It appears Matheus Cunha is on the verge of joining Man United. Given that he's a lazy, petulant tool-downer who slags off his employers, he'll fit right into that toxic environment.

I want to fight for titles, for big things.
He is aware of the team he's joining, isn't he? Unless this is another Robinho situation.

Temporary transfer window opened on Sunday and will close on the 10th, this is so teams competing in the Club World Cup can sign and register players for the tournament which starts on the 15th. the window will then reopen on the 16th and close on 1st September.

Transfer news so far.

Liverpool have signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million and is the Alexander-Arnold replacement at right back, They are also trying to sign Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen and have interest in Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth.
Liverpool's back up keeper Caomhin Kelleher has joined Brentford for a fee which could reach £18.5 million. Brentford's keepr Mark Flekken looks set to join Bayer Leverkusen.
Man City have agreed a deal with AC Milan to sign Tijani Reijnders for £46 million.
Chelsea have agreed a deal with Ipswich to sign striker Liam Delap for £30 million. Chelsea also have signed Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon for £18 million and hope to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan.

Man United have been busy so far too, and we need to be! Mathues Cunha has agreed to join from Wolves, we could be getting Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford but its early day on that one and Bruno Fernandes turning down a huge move to Al-Hilal to stay at United is mental to me, apparently he was offered £700k a week!

Chelsea has also paid Manchester United £5m not to sign Jadon Sancho.

And in Championship news, Boro sack Carrick:

And Kim Jong Tuna is still an absolute embarrassment.

The mini-transfer window to satiate the club world cup is pathetic and so are the attempts to drum up support to get Ronaldo there.

I don't think there is much interest in the CWC in the UK, its not on TV properly as its on subscription service DAZN with a few games on Channel 5.

No surprise. Everything you can say about Spurs' league campaign is fair but he delivered something they hadn't enjoyed for ~20 years and gave us one of the coldest promises of all time.

Edit: Considering that the press have been licking their lips about Postecoglu getting sacked, they have finally gotten their wish. This particular kite has been flown for months and months.

Definitely no surprise, yes a major trophy for the first time in 17 years and Champions League football next season but that league form was horrendous, 17th in the league with 22 games lost and only 38 points.

If Arsenal or Chelsea won the Europa League but finished 17th in the Premier League then they would sack their managers.

Inversely, had Spurs finished 5th with no trophies, he'd probably have been kept on.

Transfers/news round up from the last few days.

I thought I'd start with the two PL teams taking part in the cash world cup-Man City and Chelsea.

Man City have been the busiest, deals for Wolves right back Rayan Ait-Nouri for £33.7 million, Lyon attacker Ryan Cherki for £25.3 million and AC Milan midfielder Tijani Reinders for £46 million and all deals are close.
Chelsea have signed Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg for £12 million and are still in talks with AC Milan for goalkeeper Mike Maignan. They are also trying to sign Dortmund's Jamie Bynoe-Gittins.
Cristiano Ronaldo wont play in this years CWC despite offers from other teams, he look set to sign a new deal at Al-Nassr.

This early transfer window for team in the CWC closes tomorrow.

Away from the CWC, Sunderland's Jobe Bellingham will join Borussia Dortmund for club record £31 million, it will be the highest transfer fee Sunderland have received and Jobe will be going the same way as his older brother Jude did.
Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Hella Verona defender Diego Coppola for £10 million.
Man United are still in talks with Brentford over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo and have made initial contact for Sporting striker Viktor Gykores.
Liverpool have made an improved bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz which is £113 million.

Away from transfers, Spurs are in talks with Brentford head coach Thomas Frank about their managerial vacancy, Frank apparently wants the job.

Scotland are winning 3-0 v Liechtenstein, and the commentator just made arguably the most 'Scottish Football' comment in history:
"It lifts a bit of the gloom..."

Transfer/news round up.

Starting with managerial news, Thomas Frank is the new Spurs head coach. He has signed a deal until 2028 and he joins from Brentford along with three of his coaching team. No word on Brentford's replacement for him yet.

Chris Wilder was sacked by Sheffield United yesterday and then replaced by Ruben Selles, former Luton boss Rob Edwards is the main candidate to take over at Middlesbrough, Gerhard Struber is the new Bristol City head coach.

On to transfers and there hasn't been a huge amount happening as the window only reopened this past Monday.

Spurs have signed Mathys Tel on a permanent deal for £30 million after he spent the second half of last season on loan from Bayern Munich.
Bournemouth has signed French left back Adrien Truffert from Rennes for £14.4 million, he will replace Milos Kerkez who looks set to join Liverpool.
Kevin De Bruyne has joined Napoli on a free after his departure from Man City.

Outside of that its just speculation and gossip really.

Lastly I suppose I should mention the Club World Cup which is ongoing, most of the headlines from that are the attendances which has been pretty shocking, over 400,000 empty seats so far and counting.

Blast from the past just for a bit of "how things change":

Looks like Palace are doomed to return to mediocrity...

Transfer/news round up

Starting with managers, Brentford have appointed Keith Andrews as their new head coach, its a promotion from within as Andrews was set piece coach last season. Ruud Van Nistelrooy has left Leicester as they agreed a compensation package, this news had been coming for a while but for some reason it only happened today. Apparently its to due with PSR rules which is no surprise as Leicester have had some poor mis-management for the last five years.

As for transfers its been Liverpool making the news, they completed deal for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen which if the add-ons are met could be break the British transfer record at £116.5 million, they also signed left back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40 million which bring their spending so far to just over £216 million.

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Brentford's Christian Norgaard for £10 million plus £5 million in add-ons and are in talks with Valencia to sign defender Cristhian Mosquera, they still haven't signed a striker that they have needed for two years though.

Leeds have signed Jaka Bijol from Udinese and the defender joins for £20 million, they have also signed striker Luca Nmecha from Wolfburg on a free.

They has been some movement from Man United but not a lot, the move for Bryan Mbeumo is getting closer and for outgoings Jadon Sancho has been talking to Juventus. Former United player Paul Pogba is back in Football following the end of his drug ban last year, he has signed for Monaco on a free on a two-year deal.

Club World Cup last 16 draw.

Palmeiras v Botofogo
Benfica v Chelsea
PSG v Inter Miami
Flamengo v Bayern Munich
Inter Milan v Fluminense
Man City v Al-Hilal
Real Madrid v Juventus
Borussia Dortmund v Monterrey

The UEFA Euro under 21 championship final is this weekend as well with England taking on Germany, the Women's Euros start next week.

England vs Germany again :nervous:

Hopefully Chelsea beat Benfica and I can't see Man City messing up against Al-Anshearer.

So clearly someone involved with the big brass fished out an interns idea for an April Fools joke and thought this was a genius proposal... who on earth would be interested in this and (more to the point) what kind of answers do they genuinely expect from the aforementioned players beyond "go off and do one"?

I can only assume that the only people who would be really on board with this is the gutter press looking to stir the pot. :indiff:

Sounds like this idea comes from US sports where there has to be at least one sideline reporter on every game.

Money has already poisoned football but Yankification will certainly speed up the death rattle.

England have won the Under 21 Euros, they beat Germany 3-2 after extra time in a game they went 2-0 up in before Germany pegged them back, they played excellently for much of the tournament and without some big players too like Jobe Bellingham, Delap and Wharton. Harvey Elliot was a stand out with five goals. They have now won the competition back to back having won it in 2023.

Sheffield Wednesday's worries have deepened with the club on track to miss monthly wage payments to multiple players and staff, the club also failed to pay their staff in time in March and May of this year which has led to pretty severe transfer restrictions.

Over the next three windows the club are prevented from signing any new players, even free transfers, until they have paid outstanding wages in full. The only exception being if they had a sqaud of fewer than 23 players then they can bring in a free transfer or loan without breaking the embargo.
