Two right tires TWICE!

I hate it for Larson because even though he scored the most points over the entire season it just doesn't sit right because the race itself was a mess.

I really hope they eliminate any type of playoffs but stick with the points structure. It would have been a phenomenal 3 horse race this year and probably had more hype since there would have been more storylines.

Game 7 doesn't work in NASCAR. They can keep trying to chase that and all they will do is try and manufacture a race, not have one.

Well, things sure got spicy the last couple days.

Suddenly all those fines SHR kept getting hit with when SRX was a thing don't seem so coincidental, eh? Not to mention calling one of your largest and most successful team owners a "stupid redneck" and other things that have the potential to be quite ruinous.

And quite honestly, with Ford and GM turning their attention to F1 next year this is probably the worst possible time for something like this to come out. You don't want to be giving manufacturers a legitimate reason to start taking focus away from your series, or even consider walking out if this escalates even further.

We're six weeks away from the start of the season and we still don't know what championship format they're going with.

Because I'd really like to know as soon as possible if I have to buy tickets for a few races next year. If they keep the playoffs, I won't waste my time.

Season doesn't begin until February. We are 12 weeks from then.

I had a discussion about the state of this series with my brother last night and things honestly look pretty dire on many fronts. NASCAR management need to take a damn good look at themselves or else the series will die completely. Fans are allowed to be critical of team owners and drivers because everyone has their favourites but when you're an exec for a top racing league, it's totally shameful to be criticising a team owner. It's also quite sad to see them freak out over the SRX because it was never going to usurp NASCAR in terms of popularity. I for one do not think the current management will ever see eye to eye with the teams, drivers and fans so I think a split is on the cards like IRL and CART. Considering how many people NASCAR have pissed off and their dim view of race fans, it could very well be the beginning of the end for this championship.

I haven't been keeping track of the entire lawsuit fiasco (because every update felt like it took a lot of words to say nothing new), but the recent texts between upper management makes them look grossly incompetent with their lack of confidence on their product. Like you said, how the hell were they ever scared of SRX? Are they scared of the CARS Tour too?

But it's only one piece of the entire puzzle that seems to be NASCAR's version of having their cake and eating it too (the unique, single-supplier cars and the multitude of tracks they own). I think it's been reported that NASCAR does not want to issue permanent charters (for the obvious reason), but the cost of one has gone from $5 to $40 million.
