I've recently started hittting the 20M credit limit that I've read so many complaints about. At first I thought it was a bad thing but it didn't take ong to realise that it was forcing me to spend my credits and fill up my garage with interesting cars.

So I went and spent 1M credits, B-specced the dream car cup with my FGT while watching TV, then spent another million. It makes B-spec grinding alot more fun knowing that I'll have 30 "new" cars in the UCD and 1 million that I have to spend after each dream car cup run.

I dont know of the 20m credit issue, but it sounds like a good thing if it prevents modders from filling their banks. Assuming, the issue means you cant have more than 20m credits in your account at one time.

Or you can just earn what you like, say 40 million, do the licence test UCD refresh trick all day and spend what you like. Oh and forget about B-Spec 'cause it's ****.

I don't really get, why people would be upset about the 20 million cap.
I mean, there is no need to save up your credits, it is only there to be spent.
If there would be something like retirement provision in the game okay, but except for spending your money on cars, tuning parts and such, I don't see a reason to save your money beyond 20 mil. which is the most you can spend for one car.

shouldn't be a limit as far as im concerned, even though i have not managed to amass more then 6m at one time so far. fake, artificial and a bit of a shortcut they have taken there i think.

Ill never even see 5 million let alone get close to the limit..I have an addiction of when completing a series of races trawling the UCD and spending the money ive earned, cant save for nothing on GT5 lol

Because maybe some people would like to save 100 million cr and go on a buy what you like spending spree. Or maybe it's just the fact that people should be free to do what they like, when they like with money earned in races.

Oh and yeah great, you've just blown all 20 million on one car, but now you don't even have enough cash for an oil change. Clever thinking there PD.

Yeah, but so what?!
It is just virtual money, why be upset about something like this?
I don't get it that people are like "omg I could they even think of..." about such insignificant stuff. Don't get me wrong, as I don't mind at all they can lift the cap or even completely abandon it. But I don't really see the necessity for this.
When you got 20 mil. cr. saved up, you can either buy one of the cars that's worth that amount of money, or go on a shopping spree, you don't need 100 mil. for that.
I would be happy if I would be better at saving my money IRL, but in a game there's no use for that. Just my opinion.

In principal i agree, but do you need to make it sound like you are a woman shoe-shopping?

Well if you look around this forum you'll find a few threads dedicated to these sort of save a lot then blow it all situations so even though I don't do it myself as I spend my cr straight away, I can see why people are annoyed with a credit cap.

If it's "just virtual money" then why impose a restriction in the first place?

It's just the principal I suppose.

Perhaps the 20mil cred limit is to simulate the financial situation of car companies and racing teams. 💡

That street runs both ways. If it doesn't matter because it is only virtual money, than there shouldn't be a need for a cap. And since it clearly bothers people more that there is one than it would if there wasn't one (and since it doesn't matter), there is no reason that PD shouldn't lift it.

For people that play GT from GT1 like me, is really really annoying, cause most of us in previous GT's we had 100-200mills credits and we could buy any car we want at any given time. With this idiotic limit it forces to spend money even if you dont want to.

It's a little annoying. I can't see any reason there should be a cap and especially one that is so low.

You can still buy any car you want at any given time. You just have to start saving then buying, saving then buying, saving then buying...

If you have to save, buy, save buy, you are not really buying any car you want at any given time.

I don't see why the cap matters, but I also don't see why they'd want to cap it in the first place.

The cap doesn't matter because the (premium) cars that cost 20 million are fine as they are when you buy them, you'd have to be mentally strange to want to 'upgrade' them. The next most expensive (premium) car after that is the Miura for 15 million, another which should be left untouched, then there's the two Ferrari F1 cars, and I don't think they can even be upgraded. After that, you can buy any single (premium) car in the game and have at least 10 million left over.

The amount of credits don't matter either because... Well, they never did before, so why now?

I'm going to suggest that it's a design oversight, and not a massively important one at that. Just the same as the FGT Championship unlocking a level before you can buy the FGT itself, and the same as how some races require cars that you may never, ever see, though they've now fixed that.

I'm the exact same way - I feel your pain!

But if I had 20 million I'd just go buy as many used cars as the budget would allow! It would hurt too much to blow it all in one place - the only one I want is the XJ13 and that can be won in A-Spec, so it's all good!

If you have to save, buy, save buy, you are not really buying any car you want at any given time.

I can see where this is going. The credit limit isn't a good thing for players who like to save up bankloads of money, but doesn't deserve some of the flak that it seems to be getting a bit of in this thread and others around the internet.

I don't see the point in just making the day flip forward until cars I want to buy appear. I would rather use the time contructively racing. I am currently down to about 15.5 million having bought a Pescarolo, but I have been above 19 million and was hard pressed to buy stuff to stop the next Seasonals being a waste of time from the credits point of view. I eventually bought a Furai in a different colour even though I already had one. To my mind the limit seems pointless as previous GT games have managed just fine without one.

Haha, agreed, its stupid to have a cap of 20 mil when you can buy one car at that price and not afford to oil change or upgrade. To me its such a dumb thing to have a cap so low.

I don't really get, why people would be upset about the 20 million cap.
I mean, there is no need to save up your credits, it is only there to be spent.

Because it makes no real sense. Sure, the Gran Turismo Fanboy Defense League will always be there to rush to the game and DP's defense with bullcrap excuses for why a 20-mil cap makes sense and is a good thing, but of course it's just ignorant bullcrap.

There really is no logical reason to pick that arbitrary number as the maximum. If you buy a Ferrari 330 P4, that's all of the 20 million credits gone, and you have absolutely nothing left over for even as much as an oil change, let alone tires or any other sort of upgrade if you so wanted. Now, again, the GTFDL will spring into action to suggest stuff like simply spending a few minutes on a quick race to get the cash to get the oil change, tires, and whatever else you want, but we shouldn't have to work around a ridiculous limitation in the first place. That would just be a way of dealing with a retarded limitation issue, and not actually fixing the fact that it's retarded and unnecessary.

As for there being no point in saving up credits because they're there to spend, if we just go around blowing credits all the time then we're not saving up the 20 million credits (or similarly high prices) for some of the most expensive cars. To get some of the cars legitimately means saving up credits and not just blowing them all the time.

Let me paint another illustration. You're saving up money for that 330 P4, GT40 Mark IV, or whatever other super-expensive car. You're almost there, with like 19,600,000. You decide to do the Expert-level Gran Turismo All-Stars championship in B-spec because it's next on the to-do list and you're getting those final credits you need. Bob wins all five races in that championship, at 52,800 CR apiece, and the 264,000 CR bonus at the end, for total winnings of 528,000 CR. That gets added to the 19,600,000 you already have in the bank, but you can't have 20,128,000, so you just wasted 128,000 CR. It doesn't matter if it's no big deal to get them back, because it stinks to just throw them away in the first place for no reason other than the fact that DP is mentally-challenged. They shouldn't just vanish into a black hole at all. Waste is waste, and this is senseless waste for a senseless cap.

There are no benefits to a credit cap. There are no winners with this credit cap. There's only losers.

I'm going to suggest that it's a design oversight, and not a massively important one at that.
I'm afraid it's not a design oversight, instead it was ported over from GT5:Prologue. There, the credit limit was 2.000.000 to buy the Ferrari F1 car for exactly that sum.

This limit is quite a good example of what's wrong with the philosophy of GT5: they are forcing me to do things. If I have 20 million credits, they are forcing me to go buy some cars to not lose money when I race. It's like they're saying: "You will play this game no matter what, and if you don't want to, we will make you play it! You don't want to buy cars with your money? We'll see about that...". They should encourage people to do things, not force them to.

P.S.: see sig, 2nd part

Yes, but if you spend those 20m on your Ferrari 330 P4, or Jaguar XJ13, or Ford Mark IV, or Red Bull X2010, your money ends in a big fat zero mark. Yes, you get a trophy, but still...it's really a hassle.

Same here :D

Mind you, i've just earned the easiest 2million ever from the touring car seasonal event, which has put me half
way to having enough for an FGT

I really should be sensible and go for it because aside from the enduro's its the only a-spec event i have left to do

Its just so hard to keep the cash when theres so many beauties to buy in the game

There is no issue with there being a cap to the credits. But I will agree it is kind of lame. If you enjoy this game, there's really no reason to have more than 20m credits. Yes, some of the cars cost 20million. But hey, there are cars worth much more than that Irl. And yeah its a hassle to not have the 101,200k for every tire available for the 20million dollar car. And oil changing a car before you drive it is negligible. After 2-3 races, you'll have all that hp you would have gained from the oil change. If you don't have the 1000 car trophy, then you shouldn't ever need more than 20mil.
