with the SX-4 in 2007/2008.

What Mazda team, by the way? Assuming it's an local operation...

I wouldn't say it's pioneering much, almost looks like a face-lift of the current Fiesta more than an actual take on the Puma. Doesn't look any alert or bulkier to my eye.

Alerts not enabled. This thread dropped way down the order.

Blows the dust off this thread to share this link of the Rally1 Yaris being put through it paces around Monte Carlo:

And the Rally1 Puma doing a spot of Gymkhana around Ford's Craiova plant:

Hyundai have run a full three day rally as part of their hybrid testing

Personally I'm looking forward to '22's WRC season, new tech always helps level the field a little and without Seb O things should be even closer. 500ish hp with full hybrid boost should be entertaining as well.

Big crash this morning during the first stage of the day. No one seems to be hurt, though.

Also, Loeb, 47 yo, still sharp after 1 year and a half not in WRC. Impressive. He has a new co-driver btw.
And those Puma are fast. When not wrecked.

I was surprised how different the Toyota's rear wing looks compared to the other two.

Any reason they've switched to 5 gears? Watching it live last night and to the ear it gives the impression they are aren't as quick out of the slow corners as before because they aren't going up the gears as quick, when in fact they might be as quick or quicker.

Sebastien Loeb is now the oldest driver to win a WRC rally, at the age of 47

Unbelievable stuff
And his co-driver is a 50 yo math teacher that will go back in class Tuesday, where she probably gained some popularity during the week end.

And a win for Ford and M-Sport as well, solid start to the season.

Under full hybrid boost the cars are insanely fast, the on boards and bumper cams are amazing.

WRC+ was a worthwhile purchase this year

The Ford Puma Rally1 Fourmaux edition has apparantly been fixed just enough to roll it around, and looks brilliant, like a rally ute.

In all seriousness, huge credit to the roll cage/spaceframe designers and builders. It looks like the cage didn't deform at all.

Are their highlights packages decent? I'm tempted but my issue with the WRC has been that their highlights packages have had terrible direction with too many shots pointing back at the drivers, pointless interviews and not enough footage of the cars and the whole field

The highlights are OK, I mainly use it for the full stage live broadcasts and repeats of those.

Looks great but it shows how far WRC cars have come in the last few years.
Not so long ago they were a modified version of a road car anyone could buy. But that right there , in all but name , is a group b race car.

Red Bull TV's highlights are good, usually 25 minutes or so every day. It's how I watch.
