I blame autocomplete on my phone (ignoring the fact I was walking home from the pub after... some pints)
I can blame 44 years of my life on some pints

Glad to see Wednesday didn't finish on a negative balance. Roll on next year, lets hope you make a good recovery, Yorkshire needs more Premiership teams.

It was so long ago, I don't remember how I felt when Arsenal got through to the final against Villareal, but it shows how hard the last few European finals have been (ever since seeing us win the CWC in 1994, and losing each subsequent once since) that I'm pleased, but holding so much fear of defeat again.

Some absolute gold in here:
Chansiri had made a claim for £64m in loans, meaning Arise would need to pay £16m to satisfy the 25p in the pound rule.

Storch and his team were not comfortable paying Chansiri for failure, especially because so much money needed to be spent on the infrastructure of the stadium and the training base.

[...]

During the administration process, the Thai was offered a number of offers on his debt, which were either outright refused, ignored or not taken in good faith.

[...]

Chansiri was made an offer which would see him receive payments, in effect, to about 25p in the pound.

But he would not receive a penny now - it would all be based upon the club's future success.

[...]

A response to the offer had to be received by midday on Tuesday. Chansiri decided to accept, but replied too late - minutes after the deadline.

Chansiri - subject to any challenge - might now be left with nothing.
All other non-secured creditors - mostly local businesses - were paid 25p in the pound (not ideal, and I hope that the club continues to do business with the majority of them to help them trade in the future), HMRC have been paid in full, and the Storches have paid off a £7m loan that Chansiri secured against Hillsborough.

As a further example of Chansiri's uselessness, if one were needed, there wasn't even hot water at Hillsborough.

Now let's hope we keep Pierce Charles, and Bannan comes back on a free :D

The only hot water at Hillsborough was the hot water that he left the club in!

I dread to think what the content of this is. I'm off most social media these days.

On a scale of Ian Watkins to Marvin Gaye, it's very much towards the David Bowie region.

As much as I love Ipswich being promoted to Premier league again… I’ll probably never see a live game, This season I saw 10 games, season before 0…

Some finish to the Celtic-Hearts game. I'd say they were lucky the ref declared the game over (there was only a few seconds left anyway) in light of the Prag derby being abandoned for something similar earlier in the week.

The whole end to the SPL has been a disgrace, and the officiating - particularly in Celtic's crucial last two games - has been abysmal.

Hearts fans will no doubt feel extremely aggrieved at what has happened in the last couple of games, but ultimately Hearts needed to keep the title race in their own hands, rather than leaving themselves at the mercy of other results, which - of course - went against them.

I do feel gutted for Hearts, they were top of the table for so long and lost the title on the final day which is heartbreaking, at the same time though what a job Martin O'Neill has done and it will be interesting to see if he stays next season at the age of 74.

Man City beat Chelsea 1-0 to win the FA Cup, the interesting news came after though when it was announced that Xabi Alonso has agreed to become Chelsea's new head coach on a four year deal. Alonso was a legendary player who is still building his managerial career but he did lead Bayer Leverkusen to a domestic double and an invincible season, it didn't quite work out for him at Real Madrid but he had a high win rate, he was touted to be going back to Liverpool but it does seem that they are sticking with Slot, Chelsea have had a horrendous season and the club seems to be in a mess.

Liverpool have absolutely bottled that. Slot has been woeful this year and Alonso has history with the club and some of the new signings to get the best out of them. This is a big mistake for my club.

It's fine, he's taken the Chelsea job so he'll be available again by November at the latest.

The only thing I can think of is that they think they have a better shot at getting Iraola and think that he is a better manager than Alonso.

Southampton has just been expelled from the Championship play offs after the spy gate thing where they sent a guy to record Middlesbrough's training session and he was caught recording it from an IPhone behind a tree.

Southampton have admitted to two other breaches these season and have also been given a four point deduction next season.

Middlesbrough have been reinstated in the play offs and will face Hull in the final on Saturday.

Man City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth meaning Arsenal have won the Premier League.

I'm happy for Arsenal but more happy that it was City who missed out, hopefully this is the start of a barren spell for them with Pep leaving and a massive points deduction next season.

Yep well done to Arsenal, been solid all year, not pretty, but solid.

At the other end, the fight to stay in the Premier League goes to the final day after Chelsea beat Spurs 2-1 tonight. Spurs host Everton, whilst West Ham host Leeds. Spurs have a 2 point advantage but thanks to goal difference, a point would be enough.

I do feel however that Spurs have the tougher task, Everton want to finish with a positive result, they could still finish in the top 10 with a win. Whilst Leeds have form on their side, they have little left to play for whilst West Ham have to win or they go down.

I'm indifferent to it, I didn't really want Arsenal to win, and I really dislike the way they play, but over the season they have been the most consistent so deserve their congratulations. I'm as happy City didn't win as I'm not happy Arsenal won, but I was in a no win situation on that one .

Hopefully now Arsenal have broken their barren spell as well as Liverpool did during COVID, it can be United next. A lot of work to do this summer, but the opportunity is there with Pep leaving. I do hope next season the amount of grabbing and holding allowed on corners is reigned in.

The mad thing with United is how they've just, quietly, been very good, results depending, they could finish just 7 points behind City and 11 behind Arsenal. So it might not take as much work as you'd have said it would in November. At which point behind that close was probably not on their radar.

United could be a dark(ish) horse for the title next season, and comfortably at that.

This is true, but at the same time, I feel like the top teams have been less consistent this season, and that drop off has opened that door for as, albeit, we've still done what we needed to get to where we are.

But it's an opportunity we can take advantage of, especially with Pep leaving. And now the dust has settled post-Klopp, combined with Liverpool's old guard coming to the end of their run and their struggles, I think it's a great opportunity.

Everton (who can still qualify for Europe) and Leeds (who have nothing left this season) have the chance to do the funniest thing ever...

On the face of it, this is a bit salty from Windass...

... but it's not an invalid point.

If Southampton are indeed "expelled" from the play-offs for spying not only on Middlesbrough ahead of the semi-finals but Ipswich and Oxford during the season itself, the question of whether their presence in them at all is appropriate should be examined.

Windass comments that Southampton should be ejected and the playoffs could be restarted with Millwall-Wrexham and Middlesbrough-Hull semi-finals. Another possibility could be Southampton forfeiting the Ipswich and Oxford games, recording 3-0 defeats instead of the actual results - although since they drew with Ipswich 2-2 and lost 2-1 to Oxford that wouldn't result in much change: they'd drop below Boro only and it'd still be the same semi-finals.

I think that, whatever happens at this point and with a ~£200m windfall coming to the play-off winners, someone who doesn't get promoted is going to sue. Southampton over the punishment, Millwall over the mis-drawn semi-finals, Wrexham over not getting in, Middlesbrough over lack of preparation time for a game they weren't qualified to originally, and Hull also over lack of preparation time for their new opponents.

It could be very, very bad.

Edit: Lol

PSA for Uk members:

As reported by everyone (BBC, Guardian, etc etc) there is no free to air broadcast of any of the European finals in the UK.

However......, if you have Virgin, they are being shown on channel 526 without requiring a TNT subscription.

Aston Villa won the Europa League/UEFA Cup last night beating SC Freiburg 3-0 in a comfortable win, big congrats to them and to Unai Emery who has done an outstanding job since joining, its Villa first major trophy since 1996. Its also one out of three for the English clubs in European finals with Arsenal-PSG in the Champions League final and Crystal Palace-Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final still to come.

Southampton lost their appeal last night so their punishment remains.

Emery has completed the Villa treble, by winning the Europa League with Villa-real, Se-villa and Aston Villa.
